Need Wheel Advice

I recently picked up the Logitech Driving Force G920 Wheel, Pedals, and Shifter. After tweaking the settings for a few days, I finally have it setup where I can get around a track.

My problem is that it appears in almost every vehicle I use, the back end just randomly breaks loose and starts to fish-tail. Someone taps me in the rear (tap, not slam) and the rear breaks loose. I up-shift coming out of a turn, and the rear breaks loose. In some cars I’m driving down a straight, I up-shift, and the rear breaks loose.

Once the rear looses it, the steering wheel appears to have a mind of it’s own and just starts turning randomly (Forced Feed Back?). I’ve tried to fight it, but I usually end up in a wall or, at best, facing the opposite direction.

I was at the Mount Panorama Circuit (I hate that track), and low and behold, I made it to the lead position on lap 4. I come to the corkscrew section (chicane?), I down-shift, and the rear looses it; I hit a wall, everyone else hits me… Once the dust had settled, obviously, I came in last place.

My Assists are: ABS = OFF, TCS = ON, SMS = OFF, Steering = SIMULATED, Shifting = MANUAL (no clutch, I use the paddles).
Controller Settings: Everything is 0-100 except Brakes (I’ve set the upper limit much lower, but they work great). And Vibration & Force Feedback are at about 30% (upper limit).

Any suggestions?

Put your steering on normal mate I had the same problem for 3 months simulation=spin haha

Thank you, I will give that a try. Seems I have tried that before and the steering appeared… sluggish. But maybe I didn’t give it enough time to get the real feel.

I suggest you to keep playing in simulation and learn how to countersteer this way, using steering wheel with simulation mode is worthed the practice.

put the wheel away and use a pad how forza was designed to play. go pick up dirt or pcars if you want to use the wheel.

This.
I also have the G920. It’s useless with Forza 6.

Completely disagree with both of you I love playing forza online or offline it’s always been my favourite racing game.
And I’m glad to hear that made a difference mate I’m not exactly sure why they made simulation steering so violent haha it’s nothing like a real car.
And I can easily use simulation steering with a controller but 90% of the time I’ll use normal with the wheel.

Have u played anything else using the wheel?

@Logic Moot,

Thank You! That did the trick! It was amazing the difference it made. I used to use SIMAULATION (with controller) in Horizon 2 and it worked great, but it appears it is way too sensitive in FM6 and FH3.

I might try the SIMULATION again (maybe with FM7) but right now, it’s working too good to change it.

The infamous theory where if u played a simcade now you can’t play fm6 with a Wheel…lol. Got into pinnacle with Wheel after i played pcars and ac on my pc for years.

No one said you cant do it. Ita more like why would you do it? If you cant admit that the feeling is conpletely wrong and unintuitive you are either delusional or have never driven anyrhing in real life.

Also getting to pinnacle with a wheel does not mean the wheel feel is good. Honestly with the amount of akilled players left playint making it to pinnacle isnt even an achievement. 2 former teamates could run top 10 times on a wheel 1 of those wheels was no ffb. Anything can be done with tons of practice but it is not the same as saying ffb is good.

Not once did I say it felt anything like real life and to be perfectly honest I’ve had my license for 6 years and driven a variety of cars if I was looking for a real experience I would drive my car but I’m not I’m looking for something I can have fun with my mates on any day of the week why don’t you jump on the corsa or pcars forums if forza is such a sub par game??

Driving your car and racing your car are completely different so thats not saying the same thing. If I wanted the real thing I would take my car to a race track, but i cant afford to do this often therefor i sim race and in such id like the most realistic feeling from my wheel possible, because thats what we are trying to do, simulate racing, correct? Not just driving at lowly speeds and stopping often in traffic.

I use Wheel because i know how to drive with Wheel. Ffb is wrong and all but if you know hoe to use a Wheel you can get info pinnacle. When i started playing sim racing there wasn’t even ffb in my old wheels so… The point is it’s easiest and faster to play with controller and Using Chase cam so why bothering learn to play with Wheel? I use Wheel and cockpit cam and trust me is so much harder to play but i have more fun even if ffb is wrong.
Edit: Got my license in 1994 and i drove a lot of cars.
A tip for the OP: Don’t know if someone already told but if you set DOR with lower degrees t’han 540 it’s easiest to recover car after a spin, i personally use 360.

And actually I own both pcars and assetto corsa and honestly don’t like them that much but I’m not about to go onto their forums and tell anyone having a minor problem with the game that the game isn’t worth owning and to go buy forza because each to their own.

I’m laughing at “minor problem”. Forza 6 is well known for being designed to be played with the Xbox One controller and for having bad wheel support (This is a fact. In your posts you keep talking only about your opinion). Many people are upset.

You have the right not to like PCars and AC but there’s no denying they have way better wheel support.

And please stop triple posting. There’s an edit button for a reason.

And I’m laughing at the fact that your still on the forza forums if you prefer project cars. The FFB is a “minor problem” I race almost every night with several people who use wheels and controllers so forza is great because those of us who don’t have a wheel can still have a blast. The game itself is great and I mean if you want to get into the better argument then everyone that’s got a wheel that isn’t worth $4000 may aswell just not use that wheel because the feeling is sub par compared to the one they have and the people with the $4000 dollar wheels may aswell not use them until they spend $20,000 on a motion simulator because the feeling is sub par to that, the people who own assetto corsa on Xbox may aswell stop playing that to because the PC version is way better

I stopped reading after the first sentence. Who ever said I prefer PCars? PCars and AC are amazing with the wheel. Forza 6 is amazing with the controller because, again, it was designed to be played with it. I have fun with friends online. Very close races. You have a problem with that?
But try it with the G920 and it’s atrocious, and that’s a pity.
