Until I’ve driven an actual racecar on an actual track I really couldn’t say which game is hardest of cores as a sim driver as I would need to compare that experience with what the game is trying to accomplish. While Project CARS is the self proclaimed winner in this category, I think it’s Forza that has an edge game-wise, after all this is still a game. Forza focuses more on what the tires are doing in conjunction with the car’s suspension and the type of surface they are driven on. It is this focus that set’s Forza apart from the competition regardless of the self proclamations about being the best hardcore sim by other game makers. I’d give this game a 9 /10 for sure if only for the thrill factor that only this game seems to deliver.
Having driven a couple actual cars, I stick by my first post. Also, forza can’t take tire physics that seriously if you can leave any car on any tire at 30psi front and rear and have the temps be close to ideal. Camber settings don’t match real life (at least not for radials, and I really hope T10 isn’t suggesting they’ve included bias plies) and things like spring rates are debatable at best. Also the sounds for a number of older cars like the Lotus Cortina and Lotus 11 aren’t even close to what I hear at work. The game is fun enough, but perhaps I’m asking too much.
You pay 60 dollars for this game…keep that in mind. Some here can’t taken seriously. The game have issues but turn 10 done a lot things right. Some of you should play iracing. Are you really believe it’s possible to make the sound of every car 100% for that money you pay? Or that every car will get its own game engine? It’s impossible for 60 or even 100 dollars you pay. The funny thing is im sure some here didn’t own a wheel and say forza is arcade or uses abs, tcs, stm and raceline…loooool
Perhaps direct your comments to the creative director of T10 who made the comment of a really really hardcore sim before you attack those you have answered a question posed by myself.
After taking in mind my initial question and the comments simply responding to my question ,hopefully you are able shed some light and context onto the responses you seek to belittle.
All what i want say is that some people have extremly unrealistic high expectations to this game for the money what they pay. The truth is that 80% run this game with tcs, abs etc. and even with that they fail day by day in multiplayer. Whe are no little kida and now that every game promise thing there are no true. First to sell the game and second to give the customer a special feeling.
That’s part of the business and should not taken to serious in my eyes.
I can count 100 cars that not sound 100% like the real counterparts. But even when the mixing is bader than in fm5 it was the best sound on console by far.
Compare fm with iracing, raceroom experience or arsetto corsa it’s unfair because the targetgroup are much to small to sell consoles.so sad it is but a lot of the creative guys by turn 10 are bad players. So maybe they really believe what they say. But in general it’s marketing nothing more and nothing less.
I don’t want hurt somebody here and if i did I’m sorry. But i stand to everthing i wrote.
Bored at work…
PTG guys speaks the truth
Forza way closer to game than sim, and getting closer by the day
Was on FM4 every Day, LOVED IT, Bought xbox1 just for FM5, nothing much nice to say about 5,
Pcars, made me want a wheel.
Pcars made me want a game that was not buggy, and had more in MP lobbies.
FM6, just FM5 with new DLC, Wheel was C R A P on this game, C R A P C RAP C RAP!
Back to Pcars.
Got Wise, got a PC, now Race on Iracing daily
Forza could of had me for life if they improved fm4 but no, fm5/6 id trending the wrong way. Get out now!
I miss my FM buddies, and wish they would see the light. So much more fun is out there for us online racing nerds.
It’s a 3 at best. Play iRacing or Project Cars. Forza doesn’t even come close. This game has been tailored to all audiences; therefore, it cannot be considered a simulation. I honestly think that the Horizon franchise has ruined the core game. This does not mean that Forza is a bad game.
In terms of the actual cars and tracks I’d say T10 have done an impressive job. Take one of your preferred cars round a track your familiar with and I’d defy anyone to say they haven’t simulated the experience extremely well. In this regard I’d give an easy 8.
When it comes to simulating an actual race series, event or weekend then FM has never done this so in this you could only give a 1.
It all boils down to what you’re looking for. If you want a simulation of a specific race series or championship look elsewhere.
If you’re happy to compete in sprint races with diverse starting lineups or set up your own race then FM is as good as anything else I’ve played.
^ if its so good how is it that all rwd cars drove the same. And tuning by slider location works so well. Cars are much more complex than forza would leave anyone to believe. The tuning menu should not be yhe same for every car, cars like yhe formula one or formula e actually have 6 suspensions to work on not just front and rear. Everything, physics and driving included is over simplified for forza aka arcade.
Imo even the scale of the tracks proportionate to the cars are completely different. Only game ive ever played where goiing 2 wide in a straight is a bad idea nevermind in a vorner.
Am I unable to pose a question?
Perhaps it matters to me.
I would dearly like Forza to be more sim like and it was frustrating to say the least to hear comments from within T10 describing it as such.
Read the comments and you shall see it matters to many.
I’ve been thinking about this some more. The 1 to 10 scale is always subjective. I’ve decided to list a few games I have played enough that I feel comfortable making comparisons. Let me start by saying 1 is pure arcade and 10 feels like you’re driving the real car.
The Crew - 1. This is clearly an arcade game. It’s fun for what it is.
Need for Speed any version - 1. Again, this is an arcade game.
Forza Horizon 1 or 2 - 2. This is mainly an arcade game but there are some elements of realism that rise it above the pure arcade games that The Crew and Need for Speed are.
Forza Motorsport (no number) - 3. Given the console it was running on (Xbox original) I can’t rate it higher than that. It is a good game though.
Forza Motorsport 2 - 4. Definite improvement on the original plus it was on the Xbox 360 which helps.
Gran Turismo 6 - 4. Physics seem a little better than FM2 but it has arcade things like the moon rover.
Forza Motorsport 3,4,5 and 6 - 5. I am being a little generous including FM 3,4 and 5 here. Maybe I should give them 4.5. FM6 does seem to have better physics than 3,4 and 5.
Project Cars - 5.5. The feel of the cars is slightly better than FM6. It may be the way the wheel feels. It just feels a little more realistic. However, I enjoy FM6 a little more.
iRacing - 7. The cars feel right. If you make a mistake, you pay for it.
Driving a Lamborghini Gallardo - 10. I got to drive one of these for 5 laps on a course at a close military base. The games don’t compare. They may look good but wait until you get thrown around a little by the car. It’s hard to describe the feeling.
I was in Germany and going to the BMW museum and my coworkers who have been there were talking about this “awesome driving simulator” there. From afar I saw it and it looked pretty real and as I got closer I told them that I play that game every day. It does look probably the best out of all the “sim” games. I’ve seen people post on FB videos from Forza cause people thought it was real.
I wouldn’t give project cars a higher rating than Forza.
If you guys asking for more then play iracing or arsetto corsa. It’s impossible to get 600 simulated cars for 120 bucks. The cost fro video game production growing 1000% in the last 30 years but the price of 60 dollars still the same. Then fm is a game for the masses and not for 10% sim players. If whe pay 1000 dollars for a game I’m sure ms will make it. But it will never happen.
The game have it’s issues and simplifies a lot of things. Turn 10 have open a lot players their eyes that gt4 was not the real driving sim and i wish too that they go further. But at some point whe must look for other games. I think turn have to reach some goals, like playability with controller and that can’t do a sim.
If you really want to enjoy arsetto corsa a wheel is a must. With controller you will always fight against overheating tires. That is one of the reasons that tyre temp plays no key role in forza. Turn 10 only must change values and tyres will be mutch more challenging. But if they do this next day whe have here a 20 page thread that tyres always to hot.
Take the game as it is and don’t take to serious what t10 says. It’s part of the buisness. Creative director say much if the day is long. If a physic guy would say something i would be really worry. I’m sure that not less in the turn 10 team would love to make more. But i guess the title have 150+ million budget (i guess more) and there is no room for hyper sims.
I don’t want attacking someone here. But I’m really upset, when i read that people always want more but didn’t won’t pay for that. People who work on videogames have a life, family and must pay bills and eat. Some expections are simple far away what you can do when you have to do a game with 600 cars.
To clarify once again, this is not a wish list for more sim features. Comments were made from within turn10 of a hardcore simulation. This topic is for the community to express their perception and experiences of the game. Needless to say the majority have a different view than that of Dan Greenawalt, and that’s where the frustration lays. You mention what the game costs, multiply that by units sold and perhaps your perception of value may alter.
Hope you comprehend what is being discussed.
If i do that i think they have made max. 50 mio and thats very very optimistic. The costs goes in the hundreds!!! A game like fable legends have cost 60 millions or so and it never comes over the beta state. I really think some people think here that turn 10 makes money with fm6. I have my doubts. the game goes at Christmas in the sale and maybe 600000 have buying the game to a full price. If i count that all together than i come not over 50 or maybe 60 millions. So i think microsoft have made a minimum minus of 100 millions with fm6. Only a guess but I’m not surprised if it’s higher. I don’t know what sponsors pay but I’m sure no 100 million dollars. And i think ms have to pay for a lot of license. So the cost for fm6 will go easy over 150 millions. Like i wrote before a game like fable legends had cost 60 millions +. I wrote only that you see that production of such a game is extreme expensive.
The only business that will stay in business with 40 million in losses are governments.
A video game developer wouldn’t be developing games if consistently running at a massive loss. In addition DLC, game patches, game updates, league updates and revisions, and two new games (apex and horizon 3) wouldn’t occur if the game wasn’t making money.
We can conclude therefore via business common sense that what he have here is a village idiot.
