Why all the hate?

I am seeing alot of refunds and negative topics on this forum and I am just curious as to why? First off the game isnt even fully released to everyone so isnt it too early to tell if things shape up or not? I mean the game is fun looks good, runs good, the gameplay itself in my opinion is pretty darn good. I guess my gripe is the whole loot crate idea just because I can see it going spend your hard earned money to obtain all the cars. Other than that I dont see the major hate train that is rolling thru T10’s station. The fact that you cant have AI in MP is a deal breaker? Like what is it really?

VIP membership seems to be one of the major reasons behind these complaints, alongside the numerous bugs in the game, as is typical in launch game builds these days.

How it was advertised before the Ultimate Edition was released: “2x credits, extra cars, extra driver gear”

How it was advertised after the Ultimate edition was released: “Limited use of mod cards for 2x credits, extra cars, extra driver gear”

People are actually beginning to file complaints within their respective business competition watchdogs because of this. And for one, I don’t blame them.

Also a lot of people angry about the downgrade Rivals mode has received. No class-based leaderboards for all tracks anymore. Only a curated list of Rivals challenges.

I was hoping we’d get a return to FM4 style Rivals where the rival ghost would auto-update if you beat them (rather than having to exit the action and re-load with a new rival)… FM4 also had a second ghost of your personal best.

Unfotunately though we went even further the other way… frustrating to say the least…

  1. No class based leaderboards. It seems T10 thought we didn’t like those.
  2. Homologation leaderboards appear to exists but are hidden and can only be seen after a race.
  3. Crash fest multiplayer. No change was made except a warning of a crash ahead.
  4. Multiplayer lobbies are no longer sort by fastest lap in previous race.
  5. No storefront.

And from I can tell you can’t add cars to your homespace like what was pictured…unless that’s some sort of unlock. Idk.

Its kind of strange to think about, but there are likely people playing Forza 7 that weren’t even alive when the original Forza on Xbox came out. …That makes me feel old :frowning:

At any rate, it seems that the farther and farther Forza departs from what it once was, the old guys like me are irritated, frustrated, and feel abandoned. Meanwhile, T10 can cater to an entire new generation of Forza players, and that’s what it seems like they are doing.

Looking at the OP’s Forza status, unless its a new account, may not be able to relate to our issues as this and maybe the last few games are the only Forza’s he really knows.

What frustrates me the most is that 95% of the game is excellent, and its the hard stuff - the meat and potatoes of the game is there. Physics, graphics, cars, tracks, etc. Its the small stuff that they take away, or force people to use is what drives me crazy, and it really nullifies the awesome parts of the game in a sense.

Might just be time for old dudes like me to put up with it or move on, but I’m holding on for dear life.

Donno, I for one have been playing Forza since the first one, GT before that, and other racing games before GT
… so ye, I am not exactly young, but to me Forza 7 is easily the best one since #4, probably the best one ever.

You’re statement is only true if you stick to single player. Single player is absolutely fantastic.

I got rammed 7 or 8 times by drivatars since I started playing on saturday. Today I got so angry I almost broke my G920.
Single player is nowhere near “fantastic” for me.

Turn the aggression tab to off,the AI are much better then, think the tab is backwards in what it does.

By default it’s on “limited”. I’ll try to turn the aggressiveness “on”. Lol…

Actually,

the option is to “Limit Aggression.” Turning it off is supposed to make them more aggressive.

The thing is: by default, limit aggression is set to YES, limit it. And drivatars rammed me all the time. Didn’t mind my presence on the track.
A few hours ago I did like T REX 5753 told me…I set it to NO (don’t limit aggression) and now the AI is doing the opposite of what’s written. No ramming attempts, they drive clean.

It’s all mixed up. They gotta fix it.

YES => allow drivatars to use dirty tactics
NO => don’t allow drivatars to use dirty tactics

Told ya,its weird but my races have been 100% better set on no.

You would think, turning it off,the AI crash into WAY less,i think they have the tab backwards, try it for yourself.Yes still some bad behavior but nothing like when tab is on.

With it turned off AI still sucks… But the biggest let down is No class leaderboard. I cant get around crappy AI, not the leaderboards…

Why all the hate?

There are people here who have dedicated countless hours to Forza for up to 12 years. Racing, tuning, painting, organising communities, cataloguing, drifting, drag racing, you name it.

Forza means a lot to these people. It becomes a big part of their lives.

And then Turn 10 will completely under value this, with thoughtless, greedy, heavy handed disregard of what Forza has come to mean to them.

Of course they are angry. And you know what, this has been happening for some time. The first big misstep T10 made with me was back in FM3 days with the Stig’s Garage.

I got really angry. But I came back to try to make it work again.

And I see it all the time in these forums. People get genuinely upset at what T10 does. But after some time, they come back and keep trying to make it work.

But we keep feeling that the effort on the other side is not there when promises are broken (remember Dan said Tokens were not coming back once?), core features are cut and pleas go ignored and unacknowledged year after year.

And unfortunately the competition can’t match Forza on many fronts, but at least there is more and more competition now, it wasn’t that way before.

  1. VIP scam !! ( it should give 2x credits permanently and unique cars not forza editon cars you can get with time)
  2. Supply Crates (smells of micro transactions in future)
  3. assists no longer provide bonus credits ( Why WHY oh because they want to intoduce micro transactions)
4 Menus not complete example auction house ( why would you release game that is not complete?)
  4. Multiplayer lobbys are few (no custom open lobbys either)
I adivse to stay away I have been playing forza since forza 4 and this is the first forza I have skipped. ( Im not going to support a game like this)

People made the assumption that it would be a permanent credit bonus, as the original description was vague. That is actually an easy thing to over look, but T10 and Microsoft should sit down with their marketing department for the mix up. Personally I am ok with it, and I do not see it as a scam; but that is just me.

Perhaps so, but it really isnt a big deal. T10 have always been about giving the user options, and some people like to spend cash on things like that. That is up to them though, their money, their choice. At the moment there are no micro transactions in FM7. Sure, they are on the way (as we all found out yesterday). But you say you have played Forza since the 4th iteration in the motorsport franchise, then you should also be fully aware that FM4 also had micro transactions. The loot crates are pretty much just the same wheel spins we have had since FH2 anyway, so I do not see why having them is such a big deal now personally; we have had them for the past 3+ years. No one thought they was all evil in 2014.

This one actually makes a lot of sense. You can now change the assist level on the fly while actively racing in single player, just have to pause the game to do so. Previously you had to exit the race if you wanted to change the assists for any reason, and the game would recalculate credits % in that instance. The new way would require a race restart to recalculate such. Having the assists changeable during a race also brings Forza inline with other racing games, such as the Codemaster Dirt and F1 games. I personally see this as a big improvement, as it is a streamlining of the menu system which ultimately saves on loading times. Loading times has been a pretty big complaint in recent years, and T10 have solved a big part of that this year in FM7.

T10 have clearly stated they are on the way, and they very clearly stated it a good two weeks ago in the ‘Week in Review’. It was not hidden information (as people would like to assume… Yep, assumptions are actually bad in some cases), and left people with more than enough time to cancel their ultimate edition pre-orders if they was not happy with that information.

T10 clearly stated in the very same WIR that I linked to your last point, that more hoppers and rivals events will be on the way. Again, information T10 willingly gave out two weeks ago.

But it is a big deal when the ability to make in game credits has also been restricted in order to better guide the players into paying cash to get it. They have gone to a similar model that many P2P games use. Now this wouldn’t be a big deal if we didn’t pay full price for the game and then some but we did. Check out ARS Technica’s article it’s very good.
