Support Ticket Issues

Thought I’d share this exchange I had with PGG Forza Support.

TLDR; I’m not sure why PGG bother having a support ticket service as they’re utterly useless.

Full story:

So for context, I hit the design save file limit issue, came to the forums, saw a fair amount of people had encountered the same but couldn’t find any official comments from PGG reps on a fix/workaround. I found the issue on the known bugs tracker too but same deal. So I decided to open a support ticket…

What followed was horrendous customer service from what I hope was a bot or maybe it was a human who deals with so much of this they’ve lost the will to even feign being interested in providing a decent level of customer service anymore. Either way, nothing says “we don’t care about your problems with our product” quite like closing a ticket as resolved despite the issue still being present and not so much as offering even a tad of info around if a fix is even being looked at

I deleted all my custom liveries and started afresh working through my car collection creating just a single design for each car to try and avoid hitting the known “Too Many Saves Error”.

I own 1 of every car in the game. I’m working through the cars alphabetically, currently up to Nissan so approximately 400/680 but I’ve now come up against the problem which seems to indicate you can’t own and customise the design of every car available?

Can you advise of a workaround to this issue? It seems strange I can apply upgrades without needing to save a tune but I can’t apply a livery design without needing a save?

Hello,

Please try the following things for the platform you’re playing on and try to sync your save after each step:

If you get the message to pick between save files please note the wording is confusing. The date is when the save was created, not when it was last saved.

PC Windows Version

  • If possible try to load your save on a different device. (A different PC or Xbox)
  • Please restart your PC then load your game to sync data.
  • Please try to manually update the game and any DLC using the Microsoft Store.
  • UWP Reset Application
    • Windows>Settings>Applications>title>Advanced Options>Reset
  • Perform a Windows Store reset
    • Uninstall Forza
    • Press the Win+R keys to open the Run dialog.
    • Type WSReset.exe, and click/tap on OK.
    • The WSReset tool resets the Windows Store without changing account settings or deleting installed apps.
    • A command prompt will now open without any message. After about 30 seconds, the command prompt will automatically close, and the Microsoft Store app will open.
    • Install Forza

PC Steam Version

  • Please restart your PC then load your game to sync data.
  • Please try to manually update the game
    • Select Library and verify there are no pending updates
    • Find the game on your game list and check if there are any updates
  • Reset your copy of Forza on Steam
    • Right click Forza from your games list
    • Select Properties from the context menu
    • From the Properties menu select Local Files
    • Click ‘Verify Integrity of Local Game Files…’

Xbox

  • If possible, try to load your save on a different device. (A different PC or Xbox)
  • Make sure the console has the most up to date OS version installed.
  • Please try manually updating the game and any DLC using the Store/Games & Apps.
  • Remove the Game from Quick Resume
    • Fully close the game
    • Navigate to the Xbox Dashboard
    • Press Xbox Button on controller to open the guide
    • Select My Games & Apps
    • Select More Options
    • Select Remove from Quick Resume
    • Launch the game
  • Try pressing and holding the power button on your console until it turns off, unplug it from the power supply for 10 minutes, plug it back in and see if it continues.
  • Resync your save to the cloud?
    • Go to Manage Game > Saved Data > your profile > Delete from console.
    • Do not select Delete from Everywhere as this will delete ALL of your data.
    • Relaunch the game and let it sync to the cloud.
  • Reset your console by going to the system’s settings, console info, reset console and choose the option “Reset and keep my games & apps”
  • Uninstall then reinstall the game and any DLC.
    • Uninstall the game. After the game is uninstalled, uninstall a couple different games/apps or install some games/apps so that when you reinstall the game, it’s installed to a different part of the HDD.

Hi,

I’ve worked through all of the suggestions but sadly the issue is still persisting.

Many thanks,

Hello

If you are getting an error message indicating Too Many Saves please try the following troubleshooting.

Please try deleting any extra tunes, designs, photos or blueprints you are not using.

  • If you go to Garage>Designs&Paints>My Designs - you will be able to delete downloaded liveries.
  • Likewise if you go to Garage>Upgrades&Tuning>My Tunes - you will be able to delete tunes for the current car.
  • To delete blueprints you will need to delete the routes connected to that blueprint. To do this you must first go through the process of creating a new route to get to the menu where you can name and save the new route. In that same menu you can highlight other saved routes and delete them.

As an alternative you can manually delete your save and start a new save. Though this is not recommended as it involves deleting all your save information. If you decide to go this route you will need to use an Xbox One to make sure your save is deleted from everywhere.

XBOX -

  1. On Home, select My games and apps.
  2. Highlight the game, press the Menu button on your controller, and then select Manage game.
  3. In the menu on the left of the screen, scroll down to Saved Data, then highlight the saved data for your gamertag on the right and press the A button on your controller.
  4. You’ll be prompted to confirm deletion of this game save data: (You need to select Delete Everywhere in order for this to work)
*Delete from console removes the local copy of this save. You can get it from the cloud the next time you play.
*Delete everywhere removes your saved data from this console, the cloud, and all other consoles you play on.
    *Cancel leaves your data intact.

If you get the message to pick between save files please note the wording is confusing. The date is when the save was created, not when it was last saved.

We are currently investigating this issue and have added your information to our investigation. I am marking this ticket as “Solved” as we do not require more information from you for our investigation and we don’t need to bother your with a ton of questions or troubleshooting tips as its being worked on by our devs already.

Hi,

I don’t have any downloaded liveries, all I have is a single livery for each vehicle that I own, obviously deleting these isn’t an option. I own all the cars in the game and I was working through designing them all. I got up to Nissan so I’m around 2/3rds of the way through the garage respraying cars and changing their designs, I’m guessing around 400 cars in? Can you confirm if there is a limit on designs and what that is?

I don’t have any saved tunes for my vehicles so that’s not a concern.

I don’t have any blueprints either.

Deleting my save and creating a new one isn’t really an option as I’d just hit the same issue?

You mentioned this is a known issue and it is being worked on, can you provide some information on what fix is being put in place and what the ETA is on it being delivered?

Can you please keep this ticket open as my issue isn’t “solved” and I’d like to keep track of it whilst it still exists.

Many thanks,

Hello,

Unfortunately, I do not have an estimated date on the fix for this issue.

Also, we cannot keep this ticket open if we do not have any more available troubleshooting steps for this issue. Our devs are investigating and are working on this issue.

We will send out an announcement to the Community when we have a resolution.

Thank you for your patience,

Hi,

Can you confirm what the limits are for designs? It’s a fairly fundamental feature being able to respray cars and given it’s tied to a save file if there is a limit in place it would be good to confirm what that is?

I understand not committing to a Production release date but I’ve been looking through the community forums and it seems this is a matter of great concern amongst players. At what stage is the fix currently at, still in the Concept/Design Phase? Development? User Acceptance Testing? Pre-Production?

Many thanks,

And that’s it! Apologies for the lengthy post but I wanted to show the whole conversation.

After their final reply they then closed the ticket and bravely dared to ask for my feedback :rofl:

Anybody else had experiences like this with support?

The Forza team has a list of Known Issues they are working on. Until all are resolved, some players will be affected and frustrated not only by the bug but because the team cannot provide a timeline for when everything will be resolved.

There is a limit to the number of saved files in the game which is lower than the total number of cars available to own. Again, this is not a desirable feature, but an in-game limit is not necessarily a bug. We encourage you to vote on topics where you’d like to see game features introduced or changed, such as the file save limit which we can use to encourage the developers to look at.

For topics that are listed as Bug-Logged in the Known Issues section of the Troubleshooting Hub, the situation is as was described to you above - the team is investigating and at some point may be able to address it, but until then we have no further information.

Please read through our Suggestions Hub and Troubleshooting Hub articles to understand the process.

Until the topic is addressed, the workaround is to delete files when you reach the limit, or if deleting and the steps provided by Support do not clear an error, wait until a fix is deployed. If it’s not fixed yet, it’s not fixed. “We will send out an announcement to the Community when we have a resolution.” Once this has been stated by Support and a ticket has been closed, please do not try to reopen the same topic. Thanks for your patience.

First of all @T10ManteoMax, thank you for your reply that’s actually the most comprehensive answer I’ve received/seen on the subject so far.

But that begs the question why the support agent didn’t provide the same level of detail in the ticket I raised instead of being blatantly evasive? Or why (to my knowledge) this is the first time any Forza representative has spoken out on it on the forums? Surely it shouldn’t take players calling out the team directly to charge a response on a matter?

Ultimately THAT^ seems to be the point of frustration from this community, either feeling a complete lack of communication or general poor communication when things are rarely addressed. I totally understand not wanting to commit to delivering fixes/features that may turn out to be undeliverable but that doesn’t mean you can’t speak out on them, in fact on the contrary it would be good to get progress updates on these, especially on the long term bugs. I don’t see why it would be an issue to periodically give status updates on these alongside the news on feature releases we get?

That’s a good point about the voting for features section of the forum for anybody else reading this and I have previously voted for this one (and would implore all forum members to do the same), it’s currently stood at ~220 votes, how does this rate in terms of priority against other feature requests? The known bug item was listed in Feb 2022, whilst the forum feature request was listed in July 2022. With numerous vehicle releases and a forthcoming expansion growing the garage count since then you can see why members of the community 9months on would at least want to hear something from the devs on the issue?

I agree to some extent that the save limit isn’t a bug but only when that limit is public knowledge with a reasonable technical explanation as to why it’s in place. To stumble across it and only receive a generic error and no further elaboration from support absolutely makes it appear as a bug. And not to dive too far into semantics around definitions of bugs, but if a feature prevents a fundamental operation within a product from being executed limiting the operation of the product, it’s absolutely a bug

haha seriously, what kind of solution is that?

A genius one from supports perspective…

It means they won’t hear from me again for about 60+ hours until I’ve grinded out acquiring over 500 cars from a fresh start and started applying liveries again :joy:

Put the car up for max auction. If no one buys it you can reclaim it and delete the livery from your catalog.
Just the easy to aquire cars, nothing you would regret selling.

The auction workaround works however there’s a safe way to do it. It’s time consuming.

Daily auction limit is 25 cars. List 25 cars you don’t want. Cheap from the autoshow or dupes from the playlist. When you get to the max you’ll get a message stating so. Then go to the cars with paints you want to delete. Here I only do easily replaceable cars to be safe. Send the car to auction. The game will tell you your at max and not auction the car but it will disconnect it from the paint file. Then go delete the paint file. It’s annoying but has always worked for me in fh4 and fh5. A beneficial side effect is your game save file is smaller and should take less to sync.

That’s a bit brilliant though :+1: In a totally out of the 7th dimension box thinking
