A warning for wreckers?

I have recently been asking ‘wreckers’ whether or not they know about the CofC and that infractions will result in a ban. Responses I’ve received, coupled with their subsequent behaviour would indicate that the vast majority of these people are unaware of the process. Perhaps if turn 10 made players aware of bans for unsporting conduct, maybe a warning on the multiplayer screen, before they start wrecking, it would go some way towards dealing with this problem?

T10 belive that hiding in the back ground and dishing out bans/warning in secret is the best way. I have said before that we need a list of marshalls published along with what happens if you intentionally ram and get caught. Simply getting the message across to everyone would work much better than all the marshalls put together

Was in the Elite Bentley league hopper last night for three races.
There was a player who was deliberately waiting a full lap each race and then taking out the leaders as they came by. Even pitting his own car each time and waiting at the pit exit for the next wave of cars to come through.
Did he get voted to be kicked, no !
I messaged him and reported him ( his profile said bad reputation)
Yet he carried on wrecking.
The last race of the night I spectated and watched him, he took out the leaders as they came round every time, he even made sure his car wasn’t ghosted.

Moron !

I think I may of been in the lobby or least had a similar experince last night. There are some people that have serious issue with being beat or overtaken.

The wrecker had a blue painted bentley, think he had ace within his username !

Similar thing again happened again tonight with most the field hit by time race ended, I was torpedoed out of the lead as were two others. Replay submitted and placed into the never decreasing pile so no doubt will happen tomorrow. And the day after. And the next day etc etc etc…

Warning One: The Xbox Live Code of Conduct which EVERYONE on Xbox Live agrees to abide by when we create our accounts. “Most” people know to treat others like they wish to be treated.

There are rules similar on these forums, which also include the link to contact Turn 10 via email. How many times have you seen someone asking for that information?

Warning over and over, or bowing to the “If they’d only told me that wasn’t acceptable I would have removed it” or “I was banned without warning for no reason” is fruitless.

Agreed, but as I said, a warning about the possibility of a ban before someone starts wrecking, maybe on the multiplayer screen along the lines of the ‘warning’ that your times in rivals won’t count towards the forza championship, might go some way towards alleviating the problem. Unfortunately a lot of people, myself included, have not read the entire code of conduct before playing, this is evident by the number of “why was I banned?” posts.

It might also reduce the amount of replays that get submitted, which can’t be a bad thing

I can understand how you would have that feeling but I kind of agree with the OP. Sure, half of the players won’t give a but I think if people at least knew they could get suspended for a while for racing dirty and wrecking it could help a little. At least for the newer or very casual players. Just a message when you enter perhaps, or something similar. Dunno, seems like it could be a good idea.

And if people that get wrecked took the time to calmly explain to their assaulter that there is no need to ram someone at full speed going into a hairpin to try to take 10th place or something (without threats or profanity), at least the offending party will know that you “have their number” so to speak. I have done that a few times and sometimes get a stupid response, and sometimes surprisingly it seems the other person isn’t as much a troll as you may think, they simply aren’t very experienced in the game.

Sadly, some people don’t give a [Mod edit - WSD - profanity and alluding to profanity is against the rules] about the rules…

It is also against the rules to edit a mod edit and carries an instaban. Please read the rules before continuing to post.

[Mod edit - WSD -Dont quote profanity]
[Mod edit - WSD- DO NOT edit a post which has previously been edited by a mod as it will lead to a perm ban]

Sorry for my implied profanity. It really irritates me when people blatantly ignore the rules.

Please see the new edit,it annoys me too when people dont follow the rules

Not to worry, I’ve reread the rules and saw where it said not to remove mod edits. Sorry I annoyed you WSD, it won’t happen again.

I just quit posting before I get in trouble. Learn as you go I guess.

Yup. Sorry I got you a warning for quoting implied profanity ezrae.

It’s okay. I had no idea. I just spent 15 min researching and saw nothing about it. Well now I know. It’s kinda like posting in a ban thread for the first time. Can’t find anything on it, so you learn as you go.

and you think posting something else they wont read will help ?

I didn’t make the OP for the wreckers to read, i was hoping (still am) that someone from turn 10 would read it and give it consideration.I made the post based on the fact that a lot of wreckers I’ve spoken to have no idea about the banning system. I thought that a warning in a prominent position prior to entering multiplayer might help everyone. This is obviously not a panacea for all poor behaviour but, as has been mentioned by others,if it deters even a few it must be worth considering.

I don’t know how much ‘reprogramming of the game’ would be required to add a line of text to a page, I assumed not much, especially weighed up against the consternation caused by wreckers.

I agree that deliberate wreckers are less of a problem than poor drivers and I can tell the difference between the two. There was a definite reduction in numbers which seemed to coincide with the concerted efforts of Snowowl and his reporting of bad behaviour. Lately, I personally have seen an increase in wrecking, hence my OP.

On a small scale, I have noticed that informing players of consequences to their actions has a marked effect on their subsequent behaviour. Perhaps increasing the amount of informed people might have a positive effect on the lobbies?

I dont mean they will ignore this thread, I mean they will ignore the ingame warning in the same way they ignore the warning regarding expected behavior when they sign up for xbox.

This is an old article and im not even sure that the cost still applies to current games and the way xbox is set up Wait, it Costs $40,000 to PATCH a Console Game? however it may help enlighten some as to hidden costs people dont even consider and watching this series of videos https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z6md9QO4DTs may help people understand that a “simple” change can soon easily become a total nightmare.

The xbox reporting tool continues to be the primary tool for reporting bad behavior, however bad behavior does not equal bad racing etiquette and the primary tool for addressing bad racing etiquette is the gamer, that could include telling them where they are going wrong, warning them they can get in trouble or directing them to a thread on the forum where they can read up on where they are failing. If you have other suggestions which could help, that you want the developer to see, then the best place to post them is the wishlist
