This is the same site that brought up an article that mentioned that Microsoft would buy Kunos, which turned out to be false. I’m not going to trust this source.
I really have no idea what he was trying to say. Im not even going to say anything about motorsport being a “hardcore simulation”(honestly not even close), but for arguments sake lets say it was. So they have a hardcore sim and a mature arcade game. The sim has race tracks real world and fictional, it includes road cars as well as race cars. The arcade game also includes road cars and race cars, with an open world which includes on and off road racing. Both games pretty much share upgrades, tuning and painting options.
I really dont see what other type of forza could be made without taking something out of the other two games. If motorsport is hardcore, you cant go above it, and if horizon is arcade, you cant really go below that either. They’d either have to make a strict racing car game, which would degrade the original motorsport, or they could make a dedicated rally game which would degrade horizon. I also dont think it would be wise to take up rally when its a very niche type of racing and codemasters pretty much has that covered.
The only other genre would be what project gotham was, but i kind of think the forza series has become that way anyway. I think motorsport is a tunable project gotham on more real world tracks and horizons driving with style is nothing more than pgr’s kudos points.
A pc only game seems unlikely now that microsoft has initiated the whole play anywhere thing. I dont even want to think about a mobile version, but it could be possible especially with Apex’s weird scoring method. The only thing left that i could think of would be a motorcycle game. Ride was basically a poor attempt at making a forza with bikes. With turn 10s tire data, laser scanned tracks, relationships with manufacturer’s and of course a fat wallet, i think they could pull it off but he did say car culture so bikes are out.
I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what they have in store for us, or just take it as what i think it was which was marketing the forza brand. There was probably nothing behind it, just a little chest puffing towards the emerging competition from Pcars, Assetto Corsa and of course Gt Sport who is certainly gunning for their top spot back as well as trying to be the go to esport racing game.

I reckon he’s just mumbling the same vague “family of devices” mantra that all Xbox execs are required to chant in public at least once per day as a way of making Xbox sound vaguely relevant to Microsoft’s central strategy.

The article mentions Turn 10 going to a three year dev cycle. Was that stated somewhere? I hadn’t ever seen that before and find it interesting the FM7 may be two years out still rather than coming next year. If that is the case will we see more support than we would normally expect for FM6? Or does the 3 year cycle mean we will se a third kind of Forza game released next year with FM7 in two years? Could FM6 be the last released for the One?
FM6 won’t be the last on the xbox one. FM7 may be geared towards project Scorpio but in the xbox briefing it was noted that games will be playable on original xbox one, xbox one S and the project Scorpio xbox.

Well when I tried to go to it, it said it was a security threat. I take that as being FAKE.
No chance for turn 10 to make a pc only sim. First they should learn some basics like breaking in real simulation or shifting or how much grip real race slicks have.
I hope for forza rallisport. One first sight there a enough rallygames on x1 but only dirt rally is a real great one. Nascar, indycar or weathertech uscc seems possible.
Project gotham…hmmh… could be too but I think in times of the crew and fh open world is a must imo.
