So I race clean and try to be as nice as I can to someone if I bump them off. I have been fortunate enough to race with a few great people who do the same.
I also go through the motions of reporting and blocking poor drivers from the lobbies.
My most recent incident makes me feel like there is absolutely no point in reporting. I have watched a guy in A Class hoppers racing dirty all week. He runs people off the track, cuts corners and track extends at every opportunity. I went through the process of blocking him and hoping he cops his much deserved ban.
Today I get into a hopper and guess what… there is a level 9 driver, gamertag is identical except for an ‘x’ popped onto the end of it. Exact same car and livery as the one ive been dealing with all week. He is in the hopper doing the exact same thing…
I have no issues reporting him again, the issue I have is whether it has any real point as this guy is clearly going to just create another gamertag and do the same thing over again. I see people retaliate and get banned themselves but after this experience I can certainly associate with their reasoning to some degree… there is clearly nothing Turn10 can do to fix the issue and I expect little ongoing support once Horizon 3 comes out as it will absorb most of the resources.
Yeah but from what I understand Turn10 only ban the GT and not the Xbox or IP address. Not even sure Microsoft would impose a ban on anything otherthan a specific GT
Trick is to change what you race for. At the beginning of the race pull off to the side and let everyone pass you. You’re new objective is to get the fastest lap time. If, after the first few races, everybody is racing clean, then just keep up with everyone and race for first place.
That’s what I do. That or I just ask everyone how the lobby is when I join. And people are usually straight forward. They either say it’s a destruction derby, it’s clean or they call out the dirty players. Also, if no one has a Mic but you do, they can hear you and they usually vote to kick whoever you say to.
Kinda off topic: if I block a GT, does that mean I won’t be in any lobby’s with them?
Not in FM6…blocking a gt will
only prevent them from messaging you. I remember in FM4 you could block people and the game would try not to put you in the same lobby. Worked at least 90% of the time. FM6 was supposed to automatically put you with like minded people but has failed miserably in that respect or else the game is loaded with dirty drivers.
I don’t think any matchmaking would work in Forza, because players don’t join the lobby the game suggests for them, they keep on leaving and re-joining until they find one they like the look of.
T10 would be better off just listing the lobbies and let the player choose one, because that’s what happens anyway, albeit in the most absurdly inefficient and longwinded way possible.
The problem withe all of this, there simply isn’t a big enough pool of players for more than 1-3 rooms for a given class/restriction. If there’s is only 24 player, how do you separate the clean from the dirty, or the fast from slow and still maintain good sizes races.
The clean and dirty and fast and slow aren’t separated right now. They’re all lumped in together. Making the lobbies visible wouldn’t fix that, but at least it would get rid of the stupid and pointless join/ quit/ join/ quit dance players have to do to find one they like.
Pretty sure I saw a Mod post somewhere that you can get banned even further by creating another GT to dodge a current ban, so you may want to include that he’s dodging a ban in your report of the new GT.
If I’m in a rough lobby I’ll pull off to the side at the start and make it a game of seeing how far up from last I can finish.
Usually the intentional wreckers are bowling through turn 1 so if you can Days of Thunder your way through the carnage you’ll be fine for the rest of the race.
Converse to this discussion is another dilemma - I consider myself a clean driver. I go out of my way to avoid contact (but I have made mistakes, believe me). But a certain frustration takes over after you’ve been bumped, bashed and pole-axed in 6 straight races. You find yourself being a little less “polite” in some races.
Some people are in the race without a clue of what’s going on around them, and you have to get by them. They’re not following the racing line, they have no idea who’s around them, or if they’re in everyone’s way - easily 2-3 seconds a lap off the pace. They’re in their own world, blithely and ignorantly getting in everyone’s way. The only way by them quickly is to be a little more aggressive than you normally would be. I’ve been there, and since you only have a second or two to make this decision you wnd up muscling your way past people and making new enemies.
To the OP - my sympathies. I don’t have a formula to this, I tend to either persevere or quit depending on my mood. I know it’s irritating, but not everyone has your standards or knowledge.
On another point, I read (maybe on here) that if you voted to kick someone - and they were kicked - then the game will not let them join a lobby you are currently in. I have no way of checking whether this is true. If it is, it would be easier to do in public lobbies rather than leagues (presumably)
Yeah, I will just have to stick to ghost leagues whenever the trolls are around, just wish the whole vote kick system and banning process was easier and more effective.
There is absolutely no point in reporting people. Turn 10 expects us to save every replay and send them an email every single time you run into a bad driver. If I went through the process of reporting every single person who ruins this game, I’d literally never have time to even play the game. I’d spend all my time on my email account blowing up Turn 10’s inbox, and I’m a gamer, not a secretary. They only let you save around 10 replays, and I really had rather save those slots for actual races, so I can go back and watch action, not watch some idiot in a leaderboard car divebomb me off the track because he’s upset about me being in his way when he comes through without a care in the world to actually try to pass me. To be honest, I just wait for the angry kids to message me cussing me out, then I just report it for language. That’s honestly the only satisfaction you can get. I too get tired of seeing the same people every single day crashing me off the track. It’s becoming disheartening. They expect us to just shut up, sit back, let people bully us around, and report them, which does absolutely nothing. Also, people get unfairly reported on this game, and their reputation suffers, then their accounts that they pay for get essentially broken because once your rep goes to “avoid me,” then you can’t find any games. It’s disgusting. If you run into me, then blame me, run me off the track, ruin my race, report me, I’ll get punished.
