My little review

So been playing the game since launch but not a ton of time because well I am not a serious player. I play on the basic settings because I really don’t want to mess around with fuel and tires. With that my thoughts.

Overall - moments of fun with plenty of frustration.

Good - The game looks great, the tracks are nice and I like that most have options of reverse and multiple layouts.
The Medium - Credits are easy enough to get but not too easy, I like the bonus for grid position. The car upgrade XP path for now seems fine but this might get annoying later. Like that they have an auto select upgrade feature (because mostly I don’t feel like messing with car setup). For the most part the racing series are good though some tracks seem to appear often.
The Bad - Given that I am in the basic settings which says that tire wear, fuel and break fade are not a thing the breaking in the game seems at time (and especially on some tracks) wildly inconsistent. A times the cars just don’t seem to slow down at all, you rewind and break the same way and the car nearly comes to a stop. Then there is also the understeer which for the most part is present to an extent but never really sure how bad it will be, except of course for the times you suddenly have oversteer. I don’t even bother with the multi-player games because of these factors, I like racing clean but when I feel that I have no idea what the car will do in the next turn it feels like it will just be more like bumper cars than racing and I don’t want to upset others or myself because of guessing.

Little things that need fixing

  • Race series highlight event rewards - why am I coming off a series using an LMP1 car to then be given an LMP1 car? Why am I completing a series with an S1 car to be given an S1 car and run the same track I just completed? Just a little thought so there is some kind of flow.
  • The menus are annoying. Like the car menu, the option to quick select the make really isn’t any quicker than not using that option. Also why doesn’t the menu cycle around when you get to the end or beginning?
  • When buying the cars why can’t we change the view so we can see what the color options really look like. Also why can’t I select the base/highlight colors when buying a car?

I would say that I probably have more fun with FH5.

I think we’ve had enough people post up their 2c reviews covering all the same points.

disagree I think T10 should hear from every one of their paying customers that has an opinion.

So I feel that this is a new trend after the last update which is just frustrating. The test laps are a thing and I know you can skip them but most of the time I am using a new change to the car, so it is useful and it does add to the car level. Prior to the update it was 95% of the time a frustration in catching the car just ahead of you on track somewhere towards the end of lap 2 but now it seems that at the start of lap 2 I have to deal with multiple cars exiting the pits and crossing on to the track just a couple car lengthens in front of me making impossible to avoid them. This has happened in 5 of the last 6 races that I have done.

The AI, have no concept of blue flag or safety. Their only concerns when coming from pit exit, or off the road for that matter, is to get in front of you as quickly as possible. That no matter the speed differential.

In truth, their program is most probably to get back on the racing line ASAP, but since chance this is where you are going to be it is all the same.

I understand that but it seems that cars exiting the pits just after completing lap 1 of testing is a far more common thing now. I experienced it in 2 of the 4 races I did yesterday and now 7 of 10 since the update.

That’s the problem both Forza and GT7 have. Backmarkers will just race like they’re competing with you on the same lap. ACC does a great job with that as they react to blue flags and will safely let you through.
