Doing qualifying earlier @ Le Mans in P-Class and the tire wear seems to be abit bonkers to say the least!
I’m presuming the algorithm is to be 6x faster based on the specific session length as opposed to the overall race length.
2 lap qualifying on softs, by the time I get to Indianapolis (approx 2/3) on lap 1 the rears are going and by Porsche curves they’re gone. Lap 2 becomes an ice rink. Mediums it’s the same story albeit they go off at the start of lap 2.
Come the race and the mediums hold out much much longer and your 2nd race lap pretty much is always quicker than qualifying. It’s not me learning the circuit, I’ve got countless hours around Le mans. It’s weird when qualifying and the race are the same length.
It’s not as pronounced on other circuits. Might just be an oddity (or me) due to the lap length of Le Mans.
Imo the degredation progression is too quick even on short multiplayer races. It feels really forced to have the go off so fast.
So I’ve noticed after this latest update, that in the single player career racing, tire wear is… fairly aggressive. After having to pit and lost races because my tires don’t last the full race, and fall just short, I conducted an experiment. 10 laps at Grand Oak club circuit, and I found that soft tires and medium tires wore out at exactly the same point, 8 laps. With hard tires lasting 9. This doesn’t seem right to me. Anyone else experience the same thing?
Did you? I didn’t see it lol. But yeah, its so bad even in single player. Also, I wish we could turn down the tire wear multiplier. In career its at 6x, and only seems to effect us, and not AI. I understand trying to make the game more challenging, but when you have a 9 lap career race, and have to pit at 8 laps… thats not a challenge, that’s an impossibility, especially when you are the ONLY ONE PITTING!
Is it just me or is the tire wear much more rapidly after upgrade 11? I am racing the Corvettes in the new career events and the Corvette #3 C7 is wearing out tires to halfway point with only 4 laps at Watkins Glen?
When I switch to softs, it says a pit is needed. In 4 laps? We literally just did endurance racing not that long ago and that was with 3x tire wear and tires didn’t wear out this quickly.
Can someone else confirm this is happening on their end as well?
Edit: just did 4 laps at Sebring and medium tires were at roughly 30 percent left.
Yeah this new Road to Race career event has the same tire wear multiplier as online multiplayer races (6X) and you can’t adjust it - before it was 1x. I’m not sure if it’s a bug or a feature
Also noticing very rapid tire wear with the Nissan P1 cars too. I think the lobby settings are to blame.
If the race was only 1 lap, the tires would be severely worn by the end of it. The wear seems to be based on the percentage of the race distance, irrespective of the number of laps.
