No one asked for rtgi, its just the direction they wanted to go. Im not against progress when it comes to graphics, i just dont think an addition like this is going to benefit many people nevermind the game as a whole.

Wow! Those reflections while sitting still really hide the low quality car models well.

Right, perhaps that was the initial strategy…

IMHO, it’s like taking your car to the dealer because it has low oil pressure and a knocking noise- and them painting it instead.
It’s a nice gesture and will improve the looks, but doesn’t fix the core issues that brought you there to begin with.

This thread is essentially people asking for it, but sure… What ever you say.

It remains to be seen if RTGI is the secret sauce to close that gap. Hopefully it is but before that, Turn 10 is finally delivering on a promised feature. If nothing else they can have the graphics team move on to fixing other problems, or bringing RTGI to the Series X…

If you don’t care and don’t want to turn it on. Then dont. Thats on you.

This wasnt a requested feature, this was something that was always coming to the game, it just took a very long time to be added. Before launch digital foundry sat down with turn 10 to talk about the game. Rtgi was part of that discussion.

You seem quite offended by people not caring about this update. Theres no need to defend turn 10s decisions, they are what they are. This being a forum is where people can discuss these decisions.

I for one think its a waste of time as it benefits a small amount of people. I dont think its ok that certain graphical issues still exist and as you say maybe theyll fix them after they release this.

It not people who dont care for the update that bothers me. Its saying things like ā€œno one wanted thisā€ that stroked my fur from aft to stern. If you personalized it by saying you didn’t want it… Thats fine. Thats your opinion… But you said the general ā€œno one wanted itā€. Sorry but you don’t speak for me.

I agree with @Wilko_Jones with respect to highlighting the good work that they are now doing. They are adding features, slowly, that should have been (and were advertised) at launch.

None the less - every single senior executive listed in the credits has been utterly silent despite selling us a product that was shameful.

Not one of those people has a strong enough backbone to come and talk with the people who’s money they now have about the terrible quality of the product and misleading statements made prior to release.

Not one of those people was willing to put their foot down on behalf of the consumers (read: their customers and fans) and delay the launch to release a polished product.

Not one of those people stood up to the marketing team and insisted that the footage, images and features be described accurately in a way that reflects the product they built.

So - Specifically when it comes to choosing where to spend my money, I’ll personally be avoiding any of this leadership teams future products.

Seems like they sold a demo for an early access beta at full retail price & called it a ā€œtriple-A game.ā€

ā€œā€¦Our approach right now is not to make a games-as-a-service," stresses Greenawalt.
"This is a massive game, and it’s launching for a $70 price, and there is a premium add-on.
This is a massive AAA launch, so it’s not actually becoming a, ā€˜Hey, launch small and build over time.’
It’s not a service game.
This is a AAA game…

Yeah. The only thing Triple A about this game at launch was its price tag.

I said no one asked for rtgi, meaning turn 10 chose to do it on their own, it wasnt a requested feature. After people heard it was coming to the game, in that digital foundry video, theyve been asking when it would be released and now it is.

I personally wanted a lot of things in this game, im sure everyone has their own list. My opinion about rtgi is more circumstantial, this game has had and still has a lot of issues. I think adding something like rtgi, which once again doesnt benefit most people, doesnt fix any issues that already exist and seem likely to continue to exist.

I think at this stage, for a game thats supposed to be a ā€œlife titleā€, it should be all hands on deck fixing existing problems before adding something that will likely cause more.

Fact is their time was up, the game had to be released. At a certain point development funding runs out and you need to start generating some more. Too optimize sales the game needs to be marketed, microsoft didnt make the trailers or write the script for interviews, turn 10 did.

This wasnt some evil overlord situation, turn 10 is a first party studio and was given first party treatment, unfortunately the game has issues. Do you think this game would still be putting out monthly updates if it wasnt?

Its unfortunate how things panned out for both players as well as for turn 10. I doubt they wanted things to be this way, theyve never released a game like this before. We’ll likely never know the reasons why, but going by this past year things dont move very quickly.

Aside from teething issues. RTGI can run on my PC. The positive difference I see is, the cockpit view is brighter.

The negatives? The performance hit is apparent. RTAO I can get a playable FPS with medium settings. With RTGI on, I get local speed limit like numbers. 55, 45, 35. This only highlights that My ghetto rig has no business running anything raytracing related.

Its a nice to have. And switching between RTGI on and off doesn’t require a restart. If they only could allow me to say where I want it on and off. I’m fine with it being off on track. But its nice to have on in the homespace.

But before that, I am having some pausing happening when when doing anything since the update…

Sigh.

What GPU are you using?

3080… It’s not my GPU. Its what I am asking it to do. I’m running triple screens. Basically I am asking it to run 4K 60.

So I am using a 7900XTX and 7800X3D

I play at 3440 x 1440p.

Maxed out I am getting 45fps with other cars on screen and max 60fps when time trialling…

AMD upscaling allows me to get 60fps+ very consistently but it’s looks awful.

With RT off, I can run at 200% scale and keep a very consusten 82fps (half screen rate 165hz). This looks better for the most part
