Forza 5 stuck at loading screen

Can anyone offer me advice? My forza 5 game will not go past the Mclaren p1 loading screen after pressing “a” to “play game”. I have tried restarting my console and quiting out of the game but still not loading. The game just loads and loads as the loading symbol spins but nothing happens. Any advice is appreciated!

You said restarting your console, but when you were in the Dashboard, did you hold the power button on the front of the Xbox One until it shut down by itself, then remove the power pack plug from the wall (completely disconnecting the power). Wait like three minutes until all the power is drained, then plugging the power pack back into the electrical connection, and then start your console as you would regularly do?

You will have a green screen loading as the system is checked by Live, then boot eventually (after maybe 30 seconds) to the Dashboard. From there, sign into Live, and then go into the games section to make sure the download has been completed. Make sure there are NO pending downloads or updates to the game, and that all have completed to 100%. After that, go back to the dash and try the game again.

I had a similar problem happen last night. I was in between races in career mode, waiting for the Nurbergring to load. I waited an abnormally long time and the game just stayed at the loading screen. Eventually when I knew it was never going to load I hit the Xbox button on my controller to go home and then quit Forza. When I tried to load the game again, it would show the orange P1 for maybe 5 seconds then the game would automatically jump back to the Xbox home page.

I followed some advice I found on youtube that told me to hold the X on the console for 10 seconds, then unplug all wires from the console, hold the X again for 10 seconds, then plug everything back in and start the console up. That seemed to work, and I was able to start the game again, however when I went back to career mode, the game stayed at the Nurbergring loading screen forever, and then when I quit I was back to the same problem.

Oh and as a side note, after I quit from the Nurbergring loading screen, if I went to try and uninstall the game, it didn’t appear to do anything… It was too late last night so I left it at that, but when I get home from work today I will try uninstalling it after doing the hard reset and see what happens.

Having the very same issues as of late unfortunately. I hope H2 doesn’t act up.

Everyone is getting it at the moment

just hard reset by holding the X on the console for 5 sec till it powers down then give it 20 secs before starting the console back up and load the game again and it will work.

no need to unplug wires and all that.

you wil then get this again after a couple multiplayer races… its very frustrating!

This seems to be a problem with the latest Xbox update rather than with Forza

Now its gone past Forza and all games will do the very same. Seriously disturbing. Is Microsoft going to fix this issue?

This is not a turn 10 issue. It’s 100% xbox live nonsense. Until Microsoft gets around to implementing a fix you can regain limited usability by song as follows-

  1. Restart your console. If you have just had the game freeze on you then you’ll need to do a hard restart. (Hold the back lit power button on the consol itself for approximately 5 seconds, then power back up once it’s been turned off for a second.)

  2. BEFORE you interact with Forza in any way, go to your system settings. (The icon is a little gear symbol).
Now go into network settings and disconnect from xbox live.
At this point you can fire up Forza and race all of your cars on any track in career mode. You can free play and tune to your hearts content as well. The only limitations being that you won’t have access to multiplayer lobbies, rivals or be able to download other users tunes and paint jobs (have to connect to xbox live, aquire any player created content you want, exit the game and restart your console again then disable your xbox live connection before you can race without freezes. Once you have been on forza while connected to xbox live the freeze problem will persist even if you disconnect from xbox live before attempting to enter a race.)
Starting forza while online = no racing problematic cars/tracks until a reset has been completed.

I know this is far from a solution but for those of you who find enjoyment from career races, free play or tuning this will at least give you full usage of those features. Best of luck everyone and while you are unable to join multi player lobbies try to take comfort in the thought of how many talentless goons won’t be ramming the daylights out of you as they refuse to lift throttle going into turn 1. Instead you just have to deal with their drivatars… ramming the daylights out of you as they refuse to lift throttle going into turn 1.

It’s not just related to Forza anymore. I recently tried to play other games and it crashed back to dashboard.

It may happens only to dashboard preview users among my friends… including me.

I just went back to Forza 4 until Microsoft fixes this problem. It’s still a heckuva game and more fun than doing a hard reboot for my XBone every five minutes.

I just said screw it. Contacted microsoft and have a new free Xbone on the way. Wait, I’m a preview user…

Not a bad idea, presumably you get a fresh warranty with it!

Like a few others have mentioned, the problem seems to filter into other games as well. After I do a hard reset, Forza will seem to work fine (meaning it will get past the orange P1 without kicking you out) but when you go to load Nurbergring it’ll sit there forever and never load. Once you quit out of Forza and try to reload, you’re back to being kicked out after a few seconds of looking at the orange P1.

Anyway, after that I tried playing other games in my collection and it started doing the same thing (kicking you out after a few seconds of loading) until I do the hard reset. I plan on trying the suggestion of disconnecting from Xbox Live/internet connection before loading Forza and see if that helps. I am almost done career mode (driver level is over 130) so I would really like to finish it. I know FH2 is out in a few days and soon that will take up most of my time, however I still want to continue playing FM5. I hope Microsoft/Turn 10 fixes this problem soon.

Oh and I forgot to mention that I tried going into Rivals mode and racing on another track (Catalunya) and it gave the same problems as loading Nurbergring, so it appears this problem isn’t just with the one track.

After doing a hard reset and then removing the Ethernet cable from the X1 I started up Forza 5. I was finally able to continue my career and did 3 races before the problem came back… I can’t remember which track was loading, but it seems I keep discovering new tracks that have problems… Anyway what I’m going to try next is doing a hard reset then uninstalling not only Forza 5 but also whatever DLC I have (last time I just uninstalled FM5), then see what happens. This is getting really annoying…

Don’t bother, I already done the uninstall thing twice now, even erasing my save and redownloading via the cloud. It’s just a nasty bug in the dash, it’s also having problems displaying my friends list too. I hope MS get a fix out soon!

Disconnecting from the internet did nothing. Nor does hard resetting as the problem is persistent and returns quickly.

First rule of anyone doing any “beta” testing, including on the Xbox One, is NEVER USE beta software on a “production” machine. That includes the Xbox One if you’re expecting it to behave correctly. Unfortunately, the One isn’t a PC where you could have a separate partition on your hard drive and keep the not-quite-ready-for-release software away from damaging your operations or other software.

Second, if you are having networking issues on a wired connection to your router/modem/gateway, such as drops, being returned to the Dashboard or inability to join multiplayer games, go to Settings/Network and see what information is listed there before posting to a game forum. If it shows your NAT (Network Address Translation) Type: as Strict, do the Test multiplayer connection. If it shows “It’s all good. There are no problems with your connection for multiplayer” but still displays “Strict” for your NAT, do the following:

Before a hard reset (described in my post earlier in this thread), press L1+L2+R1+R2 at the multiplayer test results screen. Results will be displayed in the Detailed NAT information area, such as “Your network is behind a port-symmetric NAT”. Now exit back to the Dashboard and do the hard reset of the console as I previously described. Wait the suggested time with the power totally disconnected from the One and the external power pack, then reconnect and try again.

NAT? Is that like a DNF??? Seriously, most of what you just typed might as well be in Japanese as far as I’m concerned as I understand next to none of it. Got a version for us old school types, you know the type that still has a rotary phone in their house??? Obviously, this is not an issue on an individual user level or a Beta issue either. I was on last night with some friends and trying to run a private lobby. It was ridiculous… Are we going to be subjected to this crap every few weekends now? The Free Forza weekend was a disaster and the problem wasn’t corrected until well into the day on Monday (might have even been Tuesday, honestly don’t remember). Obviously, this isn’t getting fixed until Monday either. I guess Microsoft’s idea of customer service is to fix things on Monday? Here’s the thing, the customers who have pumped millions and millions of dollars into Microsoft’s pockets for the XBone spend the majority of their time gaming on the weekend. If I ran my business with that level of customer service, I wouldn’t be in business. I’m betting that three weeks from now, it will be something else and the game will be unplayable for another weekend. We get all these updates and yet the problems are getting worse instead of better.

I’m not blaming T10 as I don’t care if its the fault of MS, T10, Intel, Pepsi, Coke, or Papa Johns. Just fix it without making us go through yet another weekend of the game being virtually unplayable.
