Starting position should be taken into account for the skill rating. There is a massive difference in skill between starting in 24th and finishing 5th and starting in 1st and finishing in 5th. It is a lot harder to work your way through a field of cars than it is to hold a position you already have.
I am 4500 S rating atm and honestly you canāt predict what races youāll get. Over the weekend it was very clean and respectful racing. Yesterday it was a mess. One thing Iāll say they need to get rid of ghost cars in qualifing sessions. Itās hella distracting to say the least.
I ran through the qualifying races super clean, everyone in the hoppers was respectful and good at driving. Handful of A class races in and Iām getting FM7 vibes from the experience. Iām torn between trying to qualify well and start ahead of the chaos, or not qualifying at all and watching the chaos happen from the rear.
I just had to laugh in my last MP race. Race starts and 5 of us are driving cleanly, respecting each otherās lines. Then from behind some noob comes charging through creating chaos and taking 3 players out.
True, but you could be passing lower ranked cars and many of the passes at the back of the pack are often when the driver up front runs off the track. whereas the people battling at the front might more consistent and higher ranked.
No it shouldnāt, otherwise that incentivises poor qualifying performance. Thereās a reason f1 doesnāt give more points to drivers for finishing higher than they qualify. If you qualify 1st and finish 1st, you were the best driver of the race even though you climbed 0 spots.
No system should encourage drivers to skip quali and race through the back of the pack.
Itās the basics of how to design skill rating systems. Only ever reward final result. Players do all they can to improve their final placing eg qualify high, racing well etc.
The whole idea of a skill rating is to match drivers of similar skill. If you had an entire lobby of 5,000 skill drivers I would expect the person who qualified last to finish last, the races in Forza are very short compared to a real life race. There isnāt enough time to work your way through an entire field of similarly skilled drivers. There is no incentive for poor qualifying performance.
Credit payout should be based only on your finish position but your skill level should take into account your starting position and finish position.
I got rear ended at a hairpin, got a 2.5 second penalty (Dude baked in at least 100km/h over turn speed), and rating dropped from S to A.
Now every game is bumper cars. I assume I need to finish last in qualifying several times, and stay behind everyone, while also being careful of lapping cars to move back up?
3 clean mulitplayer races since, rating still A ā¦
I assume this is tied to the career save sync bug I have. Is some bull dung.
5 clean races?
OMG 2 to go in bumpercar realm
The last race was a KTM XBow (class exploiting) vs my 1976 SR Corolla.
We left the field for dead, and swapped lead maybe 20 times.
It was like real life track day racing.
This is the only reason I am still here in spite of the career mode save bug.
To the guy in the KTM : Cheers.
I THINK penalties are exploitable.
If you break in the driving line breaking zone, even 1% with 100% throttle, game AI (love you Skynet my future overlord - not a slur) gives penalty to the rammed car.

I have not repeated this more than twice, because I want my S rating back.
Might gamepass a 2nd account to verify.
But I am sure as long as you at least 1% break in the driving line breaking zone, car you shunt gets penalty, and muppets know this.
You misunderstand me.
I was working out why the guys using me as brakes never seemed to get penalised for sending me to the shadowrealm.
After the patch update, matchmaking for safety was supposed to be priority. I think itās improved but I think itās still broken. Iām S-4600 and some rooms are very clean but then others is a destruction derby especially with Turn 1.
So far the showcase rooms have been the best fun. Last week was the KTM, this week itās the Porsche GT3. Iām no fan of rear engine but Iām learning how to tune this thing to do what I need to drive it hard.
The biggest problem with this system is the lack of transparency, but i think thats by design. I think many are assuming since they are S class, that they are racing with all S class opponents, but that is not the case. Its the same with skill rating, theres no way to know what anyones skill is. There was also a bug that was putting people with the highest skill ratings with people that had the lowest safety scores, i dunno if this was fixed and this certainly didnāt help.
Its the same system from leagues in past motorsport games which had the same idea but inevitably failed due to lack of players especially at the ends of the spectrum. Since theres no way to check any of this besides asking everyone in the lobby what their skill and safety ratings are, it will continue this way.
Obviously everyone deserves a chance to increase skill as well as safety, so it is essential for a mix of players to be in lobbies but they have to have the right ratio. You cant have 3 S and 3 A and then a bunch of Cās. But this also depends on the number of people playing. If its mostly low skilled and low safety rated players, thats whats gonna be there.
It would be nice to know though because while i like winning, id rather lose to players around my skill rating then destroy lower rated ones, which is whats been happening to me.
Drive barely upgraded cars or cars multiple seconds off the pace and play when exhausted.
Been working wonders for me unintentionally.
Thats what i used to do but now that would just ruin my ratings, id say they should have ranked and unranked lobbies but i know thats not going to happen. I dont/wont play enough and especially at the times i play to easily get back to where i guess i should be so im not sure its worth doing that yet.
So you qualify 23/24⦠finish p14-p10⦠and complain that your skill rating is smack dab in the middle of the rating range?
Okay bud.
Itās completely broken⦠that E race was the cleanest race Iāve seen. I went for S to E to S in three clean races.
Agree. Iām playing from october 5 and my skill ratings holding about 4.5k but man, races getting even dirtier. Or itās because of game pass, more population in game, but iām not enjoying races, like before. Itās just getting worse. T10 need to do something with this skill rating and/or penalty system. And for more hardcore game put damage in multiplayer. I found that starting from last position without qualify is even more fun and enjoyable, rather put yourself in top 3 in qualify and you canāt even get to the 1st turn and you are out because of idiotsā¦
