Engine Sounds are wrong and shared across manufacturers...

if this is the case then I’m going back to gt. I have not played GT since forza came out. I left because every car sound like a hoover over the carpet. If they get it right sorry forza I’m gone.

Hopefully they fix this its really irritating, its always 2 steps forward 2 steps back with forza

Fix 2 car models get errors in 10 new ones l0l

I hope this is an issue and not done on purpose, but im starting to believe this was there idea while going to the arcade side. Here’s hoping for a patch soon when they realize people actually care about engine noises.

Just bought the Ford rs200 so that i could game it for a spin.

What happend to the sound of that car?

In fh2 it sounds amazing with the wastgate sounds and stuff but now that is just gone. Just like the blower sounds

Soms cars sound betreft in fh3 but others sound far worse.

I’m almost not sure of the even now how a tuned car with a blower or turbo sounds like.

Worse much worse lol

The GT350 in Forza 6 sounds really good, pure and raw. In Horizon 3 I’m not sure what those the sounds were manufactured from. Sounds completely different. Fire up 6 and check it out.

I always bragged to my friends that the Forza series has the best car engine audio compared to any other racing game. But with FH3 engine sounds it seems too arcadey and streamlined now… getting a bit generic too. I’m beginning to question it now. Don’t go down this path. Keep up the awesome engine noises for each vehicle/engine/upgrade. Don’t remove one of my favorite things in a Forza game. :frowning: :frowning:

I agree, the sound need to improve, where is the exhaust note, and racing exhaust should change the way the car sounds.

I am quite disappointed with GT350R’s sound. Cannot feel any ferocity in it like in the real car.

Don’t try the Hellcat then, the magical whine from that insane supercharger is gone lol

I swear it sounded really loud and ferocious in the demo, though FM6 is still the best representation… you can really hear and feel the exhaust flutter and rumble on off-throttle. In Horzon 3, it feels to me like the overall car sound volume has gone down in the full game and off-throttle sounds were already weak to begin with.

I really reallyyy have to turn the sound up in Hor3 while keeping other SFX at 8, because then the crash sounds get annoyingly loud. If I’m playing FM6 at 45 or 50% and hearing/FEELING every engine and exhaust detail coming from the highs, mids and lows in my speakers, I have to crank it up to 70% or higher to hear the cars properly. They sound weak… I hate that. Sounds need balancing, like they did with FM6. Initially, that too had weak car sounds.

I do not believe that’s ‘junk’ at all, but in fact, very valid and legit concerns. The game should not have come out like this without proper testing.

If you’re a true car lover or if you’ve even spent some time hearing these cars race, drive by you or have driven them yourself, you would know that many car sounds have been done really strangely in the game… they need to be LOUDER and more aggressive… applying upgrades should change the character of the car significantly and they should not copy/paste the same sound across different manufacturers.

I’m sure the developers are reading this… and they had better fix it, because it’s bad business, at the end of the day!

Seeing many criticisms I’ve found in game so far as well (M4=Supra or the 2017 Raptor having a V8 sound). I’ll be adding how AMGs M156/M159 sound similair to Chevys LS3 engine, not the exact sound like the M4 and Supra share, but considering that Forza Horizon 2 had so far from any other racing game that I played the best recreation of AMGs 6.2 V8 …I just don’t understand why they didnt take it from FH2 over to FH3…even the M4s sound was perfectly hit in FH2.

I’m very glad someone took a stand and brought this out in the open.

The sound clearly needs fixing - I strongly feel the car sound volume and even radio music isn’t as loud as it was in the demo. The cars sounded very loud and aggressive in the demo, and they sound somewhat quiet in the full game.

  • The Challenger Hellcat has no supercharger sound

  • The 2016 Cadillac CTS has the EXACT same sound as the 2015 Z06

  • When a head-to-head is about to start, you can either not hear the sound of the drivatar’s car at all when it dolly’s past the camera or it cuts in and out.

Please PG, patch the game to make the cars sound loud and prominent. Horizon 2 cars sound louder for crying out loud and they all have distinct off-throttle sounds. I don’t know what happens in Horizon 3 when you lift off the throttle… most if not all cars sound like they’re about to stall.

While there are problems this isnt one. The CTS-V has a Corvette engine in it.

It’s the LT4 engine. Both in he CTS V and C7 Z06.

Yes, the C6 Z06 has an LS7, but that car is not in the game.

Edit: Quoted the wrong person ^^"

You are correct, idk why I was thinking older gen.

The CTS V has a detuned version of the ZR1 6.2L LS9 engine the 15’ ZO6 has an 7.0L LS7

Aside from the LS9 having a supercharger the cam profile is different and there is a substantial difference in displacement. A ZR1 and a CTS V could have a similar sound not a Z06.

That being said I think the lack of supercharger sound in the game is the main reason why he made that statement.

UPDATE: Sorry he was correct I was thinking older generation.

The New CTS-V and the C7 ZO6 share the same Supercharged LT4 engine

Many valid points have been brought up so far in this thread. After putting in some serious time with multitude of cars it looks like they took the easy way out and made the mainstream cars sound amazing. The R35 GTR sounds great. Many of the rest all sound muffled and just bland. There are specific sounds in each motor that differentiates them from each other. I own an Evo 8 and have driven a Focus RS they sound nothing alike but in game they sound very similar. Also owning a LS vehicle in the past it never sounded like it was an Indian Motorcycle between 5-7krpm like it does in game… It’s almost like PG is ignoring firing order in engines lol. Has anyone else driven the aventador? When it gets to the top of the RPM range it sounds like someone screaming not an engine at all.

I should of put the lack of Supercharger sound in the OP. After setting up some big blower cars they finally added a Big Weiand blower sticking out of the hood, but they removed the blower sound completely. You can put a centri blower like a ProCharger or Novi and you get no sound. Turbo spool is okay in some motors but bland in others. Its almost like PG has never driven or heard a big turbo bit boost vehicle. Idk they need to revert back to FM6 or FH2 sounds because this is getting sad. Ive been staying away from some of my favorite cars just because they sound horrible.

Its almost like they are losing licensing. I mean they don’t even list what the motor name is when doing a swap they just give a generic liter and what type.

I don’t want to bring an arrogant attitude to this post, but I think its safe to say that many of the Forza Franchise lovers are actual real life car people or just car enthusiasts and we do notice what PG and T10 has done here. I understand they are catering to the more Arcade side, but why downgrade after all the forward progress…
