Finally got an Xbox One (I know I’m late to the party lol). So just some quick background. I’ve been playing Forza 4 for about 3 years now (probably closer to 2 1/2). I wouldn’t say I’m the greatest driver, but I think I can definitely click off some fast laps, here’s some of my PBs:
low 1:40s @ Sonoma Full in mid R3 class ACR
1:33 @ Road Atlanta Full in an S class C6 Z06 (full weight, fully built NA engine, street tires, street brake upgrade etc.)
2:17s @ Sebring Full in same R3 class ACR mentioned above
I’m guessing the game driving dynamics wise the game is about the same? I know the rain will take some getting used to, but I’m a pretty quick learner.
Any other general tips?
Now it would be nice if I had the game now, but Gamestop screwed up. My brother and I bought an Xbox One that included a code for Forza 6, but never got the email with the code and it’s been a pain trying to get in contact with them to get the issue resolved. We’ve sent multiple emails and I’ve called multiple times only to wait for over half an hour and get no representative to pick up. It’s frustrating, but I’m praying they can resolve this and re-send the code. At least I have Madden and GTA to hold me, but those games aren’t Forza so…
Also, how does the C7 Z06 do on the track in terms of grip and handling? It’s one of my absolute favorite cars in real life, so I’m excited to try some hot lapping in it.
Don’t be too disappointed. They will never top Forza 4 and it’s features. Custom Public lobbies - gone, apparently never to return. 24 people lobbies are too big. Too much wrecking, corner cutting not penalized but it never has been. C7 cannot compete with the other Modern GT cars Other than that, it can be a lot of fun.
Brakes are a whole lot easier to lock up in Forza 6 than they are in Forza 4 if you don’t use ABS, but that is really the only major adjustment you have to make besides getting used to the slightly different physics.
I’ve seen some videos online and public lobbies look a complete mess. I may try out league racing instead as it looks to be more “tame”. Interesting to hear the C7 can’t really compete with other “GT” cars. Any particular reason why?
I play with ABS on personally, so I dont think that’s gonna be a big issue. I tried ABS off once and locked up brakes a bunch, so I haven’t really used it since. I’ve gotten a lot better since then including braking smoother, but there is times when I’ll see the ABS light flash during laps.
For anyone interested in what assists I use:
TCS off
Stability Control off
Manual shifting
ABS on
No braking line
Normal steering
Simulation fuel, damage, tire wear
Also, one more quick question. Since I’m tier 5 in the rewards system, will I get the free tier reward cars when I start up the game (and get done with the tuturial)?
Thank you to everyone for the replies and tips! Much appreciated!
Try abs off. You’ll feel the trigger rumble as you get close to locking up. Braking feels a bit more natural since you’re finally getting feedback from the controller.
You’ll need to learn manual with clutch if you venture out of some of the race cars. The older race cars for example are faster with clutch. You can remap the buttons so that clutch is the A button.
Yes, you will get reward cars and I think credits too.
If you have an Elite controller you can put the trigger lock on the brakes to makes abs off easier. Much harder to lock up but still possible. Is it a cheat? maybe but a lot of people do that. There is a lot worse stuff going on and hey Microsoft made the controller.
Welcome to forza 6 and like the others have said try not to be too disapointed as forza 4 is an extremely good game to compare it to. Never the less forza 6 is what we have and most of us are making the most of it. Biggest difference for me was how much you can tell your going up or down and the cambers of the tracks seem to be more prominent than forza 4. I think this is down to how accuratly the tracks have been transfered into the game. I found most of my lines for forza 4 worked on 6 but breaking points were vastly different. Don’t use the kerbs if you can avoid them and don’t use the grass to slow you down. Cutting is really easy on here even clean cuts are easy to the point where t10 attempted to fix the tracks but left the unbeatable lb times up check out monza.
That’s all I can think of at the moment, you won’t have any trouble picking this game up, everyone I know that was quick on 4 are faster on 6. Add me on xbl and GTR will be happy to show you round and get you up to speed
The game is extremely generous with credits. You’ll have quite a collection or cars within about ten hours of play and more than you could ever want after 100 hours of play.
I’m only comparing to 4. I play after I’m home from work and the wife and kids are in bed. I’ve had the game since last October and can carve out an hour or two when I don’t have to work late.
Hit me up if you’re looking for someone to play with. I’m in MST and can get on around 9 or 10 at night if all goes well!
That’s one thing that always drives me a little nuts about the guys that complain about credits being too easy to get in 6. Some of us get maybe a couple hours a week to play, and race cars get expensive. The DLC cars showing up without having to buy them was a nice difference from FM4.
Back on topic, the haptic triggers on the XBox One made it much easier to drive hardcore in 6 over 4. That was the single biggest improvement from one game to the other, for me, anyway.
They are too easy to get. Sorry. In addition the cars are super cheap. If you want to see car costs that make sense, go play FH3.
You don’t have to play all day to be filthy rich. I certainly didnt. It’s a myth that you need to play a lot to be rich. Maybe if you play on the easiest difficulty, don’t use credit mod cards, don’t use wheelspins, and don’t cash out on forza rewards you might have like 20 million.
It was harder to get credits in 4 and 6 has the most generous payout of any Motorsport title. Therefore the statement about easy forza 6 credits is true. For just about every player they will have more credits than they’ll ever need.
I absolutely agree with you, the economy in FM6 is a joke. I hope FM7’s economy will be similar to FM3/FM4, with credits harder to earn and some high-end cars costing at least 5-10 million credits.
Once again, this is only good for those who have the time to put in to grind, or like grinding.
If they go down this route, make two modes, one regular mode like Forza 6/Horizon 3, and one super ultra hardcore grindy mode. Just because you enjoy grinding does not mean that EVERYONE enjoys grinding. My enjoyment of this game is collecting cars, driving different cars and tuning them to my personal preferences. Needing to grind for money in order to do that takes away from my enjoyment of the game.
FM4 was harder but it wasn’t a grind. I was never hurting for credits and bought every car I wanted and then some. Other Motorsport games felt a bit more grindy but FM4 felt about right courtesy of the AH.
You’re consistently saying that we all fall into the uber grind category when none of us are saying that we want a game where it takes insane amounts of races to break the 1 million threshold. It’s annoying. I don’t like grinding but I hate handouts like what happened with the FM6 economy.
If you can’t play much, that sucks, but too bad. Gaming is a luxury.
The current economy is an absolute joke. It takes no time at all to get millions. I have a friend who barely plays due to military service and is rich in this game. Last we played he was bragging about all the prototypes he bought. This was after about 2 months of play time. It’s probably your play style that’s the issue. If you spend what time you have in activities that don’t generate income, then that’s why you’re Forza poor.
I don’t see why my playstyle should make my way of enjoying the game so much more difficult though. I tried The Crew the other month, and loved customising the cars on that. However, once I’d finished the “story” on it, I started buying cars. I managed to buy two cars with all their submodel thingies for upgrades, before I had to start getting money again. I looked at how much the cars cost and how long it would take for me to be able to get them, and took the game out of my disk drive, boxed it back up, and it’s been sat on my shelf ever since. Same goes for GTA 5, once they started adding things that were well out of the reach of me getting, to the point where if I wanted to get them, I’d have to pay hundreds of pounds in microtransactions. That’s another game that’s been shelved. I don’t want to shelf the Forza games, but it’ll end up happening if I’m not able to enjoy the game the way I want to enjoy it without needing to grind to be able to do it.
