October 2024 Announcement

The Horizon Backstage has returned!

In case you missed a previous Festival Playlist reward car, the Horizon Backstage will help you complete your collection.

To purchase cars in the Backstage Shop you will need to get Backstage Passes, a new kind of currency to use only with this feature. Backstage Passes can be obtained in one of two ways: As a Festival Playlist Seasonal Reward for 40 PTS and on the Forzathon Shop for 1,000 Forzathon points. Therefore, you will be able to get 2 Backstage Passes per week!

To celebrate the arrival of the Horizon Backstage, you will receive a Backstage Pass via in-game message on October 10, so you can try the Backstage Shop once it goes live!

The cars available for purchase in the Backstage Shop will be voted on by the community. Each week, two pairs of cars will be eligible for players to vote for. The winning pair will become available for purchase on the Backstage Shop the following Season. To vote, enter the Horizon Backstage, select Backstage Voting, and pick your favorite pair of cars.

Get to the Horizon Backstage through the Pause menu or reach the spatial marker near the main Horizon Festival Site, then select whether you are there to vote or purchase a car!

However, you do not need to wait an entire week to make your first Backstage purchase. Here’s the initial list of cars available to buy from the Shop starting October 10:
• 1980 Fiat 131 Abarth
• 2021 BMW M4 Competition Coupe
• 2013 Cadillac XTS Limousine
• 1967 Mercedes-Benz 280 SL
• 2016 Pagani Huayra BC
• 2022 Rivian R1S

Awesome although for me I’ve got every car in the game but for new players this will be great.

…and of course it uses the same silly voting method from 4. Lousy monkey’s paw. At least I own every car in the game this time around so I don’t have to deal with it.

I think I’ll start putting in a prediction for which one’ll be selected in the voting. I’ll be able to guarantee which car is chosen sometimes; if one of the choices is a car I want it’ll 100% be the other one, without fail.

You get to vote on pairs now, so that’ll make it hurt double.

Bet the AE86 and 575M will win the vote by a landslide just by the AE86 being there lol

Oh, right, now they’ll have a “”“reason”“” not to put returning cars in the Autoshow…

Seriously, that one’s a slam dunk.

Real talk though, I was only playing for a handful of votes in FH4, but every single week it seemed like the car I didn’t already have won. And because I hadn’t been playing for that long, that meant the winning car must have been a very recent playlist reward. It was incredibly frustrating.

I remember the Formula Drift Ferrari was a playlist reward, the next week it was up for a vote in the backstage and, entirely unsurprisingly, it won :man_facepalming:

Finally, confirmation of our suspicion that Kudos were worth exactly nothing.

Bet you even PGG forgot that they existed by this point. What a great allocation of valuable development resources!

Hmmmmm…

Here comes my vote for the Commodore and Esprit just to troll everyone…

I didn’t expect it from the beginning because it was the same system in FH4, but as expected, you can only get the same model once with the backstage pass. Disappointing.

This may be a shocking fact that you at Playground Games don’t know, but not all players want only one of each model!

Dream car collections are different for each person.
There are philanthropic collectors who own all models, and collectors who want to own multiples of only their favorite models and have a narrower and deeper love for specific models.

If the latter players could get the same car multiple times with the backstage pass, it would have been a good motivation to play the game more actively.
Especially in FH5, the cars given to us in the season championship are full of junks that can be purchased cheaply at the auto show!

This is a half-sarcastic, half-serious question, but why does they not want to more give us such exclusive cars even though it is not a game that circulates cars as NFT tokens?

If they want to protect the market price of AH, they should just impose gift and AH restrictions on cars obtained with the backstage pass.

As mentioned above, in FH5, even including AH, the availability of past exclusive cars has significantly worsened compared to FH4. For players like me who want to collect multiple favorite models, the backstage pass was supposed to be a good alternative, but it wasn’t.

Curious question here. How do we know with absolute certainty that these elections or votes are verified to be true and not rigged, God handed, or “dev magic” to a specific genre to fill a specific quota ? I’m all for the backstage pass but not so much on the voting mechanic real or otherwise possibly.

You would have to give a plausible reason for PGG to want one car(s) vs another. It just seems a stretch since it would have to be based on $.

An example would be more or all jdm additions to cater to that specific crowd.

Or ev’s for that subset … etc

Yeah, I don’t keep multiple versions of cars myself, but it’s ridiculous that people who want to aren’t able to do so. Like, there’s no good reason for it.

Maybe THIS will finally be a good enough incentive to start getting some more participation into horizon arcade again. It’s the best reason I can think of, outside of making it a multiplayer matchmaking mode.

At least they’re including 2 cars per week instead of one like horizon 4. It’ll still be years before they all get in to the catalogue though.

The dev magic here isn’t rigging the actual votes but the pairings. What do you think the community as a whole would rather vote:

A Playlist exclusive that was available twice in Series 11 & 22
A Playlist exclusive that was available only once in Series 31

vs

A Playlist exclusive that was available thrice already in Series 2, 11 & 31
A Wheelspin car with really good PR

(kinda joking but I remember the Escalade votes which did not go well for that car)

I didn’t watch anything - is that what is going to happen in the first week?

wheelspin car + htf car versus htf car + htf car

the result is obviously going to be the pair with the wheelspin car

Which will be unfortunate, but on the other hand other votings are then free of the Trueno burden.
