so, let me preface this by saying that I’m still very stoked for Forza7… However, when I was watching this gameplay footage from AR12, I was immediately struck by the low res trees:

I mean, the rest of the track looks phenomenal, the detailed infield etc. But that just tends to make the Original Xbox caliber tree graphics look all the more jarring and out of place. Yes, I totally understand that this is really not a huge deal, but I was more just surprised that they’ve gone to the trouble of adding animated windmills in the distance and more detailed long distance textures etc., yet there’s one main graphic element that looks 8 years old.
I dunno, just struck me as odd.
Do you think the other older Forza tracks that have been updated for Forza7 will have similar cut-and-paste graphic elements?
On another note, those Speedline F1 wheels are Excellent.
Well… I mean… do we even know what system he’s running on? If it’s the Xbox 1 then it’s amazing they can even get the game to run at 60fps. If it’s the Xbox 1X, then there’s clearly going to have to be concessions to get 60fps with 4k on that hardware. And if it’s PC, well who knows what he’s running?
is not need for speed , is MotorSport , so the actual customization is good for the type of game … are the same of horizon? i dont know, never liked horizon couse is too needforspeed type of game
Options for bodywork is always good. Doesn’t matter if it’s Need For Speed or the latest bang-on accurate simulator, personalising cars is a good thing.
Not only that, but widebody kits (no matter how bad those godawful Liberty Walk or Rocket Bunny kits are) can have a benefit to handling, allowing you to have a wider track and wider tires.
i totally agree but moaning for not having more body kits or wing ( in most of the case are just esthetics things ) is more like " i want need for speed " …
Exactly. I’m usually not too bothered by tuning/upgrades, but I have wanted the option to do a full “works” conversion a la Shift Unleashed for quite some time, now. Not to mention that with a car list that adds so little in the way of “new”, it would have been nice to see more added content elsewhere. Alas…
That is my biggest complain about Forza Motorsport at the moment, the quality of foliage is a huge thing regarding immersion in a game. Since they ramped up the in race car limit to 24 in FM6 there was a hit on how the world looks. For example in FM5, Prague and Le Mans had very detailed trees and when you go to the FM6 versions of the tracks you can notice a step down in detail. They used to be 2D trees, but each tree consisted of several images and shaders making them look very three dimentional. This was the case even in the Xbox 360 Forzas. But since FM6 each tree is just one image with little to no shading making them look paper thin and poor. Unfortunately the artists are stuck with having to design for the original Xbox One. which is a very outdated hardware, to run at locked 60 fps in 1080p and 24 cars on track, and the game has to look almost exactly in their upgraded platforms (Xbox One X/PC). A solution IMO could be if they checkerboarded 1080p on the old Xbox One to a lower res to gain room for better world detail, it wouldn’t look that different from native 1080p.
I’ll speculate a bit here: The game that they allowed people to record wasn’t the final built.
Earlier, there was a “leaked” screenshot from a Forza 7 video uploaded by Super GT, that showed an Audi RS6 Avant with one of the new widebody kits. The video was taken down shortly thereafter.
Thing was, the wheel fitment was still the same as on the stock Audi RS6, which smells like it wasn’t completely finished at this point. Not gonna post the link to the screenshot here, but you might wanna scroll through the latest posts on the Forza reddit.
Just a little theory, I could be completely wrong.
If theres one thing I do while playing racing games is ignore the track in front of me and look at the trees. There is no point in looking at where you are going when there;s trees to stare at.
You obviously thought this was a clever comment, but it isn’t really is it. By that logic we might as well keep playing Forza Motorsport 2 if graphics don’t matter. Much has been made of this game’s graphics so when one area glaring falls short of what even older iterations managed, it is noteworthy.
It seems that it’s the same situation as Forza 5 which had better trees and more detailed environments and cars than Forza 6, which cut corners to maintain 60fps on what is a relatively weak CPU in the Xbox One.
As for Xbox One X’s much vaunted 4K60, any game on any hardware can be 4K60 if you reduce the graphics enough. But at what cost.
I was obviously serious. I don’t take notice of silly things like what the trees look like. I look at the track ahead and take little notice of what the crowd or trees look like. I do like nice graphics but if all your going to do is look at your surroundings instead of whats in front of you then you will find something to cry about with graphics. If I want to see nice trees I will play GTA V or some other game with nice trees. If I want to race I will race and not nit pick over silly things like the trees
That’s funny, I don’t recall saying that I was ignoring the track or that the anything else looked bad… I do recall saying it was just something I noticed and that I didn’t think it was really a big deal though -
Just a very minor criticism, but I suppose you should never miss an opportunity to stick up for Turn10, right? These highly successful game studios need their feelings protected at all costs!
