Engine Sounds are wrong and shared across manufacturers...

Enjoying the game, but got the point where every Inline 6 other then the 3.2 bmw I6 sound exactly the same.

2JZ Swap sounds the Same as every RB swap and even the M4 turbo 6 motor sounds the same…

Truly disappointing. Why didn’t they port over the correct noises and why share them between soo many different motors. They all sound muffled and not quite to life.

All 4G6x motors sound the same, but they even used the same sound for the Focus RS which sounds nothing like a 4G motor.

Rotary’s sound like whiney superchargers not at all like a 13b.

I understand they went for more Arcade this Horizon, but why change the sounds when all they had to do was port them over from FM6 or H2?

Update

No Supercharger whine…

yes your right, and there is no super charger sound :frowning:

They need to fix the sounds.

I recently watched a video by the stradman - - YouTube where he drives a Lamborghini Murcielago. Even threw the screen you could hear how powerful it was. Now if you hop on FH3 and fire up a Lamborghini their is no engine sound what so ever. Just a buzzing noise and that is all.

it’s been stated a few times now that they are not going to change the sounds of any more cars

Its sad, this game would be so much more realistic if they added the sounds. The game itself is good, but this sound needs improvement

Yeah I noticed that too. Engine sounds made Forza now they sound borderline NFS…

NFS 2016 had very nice engine sounds tho

Back on Horizon…my only complaint is the supercharger sound, too low in my opinion, the turbo sounds 100x times louder

yes thats very sad i love the super sound

nfs has the BEST sounds of a racing game. in fact you know the gtr in forza horizon 3 you know how it has that deep tone to it that roar in the mid ranges? yeah nfs is that times 100. many sound effects that made nfs 2015 sound good are missing or sound worse in horizon 3, such as the reverb and the echoes, and even the distance of the cars sound travels in nfs you can hear players flooring it from quite a far distance.
here have a listen.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gSQLQi5eIr0

from the nfs video you can see how the sound is actually coming from the exhaust and the car sounds different depending on where the camera is located if you have the camera looking back wards you will hear the turbos and the sound of the actual motor with a very slight sound of exhaust. in horizon 3 if you test it the sound doesnt sound much different depening on where the camera is.

just because nfs had bad physics doesnt mean it had bad everything.

Funny thing you’d link that video. I was thinking of posting the same one… since it’s my video  NFS 2015 was a huge disappointment but the sound has never been something that’s disappointed me and in this game the went almost above and beyond with the sound. There was a rather interesting article about it prior to launch i think.

Honestly Forza Motorsport has had the sound change with camera mechanic for a while. Gotta understand why Motorsport might not be spot on it had hundreds of cars compared to NFS. Horizon on the other hands can be much more selective and should of at least emulated Motorsport sounds instead of cutting corners and delivering cars that sound nothing like they should. If you compare those vids to FM5 & 6 you’ll see that a few cars in NFS sound better but most of FM6 cars sound great.

Idk its just disappointing you’re working with Turn10 studio and have access to development objects use them like they did in Horizon 2.

The last few forza games period have had vehicular sound issues and i wonder why…weird

Turbo sound is definitely louder, but completely muffles out the engine sound. It just sounds like a bunch of random noises lol.

I will agree especially when you have an big Weiand blower through the hood and you don’t hear anything.

This is one of the worst though sound wise. At least they differentiate motors before now its like fk it we don’t care.

RIght On ! I thought it was just my old ears but many cars sound exactly the same and it is hugely noticeable … very strange why they would do that and the car manufacturers surely are not happy to have their vehicle engine sounds represented so generically ?

My only complaints ate superchargers are way too quiet and turbos all sound alike. Seriously even fh2 turbo sounds were damn good as they were different from each car. Shame t10 cut a corner or two.

turbos in forza games IMO have always sounded terrible, they either sounded like little chipmunks under my hood or it sounded like a weak air gun mixed with chirping noises of some sort when the blow off valve goes “stututututututu” it just sounds a bit off you know what i mean?

as for supercharger i think they sound good they did not seem quite to me, then again this games mixing is pretty terrible i have music at 10 car volume at like 3 or 4, and my car is still 100X louder then the music (when i want them to be equal in volume)

overall though guys the sound has improved apart from the mixing and such, but who ever did the sound of the gtr, the induction noise when your in cockpit view, the sound of the camarro, the sound of the ls in general the guy who made those sounds need a huge pat on the back.

I also noticed that the 2017 Raptor has a v8 exhaust even though the engine is a 3.5 V6 which I found odd. Ususally Forza has the sounds down packed. Hopefully an update will fix this.

At some point after forza 4 turn 10 decided that engine noise takes up too many resources. ( Either storage or processing). It is what it is. At least the sounds are better than Motorsport 6. Cars in that game sounded like buzz saws.

I noticed they were recycling sounds instead of enhancing, but yeah some cars in FM6 were off, but not lazy duplication across multiple Auto Manufacturers like Horizon 3. Especially iconic engines like the RB and JZ series as they are such different sounding engines. Blatant disregard.

Yup the dissapointment continues. FH3 definatley cheaped out in the sound department. Very dissapointing because i fealt that FM6 did a great job, at least after that patch. Im hoping its just the same bug as FM6, a lot of cars in FH3 sound fantastic but than a whole lot of them sound completley unrealistic and like complete trash.
