Initial thoughts on day one

Shinyodd just released perfect video to sum up this nonsensical release…
I encourage everyone to watch it.

I laughed the entire video, it’s really on point

Well, gave the car leveling thing a chance. I can tell somebody put thought into it. I’m just not sure what that thought actually was,….

Yeah, hate this. By the time I level a car up to the point of being able to do what I want with it, I’m just plain sick of driving said car.

Even better, a good share of the time, that level whatever engine swap, or drivetrain swap, doesn’t even work out for me, and I could have just stopped leveling the car around level 25 or so.

Oh, I could probably make the swaps work with a little tuning, which I used to love doing, but I really don’t feel like spending the time, after all the grinding.

Seems you’ve been working harder on that post for the past 6 years than the devs did on the game lol

Shame new game doesn’t even compare to fm7. All this money and can’t upgrade your car till you level it up? Manual w clutch is a joke until you put in race trans. Even then some cars don’t shift fast. Hesitate going in gear. I had a question. I want to buy my father fm7 on disk can he play it on his x version console ? We enjoy our two player action wo traffic. Fh4 still rocks for street racing!

Great review, why can’t we get honest reviews from the official reviewers? I’ve got only several hours in and feel a bit bored already, not enjoying single player championships I’m not interested in, and multiplayer seems decent, but the open class stuff seems weird since I’d have to race the car for awhile before upgrading to a top of class competitor. Engine exhaust audio is also poor again. Physics feel good, enjoyable racing still.

But ya, this is a 6yr development, no way🤦‍♂️

FM7 should be backwards compatible on Series X. I uninstalled it for FM2023. Guess I’ll have to redownload it from the disc and make sure that’s still the case.

I did see someone purchased this from Amazon and they was skeptical but it works. Wanted to update everyone. And also they noted only what the game offers is all you get no bonus or added cars. Hope to see y’all over on fm7 someday or fh4. :v:

I have been a long time Forza Motorsport fan, and been playing since Forza Motorsport launched in 2005. This is a game I really enjoy alone or with friends, or even getting new friends racing together.

FM early access random toughts :smirk: I really enjoy it, Turn10 have really done a great job bringing us a new som racing game you can play casually or seriously.

The days I have played it’s happiness or totally frustration. AI Stewart either are drunk or really generous, getting penalty is either deserved or not. After 10 races online I got safety rating S and from there it was a total downhill. I tough being placed in S rating lobby was going to be a good thing. But ppl do not care about penalties at all. I was crashed into at first lap, got penalties for stuff that was not my fault and lost safety rating and so on. People still divebomb first corner and or first lap and hope for the best not getting a penalty  Worst penalties I have seen in one race is a person getting over 10 sec penalty and still won the race. So penalties are not working at all. My toughts are either harder penalties for being an idiot on track, or give those idiots 30 min penalty from the multiplayer. Like what you get from leaving a matchmaking in comp games. Penalty need some work.

Graphics. Well? How to say this. For being a AAA game this is terrible. Blurry and terrible.

Pc specs.
Intel i7 13700KF
32GB DDR5 6000Mhz
MSI RTX 4080 Suprim X
M.2 pci-e x4 gen4 2tb 7000 read/write.
Monitor 1440p ultra wide.

RT and DLSS is turned off. Does not matter if it’s on or not. Game looks the same. And that is bad.
Other settings are set to ultra, high and medium. Tried to tweak the graphics to look descent. Still look terrible in some areas. Some mirrors in the cars makes the car or cars in the rearview mirror look like pixels. Honda Civic is the worst example.

Upgrade system. Wth? Turn10 what was you guys thinking? That system is the biggest mistake ever. Give us the option to upgrade everything at once, or make it manufacture upgrade and not a single car upgrade.

Forza Edition cars. What is the point of those cars other than looks? Are FE cars getting perks on launch day?

For now early access looks more like public beta testing than benefits for being a fan of the franchise! Turn10 I know you guys will fix the game and the full launch is a day away. At this state, I really hope there is fixes to come launch weeks. Forza Motorsport on pc at this state is not worth what price tag it got. Major issue is graphics on pc.

Sim wheel feels okay, but could have been better. Curbs feels unresponsive. But this is also something that can be fixed later. Hope Thrustmaster SF1000 gets a support later so we can use the screen.

If you look away from the negative aspect of the game at this state, FM is really enjoyable. It’s fun and addictive. Like that you have free practice and qualifications before a race. Hope you guys give us a few more laps with qualifications or change it so if you are done with practice you can run qual until the race starts. 30 min to start. Half practice and half qual. This will give you plenty of time to test out setup for hard, medium, soft and rain tire. Even find a good race setup for what tire you want to race with. Every one now just put 3 rounds of fuel and soft tire run the fastest lap and use hard og medium for race and have a car that slide around :see_no_evil:

Yeah, I have been loving the game in general, and Hokihoshi just came out with a great video to get wheels tuned better. My biggest issues so far are the Manual+Clutch forcing insanely slow shifts (To the point where it is unusable and feels horrible), and the AI.

I think the car progression thing is OK, and I think they should allow it to pan out for a bit rather than scrapping it… There is potential there, and I like that it forces me to drive the car before slapping a ton of mods on it. I do however think that the car progression thing exacerbates some other issues.

For example, the aggressive and bad AI is a lot more noticeable if the AI has race tires and aero because they are now capable of brake checking you and ramming you while cornering on your stock tires. As for getting randomly sideswiped while passing on a strait… I don’t think that is related lol.

They announced Nordschleife was coming later.

THIS. I get a car to level 25-30 and then that series ends and I have to start with a fresh car.

My opinion after initial 20 hours playing the game:

Positive and great things:

  • Best driving in any Forza Motorsport ever, far superior than previous one and much more closer to a serious simracer. Great in track feelings (I play on wheel only).
  • Great FFB even with my humble G29, I’ve just increased and touched some settings as it was a bit bland by default.
  • Visually speaking I love how it looks and the realistic lighting, even that the PC version which I play is totally mess in settings and performance.
  • The level of detail in every circuit is astonishing and far superior to any other racing game IMHO.
  • Track dynamics feel great
  • Featured online is AWESOME!! Finally we got serious racing including pit strategy, tyre compound and practice+qualyfing sessions. Best game mode in any Forza ever. Please even if you add custom lobbies, keep these as they are now.
  • Time attack and rivals mode are great especially with the great driving physics.

Mixed bag things:

  • Progression system feels artificial and a barrier to simply put more hours in the game. I dont mind to put 3 hours on rivals to level up a car and custom it the way I like it, but I understand that people complain about it.
  • Sound effects sometimes are great but there is some flaws aswell like the VTEC Honda engines that sounds terrible.
  • Penalty system should be more strict, even that for the launch it is decent, I expected something worse. Better than FM7 FRR

Negative things and issues that have to be fixe ASAP:

  • AI is just terrible. No competition feeling anywhere, they don’t know even how to drive close and quick to another car.

  • 60fps cap multiplayer is like an insult for PC players

  • Replay system is dreadful. we cannot see even in which lap the replay is going on, no timeline, no options, nothing. And multiplayer replays are bugged and I cannot reproduce them

  • Always online game is something definitely bad

  • It’s buggy and it looks like there has been no testing period in lots of minor(and some major) things

  • Recycled Xbox360 models: E30, E92, Golf II, Sivia, etc.

  • Lack of assists granularity, on TC, ABS, this should be possible specially on GT cars

  • Missing auction house, it’s like a mini-game that provides great fun

  • It is TERRIBLE that we cannot select Km/h and hp as measure units, in Europe we use that!!! I don’t know what means the power of a car in KW. This is possible in Forza Horizon since long time ago and it is just lazyness from T10

  • Where are the STATISTICS? Races played, podiums, pole positions, distances covered in total and by car, safety and skill ratings improvement or decreased after every ranked race… there is nothing!!!

I miss a roadmap from T10 apart from we’re gonna deliver this track in this date, we need to know which are the features they are working on and which are the plans in the shortterm for the game

As a recap, great game, probably BEST FM EVER even with its flaws, please Fix the PC version performance and settings!!

In lots of European countries, nobody knows nothing about Kw when talking about motors. If the game tells to me that a car has 220 Kw, I do not understand what that does mean as it is not used anywhere in here. When we speak about engines in cars, motorbikes or whatever we talk about horsepower (in fact we use CV as standard unit which is not exactly the same as bhp, but as it’s like nearly the same it is good enough).

It is not “by grace” that we got the units we daily use in a motorsport/cars game, it’s the way it should be. In fact I cannot remember any other racing game or saga that has this resolved this bad. Horizon latest iterations fixed it and now we step back again.

Which was that claim? “From car lovers to car lovers” T10 said, there is no love in here if you tell a car guy or any petrolhead a specification he just cannot understand or know, or he has to calculate as he does not immediately realize.

I looked through the Single Player campaign yesterday and it seems a bit small? Isn’t FM7’s career a lot longer? Is just a few themed series with some championships. I believe FM7 and especially FM4 had more to do. FM4 even had a whole bucketlist of challenges you needed to complete. And even after that you could try to unlock various badges through challenges (similar to achievements and accolades).

There is still Trackday wich seems monthly thingy and it says in the career tile updated over time.

I don’t play online, only single player. The games are focused more on multiplayer with each title it seems

And no daily Forzathons either. Or do we get those at the official release?

Ongoing and ever-growing. I wonder what they’ll do with that. Add new series and championships? If so I wish they would do that with FH5 as well.

Yeah, this needs to be fixed. It goes from way too hard to not even needing to use the clutch to shift once you get the race transmission. I play with damage on so it’s rough. They need to REWARD hardcore players not punish them which has always been the case.
