I have been playing every one of the forza’s course due to two gt changes that doesnt show but i have also been running a personal league of racers since 4. The changes that make us mad are the inane ui changes, the screwed party chat glitch, the rivals and mp lobbies no longer being alphabet. No Multiclass again. (Don’t force me to appeal to Phil Spencer again to get them back) The artificial intelligence and drivatards drive like trolls We drive like trolls in career to correct for them and it snowballs from there…
The paintbooth is designed by people who dont paint (natural light is needed) and the paint tools have been dumbed down since 4 less brushes less paints and who needs those woodland camos? Plus the turn ten favorites get access to multiple surfacee types that they dont provide to the rest of us matte with gloss, chrome and semigloss etc. While the car models are amazing the ackward line breaks between top and sides and etc are stupid. Someone needs to look at what they are doing and go hey maybe instead of killer graphics we should work on being the console leader in SIM racing instead of appealing to the nfs crowd.
Plus the kitchy vehicles need to go if there is not a racing series some where or in history running those vehicles on these tracks (no offroad) then it doesn’t need to be in a racing game. No suv’s, atv’s, limo, huge armored vehicle, or gimicky three wheeled insanity.
The UI, I think, is one of the best parts about FM7. I do not need to keep exiting a race anymore if I want to change a wheel setting, or if I want to change from manual with clutch to manual without clutch if I need to rest my left leg for a bit during a long race. T10 have obviously designed the new UI to lessen the amount of time we are all spent in loading screens, it is a massive improvement.
I think you’ve very conveniently skipped the myriad of issues and inconsistencies that are popping up in the audio and visual department. This may or may not be game-breaking for you, but it represents the core driving/gameplay. I’d very happily eat my hat if it all gets fixed eventually, but as it is, the game cannot hold up to FM6’s level of polish and consistency.
You may want to actually try the full game before you begin making those kind of declerations. Personally I am loving FM7, it is miles ahead of FM5 and FM6 commbined in terms of raw gameplay. Sure, its a little rough around the edges; but I feel as though I am playing a Forza Motorsport game again. Since FM4, Forza has just been a hotlap simulator for me, part of the reason I got so bored with it.
I do not need to read an arstechnica news article on it, I have been playing the game for myself. I spent the first day refining wheel settings and sharing them for others, and didn’t get to begin playing the actual career mode and free play races till Sunday evening (now monday morning here in the UK). I already have almost a million credits and over 35+ cars. Credits are stupidly easy to get by just playing the game. FM7 is giving me a fairly decent sense of progression, and I hope T10 do not cave to pressure again as they did with FM5. The ingame economy is the best it has been for a long time.
I would also like to point out that at this time, people are making the assumption that T10 will charge real money for these loot crates; something we will all have to wait and see if it happens or not. We know they are adding micro transactions, but as far as I am aware, T10 have yet to charge real world money in exchange for the wheel spins from FH2/FH3 and FM6. Please correct me if I am wrong on that front?
I think you misread what I wrote. I know tokens are a thing, they have been in Forza since FM4. Tokens are the microstransactions everyone is currently up in arms over with regards to FM7, and are following that up with an assumption that T10 will allow people to use said tokens to buy these new loot crates. As such, I pointed out these loot crates have been in Forza since FH2 via wheel spins (prize spins in FM6), and asked to be pointed to a resource that shows T10 to have a history with charging real world money for a gambling style feature built into Forza since 2014. As far as I am aware, T10 have never allowed us, their customers, to use real world money for wheel/prize spins. More than happy to be proven wrong though?
I am not going to bother commenting on the rest of your post, I have put my views down in the forum on that stuff. This one I cant ignore though.
While not perfect, the FFB in FM7 is stupidly better than anything offered in any previous version of Forza. There are still things that they need to work on, but we currently have fairly decent self aligning torque going on; a massive help while drifting or correcting a slide. Excellent feel for the weight of the cars, much easy to get a sense of understeer. As said, not perfect; but it is also nothing like previous forza games.
You should check out the videos myself and Blue have put up about it on youtube, the links for them are in this thread
This sooooooo much, I am running a TS-PC Racer with CSP V3’s and I have to say, compared to all the games I have played on PC using a full cockpit setup, FM7 would be in my top 5 all time hands down … soooo many people appear to be outraged by the FFB but IMHO it is most certainly up there with the best (I have played every major PC sim since 1997 including 100% iRacing up until about 6 months ago)
I obviously know people do and will disagree with this statement but to each their own, it is my opinion based on my 20 years of experience.
I personally am totally enjoying FM7 for what it is and so are many others … get some
tokens were a thing yes but i know in FH3 that you had a choice between using tokens or using earned in game currency, you were never forced to spend real money at any point
In respects to the new gateway to getting cars and the lack of massive payouts… My crew and I are excited as it will mean fewer casuals with one insane fast car or trolling with cars they dont know how to drive because they have to play legit to unlock them.
Homologation: is a fancy word for lobby class restrictions. One is easy to understand the other sounds like they tune for you. It forces restrictions due to community loopholers and their tricks to do speed leaderboard cars that wouldnt actually be allowed on track because of safety issues with have a car with crud brakes and a ton of horse power. Not a fan but a good step if your not gonna put in an alpha license system to restrict the newbs from driving cars they have no clue how to run. Personally i would rather have alphabet lobbies back and have the hot hatch, modern gt etc be specialty lobbies.
I’ve played Forza Motorsport since the very first one on the original Xbox (under a different username until FM4). Unless there are major changes I’m not going to buy this game. I had the disc Ultimate Version of the game pre-ordered but cancelled my pre-order once the VIP car pack was announced. As a whole I believe Turn 10 has made this game become a silly arcade racer. Too many Horizon features have slid into Forza Motorsport for my liking (prize spins, mod cards etc.). I was in my early 20s when the first game came out having just finished University. Now I’m mid 30s with a wife and kid and don’t have hours on end to grind in this game.
My major complaints so far are:
All 700+ Cars should be available to be purchased when I want to. The tiered collector system forces me to grind endlessly to buy cars I don’t want in order to unlock the next tier. The next problem is many of the cars are hidden away and can’t be purchased. They need to be won in the career mode, found in a random loot box, earned in a Forzathon or bought at the auction house. I get to play an hour or two a week and I’m not into grinding. I just want to buy the cars I want and race them. The game should be about racing cars we love not grinding for months on end to create a digital car collection.
VIP is a waste of money. In previous games you got exclusive access to certain popular cars and got XP and credit bonuses that didn’t expire. Now you get limited credit and XP boosts and Forza Edition Cars. I think the Forza Edition cars are stupid as well if I’m honest. I want to drive stock production cars and race cars (just my personal preference). There’s nothing worth paying for. It’s all attainable in the base game already. It’s a simple money grab by Turn 10.
Fast & Furious, Hoonigan Cars and probably Hot Wheels Cars (I’m sure they’ll add them in DLC) have no business in “Forza Motorsport”. Neither do off-road buggy’s, Jeep Willy’s, Ford Raptors, Vans, Limousines etc. I’d maybe be OK with some of these if there was rallycross or dirt tracks but their isn’t. I think all cars in the game should be vehicles intended for use on the street or track. As far as SUV I’m OK with BMW X6 M or a Porsche Cayenne for example as they have built in track performance. A Ford Raptor is for off-roading only. Save these dumb vehicles for Horizon which is supposed to be a silly arcade racer. And the Fast & Furious is the day one car pack? Really? How about some actual real life sports cars. When Forza 5 came out the LaFerrari was in the day 1 car pack if I recall correctly.
Significant lack of new content. Good additions are Maple Valley, Suzuka and Mugello returning. As for cars there are hardly any new ones (other than those which were added to FH3). The 911 GT2 is one of the only new cars. They haven’t addded any new GT3 or GTE cars other than maybe a Bentley GT3. Forza Motorsport used to add all the latest sports cars, super cars and race cars. Where’s the new Corvette Grand Sport or McLaren 720S for example? Plus they nixed some of my favourite cars like the 2003 Bentley Speed 8, McLaren SLR and Camaro Z/28. Worse yet their claimed 700 plus cars is a farce. Their are numerous version of the same race cars with just different liveries. Theses should be the same single car and you just choose the skin when you buy it. The Forza Edition Cars are also just modded versions of stock cars already in the game.
Wheel Support. Turn 10 promised yet again they fixed the FFB which they clearly haven’t. They made the same silly promise before FM6. They are miles behind the competition on console and especially the PC simulation games.
Turn 10 keeps taking Forza Motorsport farther and farther away from being a simulator and now it’s no different than arcade racers like Need For Speed. Gran Turismo may not release games as often but at least they stayed true to the very first game. Forza Motorsport should be about racing the cars we love on tracks. It’s just not my game anymore and Turn 10 wont be getting my money anymore. I’m perfectly happy playing Assetto Corsa and a Project Cars 2 on my Xbox with realistic physics and amazing FFB when played with a wheel.
I agree with you on all points except the 3rd. I personally am the clean, SUV racing guy. I love SUVs and love hearing people telling me that I’m a relatively good racer for beating them in a truck. In FM6, I believe there was a weight limit (5k or 6k pounds) for certain alphabet classes so I couldn’t drive stuff such as the terradyne gurkha.
Personally if people want to throw money at this game or any game that is their choice. Just the trend is if we can get away with charging for stuff we used to give for free, we will is the state of modern gaming.
For example. Dlc not included in season pass. Tracks that everyone cant run because they are dlc. One thing forza promised us in 5 that they would never do.
Today we have a Forza with very few exceptions is everything we had before just repackaged.
On the graphics front. 7 with the locked away hdr til s or x unlocks them is graphically worse than 5. True they said it would be better with those consoles but a step back in regular is a cheat to those not willing to change hardware yet.
Firstly I can understand the disappointment and “grief” that some are feeling … I can’t stand the look of the game on the X Box One S it’s obvious that it will need the performance upgrade of the One X to get the most out of the graphics etc…
Limited VIP sucks - but I worked around it…
I have already decided that it’s a game that’s going to be near impossible to “100%” with the player having to make choices between CR,cars or driver suits at each level up - FWIW I have nearly always taken the cars.
I have been “driving” for just under 16H around 1,500 miles done 166 races and all the showcases I am working through the events in the Forza Cup , I have 117 Cars for Collector Tier 9 and 388K CR - I am having to put in some time and effort - and for me that’s how it should be… You can pick a route through the events in the Cups that uses the cars you win by levelling up.
However I am one of the fortunate and happy PC players who didn’t have the issue downloading the game before early release, have hardware that lets me run 4K/60 with only very occasional micro stuttering and a G920 wheel that thanks to the efforts of other player is giving me the best Forza driving experience ever…
I’m hoping that the PC version won’t suffer the same issues that FH3 did - My experience got worse as they released patches and updates trying to make it better for other hardware - it got so bad that I bought the One S to play FH3 and I hope I’m not forced into buying a One X for the same reason…
No one has mentioned the biggest deal breaker for most of my team, which is the party chat / lobby chat switching. It is such a pain that i had 15 of my members say s"crew it I am done." Never to return to forza.
Is that what we needed you to force us out of party chat everytime we connect or leave a public lobby? No we didnt and you forcing us is rediculous and a rightous pain. I am old and avoid timmy’s with a passion. I want to be in party chat with those i am bringing with me or playing something else instead of having to jump through several steps to return to party chat.
