So on PC Game Pass there’s the EA Background app starting and runnig with the Game Pass app.
I’ve found out that it works for me and FH 5 is launching normally when i kill the 2 EA tasks in the the task manager before launching FH 5.
Otherwise FH 5 dont’t start since the last update. The launch window appers and after some loading it just vanquishes and theres also no FH 5 task in the task manger running and there’s also no disk activity anymore because it stopped loading. I know that I’m not the only one with this problem.
But just try to end the EA tasks and hopefully FH 5 should work for you again.
I thougt I’ll post that, because this workaround could help some of you who also have problems launching FH 5.
I have an EA app to play NFS installed,but I dissabled it on start up when I installed it a month or so ago, it does not appear in the task manager list. I just deleted the app after reading your post to see if it made a difference, but the game still refuses to start properly. It only took me two attemps this time to start fh5, last evening it took ten attemps to get the game to start.It is becoming a pain in the backside.
I am running the downloaded, bought game, but not through gamepass.Ever since the last update the game is really difficult to start. It just keeps failing, then closing.
Is the game slow to start for anyone else, when it does work?
For me it is taking over two minutes to load the game fully (on nvme SSD). First the launch window comes up for 15 seconds, then that disappears and the small Forza Horizon 5 splash screen appears in the centre of the screen for another 30 seconds or so. This step only used to take a few seconds so I don’t know what it’s doing nowadays.
I have the game on the Microsoft store, but don’t have game pass or the EA app running.
My game also starts very slow like yours, it takes way longer than it used to.After the initial picture with the red car vanishes, I get a small version of the same picture in the middle of my monitor. It is very hit and miss if the game starts at all after that.Before the last update came out the game ran without any problems.
I wonder why my game starts only sometimes, the majority of attemps to load it seem to fail ? The game never starts normally now, it takes much longer from the first screen to the turn 10 logo.
Max are the devs looking into this problem with starting FH5 for pc players ? It is really hard to get the game to start, today took 6 attemps to get it to run. My system is up to date and it runs the game on the highest settings too, until the last update that is.FH3 and 4 still start normally for me.
Nah, they rather refer to possible third party software issue (which there are none at least in my case as I’m not running anything that didn’t ran before the update and I doubt that’s different for others) and make taking action dependend on how many votes are casted regarding to this issue (while the forum is full of complaints about the problem).
That’s simply cheap, lazy and shows how much they actually care. It also makes them come off as unbelievably incompetent.
They better change their whole approach on things like this fast or the brown stuff will hit the fan sooner then later.

The problem is FH5. The bug is in the new update.
I bet Max wouldn’t even be able to look somebody confronting him with such issues straight into the eyes in real life because he knows they’re absolutely right.
He tries or better pretends to be the fire department while he actually must know that his fire truck comes without water and hoses.

Sorry, but in my opinion the Forza Support is a joke. I’ve still got my problem that I can’t fix the framerate to 60 FPS on a 60 Hz screen. I’ve opened a ticket and the “agent” didn’t really know what to do and gave me noob-tips (since years I’m a PC enthusiast and professional). He knew nothing and then he just closed my ticket as “solved” - but there’s nothing solved.

I’ve found out that also “Microsoft Anti Malware Service Exectuable” could prevent FH 5 from starting, too. Because when launching FH 5 and checking Task Manager (EA app were stopped already), there was high activity in there with the AV software (NVME-/disk-usage, GPU usage and CPU usage) and FH 5 stopped again. After closing Anti Malware testwise for starting FH 5 the game started. So when it launched of course I’ve started AV again.
But: this are all FH 5-problems and not problems of the EA- oder AV-app. This gotta be fixed. And also that the opportunity is missing to fix to 60 fps on a 60 Hz display! It’s neither a problem of the system nor of the user when the system is running perfectly and has newest drivers and updates.
I may have found a solution for the game not starting, I tried it 4 times and it worked 4 times.But maybe this only works for me ?
During game start up, after the picture shrinks to a smaller size, I noticed that if I right click on the game icon, it says start fh5, I found that strange, normally it just says close window. Maybe the computer is not racognizing the game is starting up ?? So I clicked on start game a second time while the game was still starting up, nothing changed the same picture with the car was still on my screen, but the game started all 4 times that I tried it.
It works! I’ve tested it 5 times and all of them worked! At last! I right-click on the game tab down below and I click on Forza Horizon 5 while the small logo with the car is still on. Before that I had to try 8-10 times in order to open the game. What a disgrace these people are…
Glad the work around worked for you, I found it by pure chance after trying a hunch out.The thread about this game not starting in the troubleshooting hub, is 4,000,000 votes short for pgg to fix this problem for pc players.
Maybe the pgg terms of use “agreement”, should mention that players are expected to find their own solutions for game failiures ?
