Trial opinions and feedback

Is it only gonna be the standard “Caterham SL RS500” that is eligible (or the FE too)?

Everyone better get practising! LOL

Indeed!

Don’t think it’s clear but I’d guess it will be standard only. The FE is effectively a tuned version so it wouldn’t make much sense to put a stock requirement in and then allow the FE.

So if it’s stock does that mean i can still tune it as stock and race it? ie: no upgrades just adjusting suspension and gearing? If so i found a funny thing when practicing in it. I tuned it for speed and handling stock and won both a Road race and a Street Scene. When i tuned it for acceleration and handling, the AI adjusted and i kept getting beaten by the lead AI by a car length or two.

Going to keep it as Speed and Handling i think.

So I feel I’ve gotta say this: don’t apologise, there’s really no need to. As much as we’d all like everyone in these sorts of games to be god-level drivers we all start somewhere and it’s usually at the bottom. They’re very different experiences if you’re not used to team racing in this game and figuring out what the A.I. is likely to do is tricky enough without dancing around the wall riders and rammers. I’ve taken to running Trials multiple times to try and help teams complete (I’m not exactly top tier but can normally be at or near the front) and knowing I’m likely making things a bit better for newcomers is the main reason for that.

My humble opinion is that PG should reconsider their prize strategy.
Giving such a beautiful exclusive car for an event like this is attracts all kinds of players.

A game like this could benefit from a ‘token’ system I think.
Instead of getting a specific car for an event, players would get a ‘car token’.
There are many ways to go about this, but a possible way would be:

  • The higher the difficulty the better the token (or the more tokens you get).
  • Car tokens would be used to purchase rare cars.
  • Car tokens would come in green, blue, purple and yellow.
  • You could trade up your token (say 3 greens for a blue, etc.) or trade them down.
  • There would be a rare car shop, which could have a rotation so not all cars are available at all times. This would make cars available to everyone, just not always, which would still keep a rare feel to rare cars. This would also ensure the system wouldn’t completely undermine the auction house.

This way the better players would get more tokens and thus more cars, while the mediocre players would still be able to drive their dream car (which is currently locked behind a seemingly impossible task or tucked away behind a trial).
This system could also eliminate some of the problems with trials if you would reward the whole team a token when they win and give additional tokens for the highest position individual players finished in during the season (much like ranking).
And since you can earn your tokens through other means too, it won’t be necessary for players to participate in (online) activities that they might not want to participate in.

This system would need balancing and reclassifying of cars probably, but I think it could well work.

Thanks. I know there are nice players out there who understand. It is jus that I felt kinda bad having to rely on other players to get my reward. It turned out to be a slightly parasitic relationship

Don’t worry, if you scored any points, you’re not one of the people that we’re complaining about

As has been said, no need to apologise and keep practising. Unranked online team adventure will get you more used to the bashing and smashing, and try going up against Unbeatable drivatars in the Exhibition races. Then you’ll be the one at the end pulling others through the Trial

Would be better if I can find a decent team, every team I get likes to ram people out of the checkpoint.

I’ll never understand why the lock exclusive cars behind online events such as this one, the event for the Jeep DD was already bad enough.

Well, since there was question mark after “Worst Trial yet” any predictions for tomorrows event selection?

Would setup like Street Race in pouring Rain, Cross Country trail and Dirt Circuit with Caterham make it to worst ever list?

The Caterham event is an epic vacuum cleaner… from the moment t you start to the last second of driving
The RR Spotlight race is definately worse though. What can go wrong packing a S2 /998 engine with rear engine and rear drive car on a wet road? PG are you kidding??? I cant even get enough traction before the 1st drivatar has more than a second on me and I am usually one position down from where I started by the first checkpoint have restarted it a dozend times without ever coming close to what I would call a successful start. If I reach 5th there is a drivatar that nails me and I end up in the woods/against a tree or the ditch. To top it off my rewind has stopped working g in the race (till I restarted fh4) so I couldnt even use that for help…

That’s why i hate AWD upgrade for (almost) every car, i don’t know.

And i’m not saying it’s easy but…

Simply the truth is: people CAN’T drive RWD cars when they need it, sucks so bad doing that because always drive AWD

I’m not mad, was able to win the trial anyway, my teamates well… just one guy stayed in lobby lol

It is not can’t. It is more being uncomfortable/not used to rather than an inability. To drive a car… past that add rain, wet spots and brutal AI bumper cars and the race is a bugger… you may also add to the co consideration of the class so driving 300km or 180mph through a town is a different type od driving that that I usually do. Break distances on wet cobble stone are vastly different from asphalt etc. Lots of factors to consider not just ‘you guys can’t drive’.

I will get it done by weeks end but it is still bloody annoying knowing that I have to race the same 3 runs repeatedly to accomplish it. BLeh… I still want to co.plain about it.

I actually beg to differ with you on that one.

I drive AWD all the time but if i need to drive RWD i can. I raced the Trial as soon as the season changed. I used my own tune which i prepared 2 day ago. I won the 1st race, came 3rd in second and 2nd in 3rd race. I luckily had team mates who could drive but i also had team mates who couldn’t. Done the Trial 9 times so far and have a 7 to 2 record.

Yes RWD is different and i suggest to people who want to do the trial to practice in one first as it was quite obvious there were those who didn’t.

Saying that i quite enjoyed this weeks Trial.

Agreed on the recent “Porsche Cup” trial. Did it on first try and it was amazing to see everyone stay until the very end. Nothing better than getting placed on a team, win or lose, that actually gets what racing is truly about. Not trying to be insulting, but there have certainly been times when I’ve shaken my head and wondered whether or not the developers understand it themselves, too.

I have to disagree about that “Power On The Prairie” trial, though. Yes, it was challenging. The only thing I found truly annoying about it was the big jump. Why? Because it relied mostly on luck rather than skill. Either you landed perfectly and kept going, or you wiped out and fell from 1st place to last, or at least what would feel like last. Which of these would happen was completely random.

And that’s another problem I tend to have with Forza Horizon 4. More often than not the game feels as though it’s based more on how lucky one is rather than how skilled they are. Sure, being skilled can help some what, but it often feels as though luck matters more. Especially when doing weekly challenges, like the trials, the PR challenges, etc. Luck and a willingness to do repetitive tasks… well, repetitively lol.

Well I won the caterham championship easily , dont know if this is considered dirty (I mean the tcs and the fallout teammate XD you will see, keep reading) but first tries were bad, the car is uncontrollable at all (gamepad), so in the end after 3 or 4 tries I download a tune and use tcs, sorry guys, but after the porsche cup I want to get rid of this challenges the fast as I can, more over when its team based and with stupid drivatars crashing always.

The first try with tcs went well, I did the first circuit first with ease on first and learn where the drivatars go slow and I can go fast. The rest went bad and the team didnt help at all. It was on the 3rd try when a very good teammate apeared, dont know if it has something to do but his caterham had a Fallout 76 livery, first race on lap 3rd we went on top and he leave me on first, but he slow down to stop the drivatars and let the other teammates catch the drivatars, he did the same on the next races and we won all races 0-3. Dont know if that could have been done on the porsche cup with that speed but it was a nice strategy.

Dont know if he is on the forum but thank you very much XD. this is the type of teammates I want on my playlist championship against dumb drivatars on dumbeatable.

It was no worse than the other 998 events and all 998 events generally suck. It is much more challenging to configure d through a class to be competitive.

The RR Spotlight event took a bit more effort than usual but managed to sort out my tuning and win it with 56 pts on the fourth attempt after finishing 3rd , 2nd and 2nd

Current trial is the worst ever. Who the hell got the idea that it would be fun to race a heap of medieval junk just to get the same garbage but slightly tuned?!
