Maple Valley Raceway graphics

I’m not sticking up for anybody. I’m stating the fact that I don’t care what the trees look like. I said the same for Gran Turismo when people were crying about the trees there too.

I don’t know about maple valley since it wasn’t in the demo however Mugello was and it definitely looks much better than in the 360.

Going by the new videos I am a bit disappointed by the Maple Valley design myself.
But most vids are of rather poor quality with lots of compression and artifacts, I failed to find a really good one for Maple Valley.
So I wouldn`t judge the fine details there, surface detail on the roads and trackside detail look a lot better on the demo imo.

bythway on xbox is much better maple valley

They’re still all 2D textures that face towards you to make them look 3D.

Really distracting if you’re focusing on them, still pretty noticeable when you’re focusing on the track. Wouldn’t be so bad if they were at least higher resolution textures, but right now they look like they’ve never left the 360 era.

I’m a paying customer and I don’t care

Seriously if all you care about is the trees then you aren’t racing hard enough. No the trees don’t stand out like a sore thumb unless you are looking at them too much. The low quality foliage doesn’t significantly detracts from that experience for me because I am watching the vehicles in front of me or the track ahead. I don’t see the trees or foliage in detail or how they may be 2D because I am watching where I am going and making sure I turn the next corner without going off.

Pretty much this.

Everyone knows that what T10 are achieving on this hardware is pretty exceptional. Obviousness there’s going to be concessions.

I kinda care about these details, even if they do not directly effect the outcome of the game.
I don’t doubt that these may be technical issues with the console- if these trees are indeed indicative of the release game, which I guess we do not know, but yeah, I do want to see improvements in this area. The look of things, in general, matter to me, I’m a visual person, so visuals matter. Don’t even get me started on some of the software that I use that is just bad to look at even if it functions the exact same. That’s just to answer your question of “who cares” if you were confused about that.

We are heavily invested financially and personally (time, effort) into these games and I want to see that reflected in the product on as many levels as possible.

  • I remember when Altered Best first came out and that was a time where I thought we were breaking ground with graphic fidelity, and now in 2017, we are still looking at paper mache trees. At some point, it is worth discussing.

in a " sim style game " i prefer they worked on phsycs , to be near as possibile to reality with the car and the tracks , i dont care very much of the " ambient environment " , if someone is focused only on that can play forza horizon…

The environment is an integral part of the “simulation” experience. It’s why companies pay for laser scanning.

The low quality foliage significantly detracts from that experience, in part because the rest of the game looks so realistic. The 2D trees stand out like a sore thumb.

tell me more how you can laser scan a fantasy track!!

Trees exist outside of Maple Valley.

Don’t care about the trees, what I can say (after just watching a FailRace video of the circuit) is that the track appears completely different.

The most obvious thing to me is the Pit Lane (now on the inside and pit out is halfway through the long first left hander). No longer can we hook the last kink up perfectly and blast into the pit lane at full throttle. Although I did have some catastrophic crashes with the main straight/pit lane divide there.

Its also much brighter and without the orange tinge that I always associated with the track. Certainly be interesting to get a run out at the track.

i work as designer and 3d modeller so i know about software , but the fact as was i said : in this kind of game i am more worried about other things than " trees on the background " … i prefer having 2d trees that dont waste power to calculation to the rest of the REAL game… if i want that kind of environment i go to need for speed that spend very less on pshyics of the driving simulation and can use the rest of the power on fancy trees moving by wind

I don’t care, if you play games for graphics you are going have a bad time.

Then why was native 4K at 60fps one of FM7’s most talked about “features”?

Let’s not pretend graphics aren’t an important aspect of gaming.

sure not for the background but for the aspect of the car and the road where the car go, the light progression, weather conditions etc… simply

For the photography community, this could be a big pain in the behind. Considering Ms and T10 promote and encourage photo taking, I think the graphical gripes are legitimate.
