This is the last straw for me. The game uninstalled itself. I'm done

Well, I wanted to do the daily challenges Sunday-Wednesday to wrap up Min Meet Max. FH5 forced me to install the new set of bugs update. I let it install and fired up FH3. As I feared, it wasn’t running optimal (update or game) so I closed FH3, restarted my Xbox One, and tried again.

Yet it still wasn’t updating. Stuck where it was when I restarted. Okay, cool, let’s cancel the update and start over.

WRONG.

The game uninstalled itself when I did that. All 127.61 GB. Both expansions. Every update. The game took 10 HOURS to install originally.

I’m guessing I also just lost all of my progress, the hundreds of hours I put in to basically 100% the game (Min Meet Max was the one achievement I was missing, I had all cars I wanted except the Nissan Safari).

I’m done. This is a joke. I don’t feel like waiting the combined 20+ hours to reinstall everything. I just can’t anymore. I want a refund but I know it’s too late. Screw these devs.

no bro, the datas don’t cancel themselves. when you cancel midway trough an update it automatically disinstall the game, it’s not forza, its almost every game (happened to me with halo).
So no your datas are fine you just need to install the game again, maybe next time if you now your conncetion sucks or the hardware is old leave it updating and don’t play

I wouldn’t think you have lost anything bc the system syncs to the Forza servers every time you start the game. It sounds more like an issue with your ISP as far as the speed concern, but randomly uninstalling the game seems really bizarre; I don’t know that I’ve ever heard of that. I know if you have any other games running in the background when updating or DL’ing, it can greatly effect the speed (but pretty sure you already know that). Good luck with it; hopefully you get it resolved & your controller is still in one piece )

This had been happening since at least 2018 based on my search for users with the same problem.

It’s not a Forza problem.

You cancelled an update in progress. If left alone you’d have had a corrupted game install.

My controller is still in one piece, but if I didn’t have FH2/3/4 it would be through my window and in the neighbor’s yard.

So basically what I’m getting from this is that canceling an UPDATE deletes AN ENTIRE GAME? W T H Microsoft?!

@robotiChart Corrupted game install? Could you explain that for someone who doesn’t know much about this?

The update is over writing game data. You’ll notice that the update size is X GB but the game size doesn’t increase by that.

So cancelling the update leaves the game in a broken state with some files updated and others not.

Interesting, thanks for the info.

I don’t blame you. I completed a ton in the festival playlist in FH5, and when I went in the next day, the game crashed, and deleted all my progress on the festival playlist and I lost my wheelspin rewards and cars!! It wasn’t fair! I haven’t wanted to play Forza since…

Either way, you’d need to reinstall.

Idk how Sony do their updates for comparison

Wow, that’s messed up. Especially with all those playlist cars, many of which are darn near impossible to get now.

I think if you submit a ticket, they’ll give you your cars, money, and wheelspins back, but they can’t restore progress, which sucks.

Overall this game is much worse than the others before it so I’m not surprised whenever I hear about a new bug. Just shocked it happened to me this time.

How much free space did you have on your hard drive where FH5 was installed and did you see how much it was downloading?

Did the same thing on gt5 and it also deleted the whole game, but you know sometimes things happen for a reason

Side note: Xbox game updates install on the fly as they download, hence the uninstall if you cancel.

Upshot is that the process is faster.

PS updates are downloaded as an update which you then need to apply. Downside is that it’s a slower process over all.

I don’t know exactly but it was more than enough for the update.

Seems the far smarter way to do it. I mean “stuff” happens. Brown outs, black outs, cats pulling out internet or power cables, servers going down somewhere between here and there, aliens… any number of things could interrupt the “update” and corrupt it…

MS “Sucks to be you, reinstall your whole game again.”

Sony “We know stuff happens, especially aliens, try the update again after the black choppers chase them off.”

…one more reason on the Sony side for my looming console upgrade decision

Yeah we’re beta testers. Now that I’ve installed FH5, if I play TC2 and switch to FH5 I have to do a hard reset on my xbox to get FH5 to load. Otherwise it just freezes on one of the load screens.

I can switch to any other game without issues. And I can switch from FH5 to TC2 without issues.

And FH5 is constantly giving me disconnect messages.

I think I’m going to ditch FH5, install MotoGT. See if it rides better from the console than from the cloud.

It’s a sad state of a game when the developers don’t care to listen to the players and start a conversation to improve the state of the game. Even compounded by the forum moderator answering those complaints with the same trite reply as the FH5 fankids (ref: FH5 & sustainability thread) ; if you don’t like the game, find something else". Which is a bold statement telling us the developers have no intention on changing the course and content of the game. Our complaints are falling on deafness.

I guess it is time to move forward. This comment will probably get flagged, removed, or cause the thread to get locked down. But that will show us how much they care.

I expect Cloud Gaming (how is it STILL beta ?) is only going to get worse with the “news” that Gold is changing and more bite the bullet and get Ultimate. I’ve already seen the “Too many players, wait time 10 minutes.” message too many times, and then the game finally starts and is laggy as… Yeah, just install it, probably quicker, certainly more playable. Ain’t Cloud Gaming awesome !

Well said as always Ron. I think the fact that Max always posts asking us to report bugs in the new updates says it all. We are truly just beta testers. They can’t even be bothered to find the bugs in their update, leave it to the players. They are never going to change the direction of this game, and everybody who doesn’t like it can kick rocks, apparently.

Wait, what? I don’t keep up with this stuff, something with Xbox Live Gold?
