I’m pre_tty certain our overl_ords made a grev_ious mistake. What a waste of time, resources, and life the brilliant idea of “Marshals” controlling lobbies has become. This thread will probably not see light of _day.
During multiple races a particular Alfa Romero GTV-6 purposefully takes out poor helpless racers, that probably got the game cheep, this _driver’s gamer tag can’t b_e placed he_re, but it takes an int_elligent _person to think. Wile I write this not min_uites after _subcoming to unjustified loonacy. All I ask for is a better system than the one in place.
For all those GOOD racers. I had a fun time racing against those that race fair, clean, and respectfull; and I hope that in the near future that I can race with you again. I had some very close clean racing prior to this insident. T10 make FM7 however you want, just don’t expect many people supporting you past 3-4 year olds (relative to series). Good luck, race safe, and may your lap times be fast and clean.
Moderators. Why? Why would you let the community dwindle? FH3 clearly has the noose around the developer’s waist, clearly nothing will be done. GG T10 GG.
So you have the right to call the kettle black? You copy other’s gamer tags to wreck the original owner and the lobby. YOU have no right to preach that you ARE a wrecker, and TO that extent being SLOW does not entitle you to act lIke a child not getting what they want. The way you treat others only solidifies that, wile F4R as a whole since FM4 has not seen you as a respectable person, you have reaped what you have sown by causing this inflation of egos.
Wile others may have raced you and thought you as a clean racer, the first time I met you, ho boy. Not just the fact you wrecked them you went after everyone that tried to cleanly pass you. That’s if you managed to be infront. So I can go on and on, but this post is not just highlighting your faults but the lackluster attempt at policing using free labor. I would like to keep this post open but in only due time will some bad apple post a troll and lock it.
Yeah I agree
I’ve only been online for a short time and often wonder, what’s the point? I know the first corner I’m just gonna get rammed off the road.
I’m not the best or the fastest but i definitely want to improve and have fun racing against racers not time wasters.
I have noticed the return of many prolific wreckers. The marshall program is a complete failure. Does t10 realise how stupid they look. I honestly wonder how they are still in business. I run my own business and I have said before if any my staff had made the kind of miatakes and undervalued my customers the way t10 do I would be either out of business or looking for new staff.
Turn 10 does value their customers - the problem is: they can’t please everyone.
The largest segment of their customer base - casual gamers - likes the game just fine… evidenced by the continued direction the game has taken version-to-version.
The smaller segment of their customer base - the “really into racing” fans - have success with and enjoy their leagues. Sure, lots of additional features they’d like to have and lots of changes they’d like, but overall they have a lot of fun using Forza as a platform for simulated racing.
It’s that “in-between” group that apparently feels most “undervalued” … that group that wants to play racing, but doesn’t want to commit the time and effort to be in a simulation race league.
MS / Turn 10 / Playground Games are pushing full-steam ahead on continued development. CLEARLY they understand their target market, and are successful at marketing to it.
As part of all 3 groups you just mentioned I feel undervalued on all fronts.
As a serious racer and semi serious racer the game does not address the issuues highlighted in this post. The lack of community response from t10 coupled with the poor online experince makes me feel undervalued.
I find myself as a casual racer now and all I expect is to pick up the game and play free from interference. That is impossible online I find it worse now I have lost the network of freind’s who raced together.
Imo the only people that don’t really have any gripe with the game are those who don’t play online. The fact t10 have even tried to address these issues gives me hope they will sort it in the next installment.
So I will rephrase my previous statement.
If I had online customers and I undervalued them as t10 do I wouldn’t have an online business.
I’d describe myself as being in the “in-between” group. I wrote several posts on the league request list, started other threads detailing my reasons for not liking “ghost racing” and sent private e-mails to a staff member at Turn 10. I got NO support from either the community (that includes some people posting on this thread) nor did i get a reply from Turn 10 when I pointed out that there was this “in-between” group of semi-serious racers who would like a league curated without sim damage (say, fuel and tyre wear only) and that part of the reason for this besides the fact that I’m a paying customer is that the public hoppers are often a mess of chaos and rage made by those participating.
My enjoyment from Forza 6 has come from some great like minded fiends I met whilst racing in the hoppers and we now race in private lobbies, hotlap, tune and socialise together and I thank Turn 10 for giving me that opportunity. However it doesn’t take away from the fact that I still feel short changed and dismissed by Turn 10 playing to their target audience.
At the 6th version of this game there is no reason why we can’t even have a choice. There is no good excuse for not having custom public lobbies. Vote to kick should never need half the lobby regardless of if it’s hidden or not. Plus a penalty system could always be turned off for those casual players.
There are custom lobbies in PCars, on Xbox. In fact there are custom lobbies in Forza, all that’s missing is the ability to see them. Their absence is a design decision, not a technical one.
There are hundreds of games with workable Vote-To-Kick systems. Just because T10’s original implementation was badly-designed garbage doesn’t mean it’s an unworkable feature in principle. Once again: poor game design.
Most other racing games have penalty systems. None of them are perfect but every single one of them is 100% better than the free-for-all crash fest in Forza, Strike 3 for lousy game design.
Project cars had there own servers. This 1st party game and Xbox seems to have a policy against searchable custom lobbies for the Xbox one. I believe xbox wanted more control of how there content is used.
The vote to kick system like you describe would be abused. Of course the system now is ineffective.
I bet T10 has data of the inefficientnes of other penalty system.
Waaaait. that nickname sounds familiar! You weren’t racing in the FRC Season 1 Elite lobbies, by any chance?
Regardless, I find the constant demand for prescient moderation to be quite ridiculous. Marshalling and stricter policing of lobbies won’t eliminate wreckers; they will, at best, ensure that they won’t have fun their way for much long.
There’s nothing ridiculous in pleading for T10 to produce on what they themselves promoted. The results in the little bit of marshalling and policing we had from marshalls and Snowowl were evident from the many “purple” threads around crying for reasons for their bans. These days these purple locks are very scarce, and so is order in the lobbies.
Belive it or not the introduction of marshalls along with the relentless efforts of snowowl saw a decrease in incidents at least for myself. It made people who are known for this behaviour to think twice. But now the standards are slipping again and its not taken long for wreckers to work out horizon is taking up everyone’s time.
I don’t think anyone is persistently demanding more marshalling or stricter policing of the lobbies it would just be nice to have a solution and t10 stick to it and actually make good on there ideas. Rather than everything they do being so half cocked.
Just as a point of interest and a reminder, the marshalls are volunteers from the community, just like the mod’s here . They can’t possibly police every lobby every day all day. There just isn’t enough of them.
A good racing buddy of mine who also happens to drive for a major and well known team is one of the marshalls. We recently ran an event together, and were able to catch up a bit in the pre-race lobby. I noticed the T10 emblem and asked him about the program. First off, most in the lobby will also see the badge and often will adjust their behavior. Second, he cannot see everything that is going on around the track. He can only go by what he sees himself. If he hears from others in the lobby about misbehavior, he tries to catch up to the offenders. He has in fact submitted quite a few names to T10 for review and appropriate action was taken. You cannot expect these guys to save replays of every race they participate in either, that would be quite a burden on their time.
That said, I don’t know how active the marshalls have been of late as I don’t race in public lobbies. It’s worth noting that T10 did respond to the communities concerns and made an effort, even if it did fall short of our hopes and expectations. I think the marshall program is a great idea, just unfortunate that there’s no way it could ever be staffed sufficiently to be more effective.
