So i managed to finish the initial Civic TRC series online came out at grade: B Skill: 3811.
Jumped into GT series on spa, qualified 12th in a totally stock car no tuning done atall. Raced totally clean didnt even hit anyone in a race of 24 people. (Spa) usual first corner pile up and i managed to avoid that and jumped to 4th…
half a lap down and dropped to 6th and stayed 6th until the end. i was the only one without a penalty and a clean lap apart from 1st place who was 2 seconds a lap quicker…
Ended up with Grade: B Skill: 3401??
Clearly the systems broken considering all of the above? how do i loose skill finishing in a higher position than i qualified…
Edit:
just played 3 series, Qualified 3rd in 2 of them started in 12th…
End rank: B Skill: 4140…
Skill and rank are disconnected it seems somehow. bare in mind the max is 5000! surely i should be back in Rank S?
Normally start last (no qualifying) because I’m over being shoved around and used as a bumper. I play in cockpit… radar is horrible and useless.
Every race I gain 10+ positions from p23/24.
Don’t use assists or lines, still getting used to each track. Still losing points , Still in S… but rating is 2900… every race it drops. More and more…
Lobby’s get worse and worse. Shameless ramming. Zero respect. Zero penalty’s for being slammed into sending me off into the grass.
This isn’t Motorsports… how can I increase driver skill when I’m slammed into over and over? I’ve started P1… that got me killed turn 1.
Will continue to refuse to qualify until the penalty system is cranked to 11. And safety rating and skill is working.
I don’t know if this will help you guys at all, and I am not saying it to be a butt head, but if your are really off pace from the fastest lap times that might have something to do with it.
Also check to see how good your segment scores are. If you don’t have them on I think it can be turned on in the settings. As my segment scores have increased and become more consistent, my score has increased.
You can turn on the track limit ribbon and racing lines to see where your problem segments are.
Hope that helps, if not then maybe it really is broken.
Weird, for me the skill system works quite good. Had 3 horrible races in the civic races with a result of safety S (at least i made it through without being the REASON for any of those crashes) but a skill rating of only 2553.
Since then i almost always did good jobs in the lobbies i played in, drove totally clean or as good as you can do with still some people being crash kiddies on a safety rating of S.
At the moment i got up to 4848 and i have the feeling this fits totally to the history of gameresults. Almost all the races i drove in i got to the podium, i often won the qualification or started in top 5. Only in races where i had bad luck on weather during qualification i started from far behind and then got the task to survive the horde.
Best result on this was in formula mazda lobby on indianapolis. Started from rank 19 and ended up on rank 6 while even choosing soft tires twice to keep good lap times with the result of fastest lap of the race PLUS beating the pole position times from qualifying. I really cant complain so far, that the system is broken. The only system thats broken for me is the penalty system but thats another topic.
I think it might take a bit for the system to update. E.g. I do really well in a race and have no penalties, get out of the race, go check my rating and it’s usually the same as before. I think it takes a while to update. Not sure how long. Haven’t cared enough to really keep even much of a mental log beyond what I’ve already mentioned.
If someone isn’t qualifying, I would bet that does not do well for your rating, particularly your skill rating.
I m rated S and most of the game i m in are full of rammers crossing track and shooting people. Something’s wrong … i m on a sim setup and most of the game i qualify 1st every people i m with are no match with my time, again something’s wrong …
Post scriptum:
And i’ve got to say that half of the multiplayer game i was in, didn’t launch after qualy (no crash on my end tho), does it count as a “mega lose” from 1st to last ?
In which case it would explain why i m only with slown people, but not why i m with rammers.
This has been my experience too. I kind of think they use skill as first priority in matchmaking and the safety rating is an afterthought. I’m not quite sure what having an S rating means if I’m in lobby’s with people who would have been banned in any other racing sim.
Well even then i m always making clean overtakes and good consistent lap times, so i really don t get it. Perhaps my few “server dead” games ?
Or there is nobody on this game and therefore the matching cannot work correctly.
On my last game, it was such a sh*t show that i got hit from behind three time (while starting from first ofc), got no penalty ingame, and saw a few minutes ago that i’ve deranked to A
Full lobbies also here tho. I m on A 1500 not moving, i qualified at 1000 after having my two wins and one second place on the three first qualifying thing to get the multi.
I don t get it. I’ve even got in the top 50 of the best rivals lap time in world on some tracks with no try hard yet …
And now i’ve got to learn being at 1000 is the lowest u can be
I m waiting for a patch, meanwhile i’ll just play casually or get back to ACC with the LFM matchmaking (eventho there ingame matchmaking is very good).
I don t know why, but now my rank update after every race and it seems to be okay !
Weird, i went from like 1600 to 4500 and from a to s. Now the races are way cleaner.
Currently running on a smooth S rank ans 4944 skill rating. Formula Mazda is just a great lobby for clean racing (at least in my eyes) and really cant complain at all besides the fact that this is only a temporary lobby.
I am a skill raising of 4,750 and that seems to be about right. I usually finish within 1 or 2 places of where I qualify. So if I qualify 3rd for example I can expect to be somewhere between 1st and 5.
The thing that needs work is the safety rating. I had an S rating. Had one bad race in the Spec Mazda on Eagle Rock (25 lap race). I had qualified 5th. On the first lap going into the chicane I get punted through the corner and 3 other cars, no penalty for me. Over the next several laps I work my way back up to 8th completely clean. Pass the guy in 8th place and every turn he is using my as his brakes, no big contact but enough to be irritating. After probably the 10th time of him bumping into the back of me I get a 0.5 second penalty for avoidable contact and he hit me hard enough to pass me. Two laps later I pass him on the inside of one of the long corners and he pushed me below the line, no penalty for the contact but a 0.8 second penalty for the illegal pass. That same lap exiting the chicane the two cars in front of me make contact and one of them spins out, I hit their front bumper as they are facing the wrong way on the track and get a 4.25 second penalty for avoidable contact even though I had locked my brakes up trying to miss the wreck and they were facing the wrong way. After getting through that mess the guy from before hits my rear corner to put me into a drift to pass me and I again get a penalty for avoidable contact. The next time through the chicane I didn’t touch my brakes and drove full throttle into the guy until we were both in the wall off of the track, I didn’t get any penalty and that was the last I saw of the guy. In that one race my safety rating dropped from S to B. The next 5 races I had no penalties and my rating was still a B. One bad race shouldn’t be able to tank your safety rating especially when 90% of the collisions were not penalties.
Pretty sure qualifying will have nothing to do with skill rating. It should be entirely based on where you finish and the ratings of everyone else in the race. If you start last and finish 8th it’s the same as qualifying 6th and finishing 8th.
