Let us stop for a moment and think about this. We are all complaining about wreckers, including me.
I have thought of something that works with children. IMHO, the wreckers are doing this for attention. I am sure there are some adult age people wrecking everyone, but my theory should work on them as well. Some people do things to get attention or recognition. I feel this is what we face with the wrecking issue. This will take discipline from everyone. Stop complaining in the lobby about the wreckers. This feeds into their need for attention. If they stop hearing or reading about the wrecking, it will show them they will no longer get attention for their behavior. It will get worse before it gets better. It will be hard not to say something in the lobby’s, but WE have to be the disciplined adults and not say something about it bringing the attention they crave.
This will take time to implement. when you are in a lobby with a wrecker, create an invite only party and invite the drivers that are not wrecking and communicate with them so your party drives cleanly.
I am not trying to tell anyone how to play their game or how to race. I am just trying to help get rid of the wreckers.
I usually stay muted unless it’s a decent lobby, and i never show my anger if i can avoid it; that and i treat everyone as if they’re going to wreck me and give them plenty of room. Even that isn’t enough sometimes, as I’ll take a trip backwards through the grass on the end of someone’s bumper from time to time
Wreckers are mostly entitled, unskilled, cry-babies who lack two distinct traits:
Skill
Patience
They all think they can just jump into a race and dominate, and when they find out the workd is a huge place filled with more talented people who have put the time in to learn a true skill, the wreckers lash out in the only way an unskilled, pie-eyed neophyte can.
I have only played online a couple times. I have yet to make more than 3 turns from the start to get bashed beyond recovery. I just stick to rivals or just play by myself. [Mod edit - WSD - Profanity and alluding to profanity is against the ToS]
So do nothing. That’s obviously not working - sure is for the developers - I’ve just come to the realization that the wreck fest apparently is good business for MS/T10 and yep clearly nothing really being done (save the report method )
The only way I find that works is not to join the lobbies and stick to private ones.
I like the ones that take a BAC to Daytona and then get mad after the pack leaves them in the dust by the time they hit the backstretch for the first time, and then proceed to act like a rolling traffic cone for the rest of the race
It’s just so disappointing that this is happening on such a large scale. Online racing should be so good but it’s just embarrassing to look at. You have a good idea but I believe it’s just now a online culture problem now. It’s getting worse every year and sadly I don’t it getting better any time soon. It’s got to the point I have better races then with the drivatars now, at least they drive in a straight line
Another idea which I have floated before and also works with children is to reward good behaviour rather than punish the bad stuff. My idea was to have cars (unicorns)which are gifted and can only be obtained by racing cleanly. Sure it’s not going to totally eliminate trolls but it my be a carrot big enough to encourage those who have nothing to race for other than seeing the amount of carnage they can cause. You don’t have to be quick , just clean.
I do wonder however if the developers actually care. For a sport(Motorsport ) to have little boundaries or consequence for cheats(including corner cutters and track extenders) is baffling.
How many people would really do that? Two, maybe? And for what?
That’s not how you will get rid of wreckers. They won’t stop.
Two real choices:
Implement a penalty system in-race slowing down the car for a significant amount of time (Gran Turismo has this system and it kinda works)
Additional penalty? After a certain number of intentional crashes, you’re automatically kicked out of the race and lobby.
Bring back the visible vote-to-kick system in the lobby
Im with you on this however i dont even think this might work for one or two reasons, (a) just to many player world wide and (b) the mighty dollar. Some “people” will just loose interest there for income will be lost. It all comes down to economics.
T10 don’t want to discourage/lose the casual gamers (wreckers included) because that’s where the large majority of FM sales come from.
MONEY MONEY MONEY
We are nothing compared to the number of casual gamers who buy Forza. That’s why there’s also Forza Horizon…to convince those very same casual gamers to buy the MOTORSPORT series as well.
The casual gamer just thinks it’s the same stuff.
Turn 10 don’t care about imposing rules. They don’t explain the rules of racing inside their game.
So we have no vote-to-kick system anymore, time/speed penalties for crashers and for those who repeatedly cut corners.
I’m kind of on both sides when it comes to the vote to kick system, yeah, it’s terrible and you can’t kick wreckers, but at the same time I’m not getting booted out of lobbies that I HAVEN’T EVEN RACED IN YET because I’m a “squeaker,” (I’m 15) I had that alot in FM4 where I would talk in a game where I haven’t played a game and I’m already getting a vote to kick. Maybe it will be better on the Xbox one? I don’t know, I just want to be able to talk in game chat without getting kicked because they either are too lazy to toggle mute, just wants to be a jerk, or think I’m going to be one of these wreckers idiots
The biggest problems is the Ram-To-win types. The out and out wreckers are done by the first, or second corner, you just have to have mad skillsat getting through the first few corners.
The Ram-To-Win typesare the bigg problem. The way I deal with them is to make sure I have me headset on, and call it out when I see it. I make sure to let everyone know who is doing it, their car, its color, and theri gamer tag. I let everyone know that they are an RTW, and they can’t win without ramming.
Sometimes they are jsut a less competent driver. So, I only call it out if I know for certain they RTW. If I suspect they are just a rough racer, or less skilled, I will still call it out, but I will do my best to try to be cordial/fair about it. Sometimes wrecks are wrecks, and neither racer could not do anything about it, so I try to be understanding.
Never ram them back. That is commandment numero Uno. never, ever, ever ram them back. That is endorsing their behavior, and encourages them to do it more.
Listen I agree with your last sentence but let me play devils advocate here.If you are a track player in the olympics and EVERYONE is doping and you have no chance to win unless you dope what would you do? Same theory applies.People get sick of losing race after race and ramming becomes contagious. Before you know it you are part of the problem and not the solution.
I’m not sure if anyone here has mentioned this and it has been a while since I’ve dwelled in the hoppers. There was a so-called team in the lobby with the questionable intentions of putting wreckers in their place. So they say but I have the feeling that some members will wreck at the same time cheating for their team mates. Why doesn’t turn ten find moderaters for the hoppers to help clean out the lobbies.
this game is soooo popular they could get volunteers to moderate OR be able t host your own lobby and be able to ban people from the server. What about private servers . hell i love running c class where everyone is a ghost no need to worry! took me about ten minute to say hell with this lets try a ghost race guess what everyone made it thru the frst turn that hit the brakes lol.
being able to have a vote kick option is a must in any online sim .
