I’ve been playing Forza since FM2, but i’ve never bought a single car pack because I don’t agree with the idea 100%.
On one hand, I understand that extra content was made to be sold for those who want it.
On the other hand, I ask myself “How can GT6 keep adding more cars & tracks for free?”
Maybe the quantity of GT6 DLC doesn’t match the quantity of Forza DLC, but it’s still free…
I don’t think car packs will ever be free, but I would love to select maybe 2 cars (at no cost) from of any car pack that comes out for Forza 6.
I think it’s another great opportunity for Forza to improve. What do you think?
Forza 5 gave out plenty of cars for free and all of it’s DLC tracks for free. Not to mention Forza 5’s standards are an entire generation ahead of GT6.
I think Turn 10 have been more than reasonable so far.
No, two generations ahead. Remember that many of GT6’s cars are PS2 quality. They look the same, drive the same, and sound the same as they did in GT4.
Yeah tracks we already had I hope they don’t charge us for existing content agian I hope we get 1000 plus cars like grantourismo and used cars was so cool it was more real that way that and better sim racing would be great
Turn 10 provides the most value per dollar when it comes to DLC. I don’t know so much about Playground Games, but they’re not too bad either.
If you wanna see a ripoff go play the modern NFS games. On NFS HP (2010) a DLC pack of three cars cost me $6. That’s a lot of money for some poorly detailed cars that all use the same physics just with different top speed and acceleration values.
Meanwhile, with FM I believe you pay $6 for 10 cars, all of which are extremely high detail, have completely unique physics, and can be painted and tuned infinitely. If anything Turn 10 should charge more for their DLC.
You should get your facts right before posting. Its £7.99 UK or $9.99 US for a ten car pack. Which over 6 packs and booster packs is quite a significant amount tbf .considering all the early packs brought nothing hardly new to the franchise and were the same cars mostly from f1-f4.
That being said the hot wheels and booster packs stepped it up by bringing some truly awesome new cars to the franchise which i happily paid for. The first few packs were a joke and included cars that did’nt justify a 20% increase in original game price i paid .
People need to look at dlc as an increase in the original value of they game and ask themselves if it justifys a price increase. One car pack equalls roughly a 20%increase in price. When considering the original came with over 200 cars are ten(5%) worth a 20% price hike?
My “facts” were based on FM4, not whatever FM5 or FH2 are doing. FM4’s DLC was $6.99 at regular price per pack (about $0.69 per car). The season pass was $29.99, which covered 6 car packs at a discount of $1 per pack (about $0.49 per car).
So with that information, we go back to NFS HP (2010)… That DLC was also $6.99 per pack, except you only got 3 cars (6 if you consider the police and racer versions separate cars), meaning it cost about $2.33 per car. That’s a BIG difference in cost when compared to FM4.
So again, in my opinion Turn 10 (based solely on FM4’s prices) offers the best value per dollar when it comes to DLC.
I don’t mind paying for DLC if it truly adds to the game. I’m glad F5 tracks were free considering how few tracks came with the game, however let’s say The next Forza 6 has as many tracks as Forza 4, and they decided to add new tracks well I could see paying for that DLC cause of the mony invested to laser scan the tracks and man hours it would take to get them ready for the game. However I would not pay for fantasy made tracks like Prague, or alpine.
I totally agreed with you until you mentioned Prague and bernese alps. Theses tracks are highly detailed and probably took more hours to produce as their are the signature tracks for 4&5 and are very welcome to forza imo .
On one hand, all of the “DLC” so far has been provided in free updades. To date, there has been around ~25 cars and one track (and one slightly different version of a track already in the game). To put this in perspective, the game came out in 2013.
A majority of these DLC cars have been the Vision Gran Turismo concepts, which are not real cars, but design studies essentially commissioned by Polyphony. Many of these cars have no interior views, and some still have PS2-era sounds. The game lacks any new major production cars released in 2013 or later, and has not utilized DLC to add them.
The game was advertised to have a GPS-enabled track creator and online clubs among other hotly anticipated features. Most of these have yet to be added to the game.
My point is, GT6 is really not a good thing to compare Forza 6 to. You don’t want Turn 10 making their DLC like that.
My prediction of the future of FM DLC is the same as what we’ve already got. Ten cars per pack, for six or seven US dollars, with an eclectic mixture of vehicle types instead of themed packs.
I don’t mind if they continue with DLC car packs. I tend not to buy them but this doesn’t impact on the game as you can still be competitive with standard cars. If DLC start to top the leaderboards (as has happened in the past) then this is where it starts to get a bit cynical. DLC tracks should NEVER cost otherwise MP becomes a joke. These cars take time and resource to create so whilst you could discuss what is a fair price and should they be bundled with other cars you may not want or sold separately, I do think it’s perfectly reasonable to pay for them.
Yes, i buy most dlc also but is the cost in relation to the
cars you get. I think not. Dlc is quite good as it adds depth
and longevity to a game but the same old recycled turd
is insulting and a rip off.
Im not one for that. Im questioning their pricing and is
it really worth it? I think not.
Perhaps they should look at their pricing model then. If only 10% of FM buyers also buy DLC then increasing the game price by 10% (£5-6 or $8-10) would net the same revenue and all DLC would be free. TBH when you buy a game these days now they’ve gone over £50 another few quid to include future DLC wouldn’t be too bad.
Free DLC would be glorious; plus it would make T10 look great too. I actually wouldn’t mind paying $15-20 more for the game if I know that all the DLC is going to be free.
Not that this is related, but i’m going to buy Witcher 3 JUST because the developers said that their DLC will be free; it just goes to show what some generosity can do.
So… you would rather the game cost another $15-$20? Meaning that all the people who never buy any DLC, or perhaps only ever bought a couple cars, totaling less than $10, would instead be forced to pay another $20 for something they don’t want?
I don’t know much about the Witcher game(s), but a cursory search shows that the Free DLC will be in the form of: horse armor?? beards??? hair styles??? Sounds a lot like special paint jobs given out free by Turn 10. Or maybe T-10 could hold back some bumpers, side-skirts, wings, etc, and then they too could be offering “Free DLC”
Personally, I like it the way it is: New content available for reasonable cost (each pack is less than the cost of a movie ticket) but remaining 100% optional.
Im in a dilemma. I purchased f5 for £42 and have spent £52 on dlc. Thank god the tracks were free.
I want to hot lap r1 class but theirs a car that’s miles ahead of anything other. The Mazda 575b. Which will cost me £16 to buy and compete with.
Now tell me dlc is fair.
Edit sorry the Mazda in p class. Nothing still comes close even now with all the dlc
