The game definitely has more than its fair share of problems but, to be fair, it technically hasn’t released yet. Hopefully the day 1 patch fixes a decent number of issues. Don’t think I’m defending T10 either, I’m currently getting crashes at nearly every reward screen and suffering from the track disappearing, luckily rarely, at random.
Just to preface I have played fm1 fm2 fm3 fm4 fm6 fm7 fh1 fh2 fh3 fh4 fh5, onn and off over the years as a casual racing sim fan since gt1 and gt2. Casual being I dont really play career mode too much basically enough to get what needs to be done done and go on my merry way of freeplay races having fun driving the cars I like against varying levels of ai. This is how I enjoy my games. I have raced online in the past but ghosts and ai are my preference here. That and buying cars and using rl part specs to see how they apply in a simulated scenerio but thats me being a nerd.
I dont know how big of a percentage of people are like me and just race offline against ai but this release seems tone deaf to people like me, the grind equates to 1500 to 3000 plus hours if my math is right to grind out every upgrade for every car at 2-3 hours a car adverage with slower cars taking longer. This is a signifigant amount of time for those casual player who want to jump in grab a car if they have the credits and race add in some of us og fans are getting older with less time available via other rl commitments and all I can ask is WHY???.
I went into this release with optimism that the game would be a step foreward and while it is graphically and with the physics model issues need to be addressed, I have been playing on the series x so far with a few hiccups, hiccups like the game locking up in the paunt editor, locking up in the tuning editor and crashing , crashing while selecting a new car, crashing upon startup. This has happened repeatedly over the past few days of playing.
Other issues I have had are importing designs from older forza titles in the paint editor it just hangs there, and rpm scaling via cam upgrades being buggy . Also I do not know if its just me but Horizon 5 enabled transmission swapping a huge leap foreward imo, why was this not included in this release of Forza Motorsport? This would have been simple to include and would simulate rl motorsports more as swapping transmissions is very common, old examples 4 speed to tko 5 speed, 4/5 speed to 6 speed boxes like the t56 series, 7 speed bmw dct and 8 speed 8hp series swaps are now being used in rl aftermarket motorsports.
The game feels unfinished and not very well thought out, it seems there are glaring issues brought up by a decent amount of people so far on top of the ones I listed. Kinda feels like we as fans have been kicked in the stomach after 7 years.
Let me have say on supra. Compared to amg it feels like it is glued down to tarmac. Was fun to test all cars from the same class.
First of all before I start leaving my list of suggestions, I want to congratulate the team for this great game and I wish them many years of success.
-
Summary of Competitive Races: After each competitive race, provide access to a race history where players can review their race results, earned points, and other relevant statistics, similar to how it’s done in iRacing.
-
Improve Replays: Enhance the replay system, especially in competitive modes, to allow players to review incidents and analyze their performance. Consider taking inspiration from iRacing’s replay system.
-
Rejoin Option for Disconnections: Allow players to rejoin a race if they lose connection due to an error or bug, with a maximum time limit, especially if the race hasn’t started or is in the practice period.
-
Review Collision Penalties: Review and potentially increase the penalties for collisions. While track limit penalties are appropriate, penalties for collisions should be more severe, possibly including disqualifications for extreme incidents to discourage reckless driving.
-
Extend Ghosting for Returning Players: When a player returns to the game, especially when coming out of a pause menu while in ghost mode, maintain ghosting for at least 5 more seconds to prevent unintentional collisions.
-
Skill and Safety Comparison Table: Implement a table that allows players to compare their skill level and safety rating with that of their friends, similar to the way lap times are compared in Rivals mode.
-
Console Wheel Support Improvements: Improve the support for steering wheels on consoles to match the experience on PC. Conduct tests with the same steering wheel using default settings to ensure consistency. For example, the CSL DD 8NM and CSL Pedals should provide a similar experience on both platforms.
-
Save Wheel Force Feedback Configurations: Provide options to save and load force feedback configurations or profiles for steering wheels on consoles. Consider including presets for popular steering wheel models, similar to how Formula 1 games handle it.
-
Button Mapping for Console Wheels: Allow players to assign buttons on their console steering wheels. Some wheels have numerous buttons, and currently, players can only assign the basic functions of an Xbox controller. Determine if the issue lies with the game or the Xbox platform and work on a solution, given that Turn 10 and Team Xbox are part of the same team.
-
Community Engagement and Feedback: Actively engage with the community, follow success stories like Grounded, and respond as much as possible to bug reports and suggestions. Create a user-friendly platform for players to submit their feedback easily.
-
Regular Monthly Updates and Beta Channel: Implement a monthly update schedule and consider establishing a beta channel. With the new competitive mode, there’s a golden opportunity to build a dedicated and long-lasting community by rapidly implementing changes based on player feedback.
-
Multilingual Feedback Channels: Enable feedback submission in multiple languages, not just English. Provide communication channels for players from diverse communities who speak languages such as Spanish or Portuguese. Leverage AI systems to receive and translate these proposals into English, ensuring inclusivity and broadening the feedback base.
I am also going to leave an Excel where I can continue adding ideas or suggestions that I remember and I will also leave a sheet enabled for people who want to add their suggestions or comments.
My opinon is this after warching a few videos of the game, i wont buy it and i will cancel my gamepass ultimate. Up until this point i paid the last fm and fh games with ultimate and i will never give one more cent to t10/playground/microsoft.
All of this, if you want it to actually get attention, goes here:
100€ there is no relax if you asking about this much i expect this much. the end
The shifting in this game is absolute dog water. Playing with a wheel and pedal, get ready for massive disappointment. Shifts are so slow you would think you were shifting a Peterbilt or a military vehicle. Might as well turn manual with clutch off and drive an auto because manual shifting is such a joke that it becomes a mental health issue within the first lap. Thanks for giving us a massive step backwards.
It seems like they nerfed certain attributes so when you upgrade them they “feel” a lot better. It does work try upgrading your clutch or transmission.
Physics - (most important IMO)
Seems to be a hit or miss depending on the vehicle but overall I wouldn’t say its spectacular by any stretch. I think its improved over the previous titles but not by much. The exaggerated under steer thing seems to still be present among most vehicles. There is a major lack of feel through the wheel if you play with a wheel setup. Even major adjustments in the wheels advanced settings dont seem to change much about the feel of the car.
Graphics
Overall disappointing. The loading screen/garage/menu screens graphics all appear worse than fm4. The paint colors look awful. Strangely flat and lack any pop or metallic effect. Track and environment graphics are redeeming but also not spectacular. Grass/trees/bushes all look good. The tarmac on certain tracks is off. The colors are too oversaturated IMO, it makes the game look alittle arcadey.
Car List
Seems very small and lacking some favorites from before. Some new to motorsport models are redeeming tho.
Track List
Not overly happy about them but track lineup at launch is decent. I would be upset about the nurburgring not being here but I know itll come later.
Upgrade System
THIS IS AWFUL. TERRIBLE IDEA. TAKES THE FUN OUT OF THE GAME. TAKES FOREVER TO LEVEL UP THE CAR. i hate it
Have been playing Forza since original Xbox (reason I bought it really), and have some thoughts:
-
AI is incredibly bad, way worse than even previous years. Example race - both cars on pole and 2nd are maxed AI. 2nd place car on the first turn veers off track for unexplained reason, pole car slows down dramatically, and also veers off no good reason 2 turns later. Looking a the replay, it stays off to the side to let other cars pass (good thing), but then as all nearby cars are gone, it takes it time getting going, only to sideswipe another late comer…
-
Same car, goes into the pit, and first corner after goes off. Does this a second and a third time in the same race… remember, This was the car originally on pole…
-
Another race, just starting practice, the car up ahead of me turns onto the start/finish straight for the first time , and then proceeds to hit the the barrier into the pit. So many examples of this.
-
and just stopping for no reason, particularly on a straight with no one in front of them; come on…
-
Car levels/part unlocks; this is just foolish, particularly for multiplayer, but just as much for the campaign. It’s funny because right at the start, the game narrator tells you how you can build the car your way, yet of course leaves out the fact that no, no you can’t. And the fact this is tied to each individual car, even identical cars, is just ludicrous. a better solution would maybe have been to tie unlocks to manufacture levels, which I believe had been done past. While still sucks (like if I went it my local car part store and I’m told I’m not experienced enough with that brand yet…), at least you’re not having to grind out every car to gain some enjoyment out of them.
-
and player levels, why??? there doesn’t seem to be any practical reason as it doesn’t seem to unlock anything at all…
-
first MP race I did, decided to stay out on practice to get used to the track, and when it ended, figured we were going to qualify and set my fuel appropriately. I was wrong and had to pit for fuel. I just did another race where I figured when I chose Qualify, it’d allow me to set my fuel/tire loadout before going out, it did not. Just the practice/qualify/race isn’t very intuitive for first time users…
-
first multiplayer replay I took didn’t actually “start” the race, all cars just sat around while the blimp flew overhead. However, if I hot the left trigger to rewind, the cars would then either float up into the air, only to come crashing down when let go, or would go underground…
-
No driver stats to speak of. No clue how many poles, wins, track stats, etc…this is a most basic feature for a race sim, no??? I’m a pretty crap racer, but I still have a little bit of an ego that needs to be stroked by the few wins I get…
and for some good:
-
The game does look good; not the best I’ve seen, but it definitely is an evolution over previous Forza titles. That said, there have been a number of graphical glitching on my Series X.
-
Wheel contol, once you fiddle with it, is actually really good. Very happy with this.
-
Only Played two MP games so far, but both were pretty solid. Unfortunately you do still have ramers and general silliness, but hopefully that’ll reduce over time as player ratings take hold…
Out of it all, the two things that I really think needs addressing is the terrible AI as well as the Vehicle progression; these two are definitely the worst parts of the game, with the latter impacting MP greatly.
cheers,
Psyke.
I know this is small potatoes, but one thing is really grinding my gears about this game.
The Cadillac LMDP always being on the home screen. Always used to be the last car you were in.
You can be in Multiplayer or the Builders Cup. You go back to the home screen to maybe do some painting or tuning/upgrading the car you are in and … hey presto … its the Caddy ( that I don’t even own ),
Just a complete nuisance having to go and select the relevant car again.
Why should i need to play it for me to see it’s crap. Sure the core game, like driving physics i bet is good like it is in fh5. But all the rest is not very good from the upgrade system to the build from ground up nonsens. I have better things to do than to spend 5 hours just so i can awd swap a car for me it feels like fh5 all over again. They release it in alpha and they will get us to report the bugs and after 2 years it will at best be a beta.
It’s only there because you haven’t put your own cars there yet.
Go to My Cars, find the one you want and then put it in Position 1 in the garage.
It is now the feature car. (I have put the NSX GT3 car for me, gorgeous!)
You can then put 3 more in the background spots.
Happy to deal with that potato for you!
Thanks for the info. I really wanted to change the cars.
The new Forza Motorsport does a lot right. But there are still many problems Let’s start with the bugs.
- Rims cannot be colored. 2) Importing sample groups leads to crashes 3) Light and shadow bugs when driving at night 4) Missing textures and popping up the graphics 5) Rest mirror to pixelated
Wishes
- Textures, plants and surroundings please also as shown in the gameplay of 2022 2) Finally current cars at PSA, German Cars 3) Current GT1, GT2 GT3 cars. 4) Rain effect on the disc is bad, please please like at DriveClub. When it rains it too To be seen correctly on the disc. The few drops are not enough. 5) If I have to wait online until it starts, please also give the others the opportunity to watch the driving. 6. Finally can also make design and stickers on slices. 7) Customize color look. More contrast and black please also black. 8) Making tire marks visible in the grass 9) Camera mode even if you are in the box 10) Rest mirror better Blurry as this pixel look that looks like Xbox360 Game. 11) Long distance race 12) Seasons on the routes
Gives an evaluation on the post so that it is seen.
First I’d wish possibility to get more pad vibration/feedback, even at 100% its in many cases too low, either add more adjustability in slider, like max 150% etc, or make it stronger within present 0-100 area, everybody can easily tone it down if they want.
I uise 150% in PS5’s GT7 and there dualsense is nicely strong and raw. Same with ACC, both XsX or on PS5, it has raw, and sometimes violent, effects which I greatly like.
Other thing is cockpit views, it absolutely super that we finally have adjustment there, with fov-slider, earlier FM’s ahd much worse cockpit views than they are in Horizon’s. But, in many cars, view is too high, so if anyhow possible, add up/down option too. Thanks.
At some of the tracks the flying start in career mode are ridiculous, pretty much have to have my foot on the brake at the end of the countdown to TRY to keep from crashing. Personally I prefer my own out lap and then start the clock.
Saved replays do not actually play the race, just unless loop of on-grid formation before race start.
Both cockpit views have missing car geometry on some cars (the interior quarterlight pillar and windscreen surround). Really enjoying the game though, looks marvellous
