I’ve been hoping FH3 takes place in Japan for a while and now it looks like other people are warming up to the idea too. Fingers crossed this comes true.

I’d absolutely love it if FH3 were to take place in Tokyo Japan. Something for Turn 10 to consider?

Wherever it may take place, it surely is going to be a long wait until next year. I currently prefer the Horizon series over the Motorsport series and I’m not too interested in F6.

Me too.

I now prefer the Horizon branch of the Franchise over Motorsport.

As for the next title… my money is on it taking place in Japan.

I’d think that a focus on Tokyo won’t be any good if it’s the entirety of the map but a portion of the map modeled after Tokyo in a similar way that a portion of the FH2 map was modeled after Nice would be a brilliant idea. As someone mentioned I think an almost GTA style map wouldn’t be a bad idea either. It would even make some more sense because the past titles you always hit a wall where you can see land but cannot drive there. Imagine a large island with multiple environments and several various regions modeled in. Imagine being able to drive almost anywhere, expanding on the premise and concepts from FH2 and the only places you can’t go are the water surrounding the island. Why not even have a smaller island nearby connected with two to three bridges (make one a tunnel or underwater and you score HUGE brownie points Playground Games).

With the above concept we could get a fantasy island map, a city modeled after Tokyo, another city or two, and distinct regions modeled after various “best driving regions” from around the world. If the studio can go around and photograph these driving roads and regions they can do this.

Imagine: The sun is out, you’re driving down a warm, charming, coastal road as it follows the edge of the map. You approach the intersection, tap the e-brake and kick the rear end out, and you go sliding around the downhill corner into a tunnel. As you straighten the car out and floor it the tunnel walls turn to glass and you can see the water you are literally driving through. As you hear the rumble of your engine build, you continue to accelerate until you begin rising out of the water. You leave the bridge all four tires in the air, flying over the road, and you land in the dirt on the other of the intersection. As you land you forget your finger on the throttle and the car starts to spin across the dirt and you continue to have some fun in the meadows. Once you begin to get bored you return to the road and head down to the small village where you cross an above sea bridge and return to the main island. Crossing the bridge you rip through the intersection barely squeezing between the two AI cars crossing the road. You begin to climb and drive past a wide shoulder where you see an AI truck in a chain installation zone and as you continue your accent cloud cover begins to form. You continue climbing and you notice snow on the sides of the road, the clouds continue to appear, you see a path towards a campground and it’s covered in snow. Do you stay on the main road or try your luck in the snow offroad? Think fast because the road is fast approaching and it’s starting to rain. you finish your mountain ascent and rain turns to mild snow. You roar towards what seems like the end of the road. Screen fades…

Fade in from black… the all-new 2016 Ford F150 Raptor is in the air, it lands on a the edge of a sand dune between a pair of cones. You follow the course of cones battling to stay ahead of the 2016 Ram Rebel as you race towards the finish line. You approach the last corner but the wind kicks up the sand, you’re going a bit too fast, you attempt to take the corner but you roll your truck. The truck rolls once, twice, as it continues to roll it transforms into the Ford GT and the background fades into a model replica of the Shibuya District as the GT rolls over and continues around the corner.

The title appears: FORZA HORIZON 3, exclusively on XBOX ONE!

—sorry I was writing, wasn’t sure how to tie it all in together, and then as I wrote it I got distracted by my cat and a little bored of writing it so… But you can imagine. The forums would explode in excitement, the pre-orders would roll in with anticipation, and it would be Playground Games who listened.

Again, my money is on them modeling the game after Japan. They’ve done Colorado (USA), they did Southern Europe (France and Italy), and it seems that Japan is coming next. They’ll have a game for every major manufacturing region except Germany but they did include part of Europe so…

I still think a large scale fantasy island would be nice. A little bit of everything.

Yeah, I’ve had the idea that this could be their plan too… if you think about it, they like to do places that have a varied landscape within a relatively small overall area… Japan fits that description perfectly. Without turning this into a wishlist, just imagine the fujimi-kaido types of mountain roads they could put in there!!!
Of course, we have no control over where the third Horizon will be, but I’m quite sure that regardless of it’s setting it’ll be an excellent addition to the Forza colleciton

Unlike what I said months ago, I think Tokyo would be a great addition to Horizon 3. I have however pointed out that Tokyo wouldn’t fit with the Horizon concept, but the roads would be great.

Maybe Playground will eliminate the Horizon concept for something new, because we all know Forza Horizon can’t last forever.

But, Playground Games will do something great, we all know it.

Japan would be awesome!

How about a GTA Inspired island. Desert, alpine, beach, city and other country side landscapes.

Or instead of making another Horizon game. Make Forza Motorsports Test Drive and make closed world long distance road courses. Without the open world, you can have higher frame rates. Motorsports physics on civilian highways.

I may be in the minority, but I sure hope NOT.

The whole world.

What about Norway? https://www.taberhols.co.uk/holiday/norways-greatest-driving-routes

My bet:

Somewhere in Eastern Europe. Maybe Russia in an area near Siberia.

You have the warmer country around Moscow for rural streetracing like in Horizon 2, Moscow as the “hub” and huge city with smaller towns and villages thrown in and dark (haunted, trololo), near impenetrable woods for offroad-racing.

While Siberia is the place for snowy and mountainous landscapes (including frozen lakes, swamps and tundras) with events, that give heatmanagement a large role - if your engine gets too cold, it freezes and you lose the race.

It could even present two or more russian car manufacturers, like Lada and Marussia.

i think the Whole uk would be good not crazy like the crew but still a big map o i’d love to blast down watford gap on the m1 at 180mph and drift in the fog around buxton

I want the entire state of California as the place for Horizon 3. Driving down Interstate 5, traveling to the major cities like San Fransisco, Los Angeles, San Diego, and driving along the wavy roads and coastline of California Highway 1. I think Playground Games should go into extensive detail of California, and make a large map of that state. And, make it where it does take some time to get from one city to another, instead of a lousy 4 minute drive from one end of the map to another like it was in Horizon 2. California would make the ultimate Horizon location. I made a small teaser trailer of what it could be like. Here’s the link. - YouTube

I’m not really sure where’d I like to see it. I like the idea of Australia and Japan but China wouldn’t be a bad idea. It would be interesting running along the Great Wall. I’m not sure how you would simulate the air quality in Beijing.

I’d like to see the map changed a little. Instead of one big map, I’d like to see three smaller maps about half the size of FH2. The change in scenery happens a little too fast in my opinion. One would be able to quick travel between the maps. There could be a simple road that the user could drive along between any two areas if the person didn’t want to spend the cost of quick travel. The user wouldn’t be able to leave the road but there could be a leader board for quickest travel down the road. I’d make the road take at least 5 minutes to travel. Remember, quick travel is always available.

An example of this in Australia would be to have areas in Sydney, Tasmania, and Ayers Rock. Instead of instantly driving out of Sydney and being in Tasmania, the user would either have to fast travel or drive a road in southeastern Australia to Melbourne and catch a ferry to Hobart. To make it interesting the road could be along the coast. The drive to Ayers Rock could be across the outback. It is over 2000km from Sydney to Ayers rock. I would make the player drive that. There is a lot more to this but that is the basic idea.
