Figured this would be a fun thread after the Shooting for 5000 thread popped up over the weekend. [edit: Poll was not displaying properly, fixed now by duplicating them]
Just curious on everyone’s ratings and experiences with Featured Multiplayer so far
I checked mine last night and I am currently S/4977. I race for about 2-3 hours per week on Monday nights with about 10 members from my Club. Racing is almost always very clean, I rarely come across griefers.
Don’t have one as I haven’t tried out MP yet
S/4990. Have probably done about 20 MP races overall, in R and P class only I think. Won a few but generally don’t use the best cars so maybe roughly 15% wins.
Skill rating is up near 4900, still doesn’t mean I am any good. Safety rating however went from a nice clean S to a B, after trying the spec event of P2 prototypes. I hadn’t qualified at spa as I jumped in with very little time. Started at the back and the car in front just sat on the grid, went straight in to the back and got a 4.5 second penalty, accumulated a few more seconds through slight offs on the track.
Managed to get back to an A after a couple of touring car races.
S/4942 at the moment. Hovers around 4900-4960. I find its pretty hard to screw up the driver rating. The safety rating goes quickly though if you mess up.
I only play the class hoppers and the spotlight one when it’s a car I like.
Currently at S/4999 but it hovers between 4997 and 4999 because I don’t use the meta.
It’s interesting to compare to ranked FFA in Forza Horizon 4. That was also based on a 4,999 point max, but it was nearly impossible to get to 4,900. The percentage of people above 4,500 was tiny, with the vast majority being ranked somewhere around 2,000-2,500.
The ranking system in that game was a bit too draconian - winning races and losing points and getting hammered on points if you were unfortunate enough to be disconnected during an event were both problems - however with some tweaking it would certainly work better than the current system which I suspect has a very high proportion of players very highly ranked.
the skill rating is really bad in this, saftey rating id agree im in S class but in no way am i 4900 skill rating. I finish top3-5 most races and occasional win but i should be around 3500-3700.
Sitting at S 4487. Did my 3 Qualifier Series races in the Civic Touring Car to see what it was all about during the preorder early access days (finished 2nd in each race) and haven’t gone back since.
I don’t really have an appetite for racing against randoms. Most of my time has been spent either in Private MP league races, or preparing for them in Free Play.
I’ve been at S/4999 for a while now, but I mostly run spec lobbies as the performance disparity in open makes racing extremely boring.
I honestly gave up on multiplayer. I has an S 4k rating for a while, but it literally took two races and one idiot to fix that for me.
Tried to race after the latest update, and started from dead last at maple valley, passed a few car that had gone into turn one too hot, and got knocked into orbit by one of them as he used me to make it through turn 2- “total time penalty about 4 seconds”- nope. alt+ F4.
They had a blank sheet, a loyal fan base, and such potential, but have thus far managed to screw up every single aspect of the game.
Unfortunately, it is the ONLY way to achieve a clean race. With recent updates and the continuation of a toxic playerbase going unreported due to bad reporting system, Multiplayer races are a complete mess.
I spent the entire weekend trying to get my S rating back after it went down to C after only 2 races. I’ve only managed A so far, and with the many aggressive players, S seems almost unattainable now.
Scores seem pretty top heavy so far. I guess that makes sense as a forum tends to have more core players than casuals.
S and currently sitting around 4980, I tend to see-saw between 4990 and 4950 depending on the series (I basically only do the Spec and spotlight FMP series, no open/class hoppers). Having the Formula Mazda series there helps a lot as on weeks where the rotating Spec series isn’t to my taste (or my driving style, or I am giving one of the non-meta cars a go) I can re-coup lost skill/safety ratings by schooling people around Catalunya or Watkins Glen (might not be the outright fastest, but I can set very consistent competitive lap times even whilst no-stopping on Hards)
Prior to update 6 I’ve been constant S rating. But last night i got pingponged around in the start and got a 9sec penalty.
I actually got my first DQ and it dropped me to D
But I’ve gotten back to A
Im sure its probably representative of the total player count. I dont think the skill ratings mean much of anything tbh. The fact that they dont show them in lobbies means theyre trying to hide them. It would just put a bullseye on another failed new feature.
The penalty system and skills are useless and have no meaning in the game.
That’s why I’m not interested in the system at all.
I drive the races the way I like them and how I enjoy them.
That includes touching opponents lightly or fighting hard.
If they drop in the rating, that’s not my problem. If I drop in the rating, I don’t care.
But I have fun with it. That’s racing.
This doesn’t mean anything for matchmaking. On my second account I’m 1500 skill and C in safety, I was against some ESV, AMS guys and Forza Europa
I suspect that the reason they don’t show them is because they think it will make the game too competitive. They want everyone to feel like a winner - hence it’s quite easy to get yourself a high ranking. It’s not intended to be a real ranking system.
