Looking forward to Update 4.0 and beyond!

Like a lot of Forza faithful, I was pretty disappointed when this game launched. It wasn’t the graphics for me, I think the game has some really incredible moments visually, and it wasn’t that there were only 20 tracks, that’s more than enough to start off with, also, since I play on a Series X, the optimization problems plaguing the PC version aren’t something I have to deal with.
I was disappointed because Turn 10 removed ALL of the ‘car culture’ elements that had been part of the series since Forza 4; ForzaVista was completely stripped out and became simply ‘view car’, the voiceovers from real world car personalities were gone, car and manufacturer histories were gone, Forza Tv, the Marketplace… gone and gone.
But…
once I stopped diminishing Forza 2023 because it wasn’t a pretty version of Forza 6, I started appreciating what is there instead of what isn’t… and I think it’s actually a really good game, missteps and all.

now if they’d just do something about that ‘Reward Car’ nonsense and throw in a few different home-spaces without all those infuriating shadows, I’d raise my Xbox store review of the game more than I already plan to. :slightly_smiling_face:

Yeah it’s a good game, just nothing like they ‘promised’ I actually really like it myself, and know I will be playing it for many months as the slow trickle of content comes in.Heck I still play FM6-7.When the crowd starts the hate train all the weak-minded fools seem all too eager to jump aboard,it’s the same with everything in society these days.I find it appalling tbh,it’s like a herd mentality takes over,it’s very toxic behavior.

I will not give this game a good review.

Maybe if they get rid of the upgrade system, fix the PC issues. Fix the AI issues. Fix the online ramming issues. Fix the penalty issues. Fix the career mode. Fix audio issues. Return the auctionhouse.
AND GIVE US BACK OVERALL LEADERBOARDS.

So many peopleare now becomming complacent with this garbage product. Once you are accepting mediocrity, the mediocrity doesn’t end.

Don’t be a lemming. Voice your concerns over and over. The squeaky wheel gets the grease.

I was pretty hyped for FM before its release. I even got myself a decent wheel (MOZA R9, SRP pedals, GS wheel) for the first time ever. Being very blunt, FM is the probaly the single worst sim to play on a wheel by a huge margin. AC, ACC, AMS2 … FM’s wheel support can’t even get close. While it’s supposedly the most casual of these games, it strikes you with the most FFB options to configure and will still give you a completely detached feeling. With all of its other shortcomings, I’m really not excited when reading something like

Official Patchnotes: This version is focused on new content and events, and contains only minor fixes for car and track content compared to our previous updates.

when previous patches hardly fixed anything and the new content is all merely rehashed stuff. Not only is this game disappointing as is, there’s really no feeling that the devs are trying to pull it around besides that single community post where they admitted that some features aren’t what they hyped them up but they really don’t know yet what to do and when. D’uh.

  • Horrible carPG system (system has to be removed, it’s self explanatory) :-1:
  • Horrible CPU performance on PC (doesn’t take advantage of multithreading & is single threaded) :-1:
  • Horrible Sound (Transmission is too loud, and it sounds like you are in a tunnel, if next to tiny wall) :-1:
  • Horrible AI (self explanatory) :-1:
  • Horrible menus, hud and other things :-1:
  • Horrible career mode it’s like there isn’t a career mode :-1:
  • Horrible long loadtimes if downloading tunings & liveries :-1:
  • Game is unstable :-1:
  • Same car models from years ago :-1:
  • Not enough race tracks :-1:
  • Can’t switch transmission from 5 gears to 6 gears or 8 gears to 6 gears etc. :-1:
  • As far as i can tell more downforce doesn’t make cornering better it’s like it only makes cars slower :-1:
  • There are no real water puddles so no real aquaplaning anymore like in FM7 :-1:
  • Multiplayer is a wreckfest :-1:
  • In general the game looks good :+1:
  • The dynamic weather is halfway decent (but no water puddles anymore…) :+1:
  • The dynamic day & night is great :+1:
  • The car physics is at least halfway decent :+1:
  • The car selection is okay :+1:
  • Damage model is halfway decent :+1:

There are more cons than pros that is for sure. In it’s current state i would rate it 3.5/10 or 4/10 not any better. The game is playable sure, but not very enjoyable. it feels more like a chore if playing the game, a game shouldn’t feel like a chore.

I made sure to pick the appropriate word for how ‘I’ feel about the game… I didn’t say great, I didn’t say fantastic, I didn’t casually toss out the phrase, ‘greatest simcade ever’ lol,
I said ‘good’, and YOU arguing with ME over how I"M supposed to feel about a video game is kinda silly.
Also, to imply that Turn 10 didn’t put any genuine work, effort, craft, or passion into Forza 2023
is disrespectful, they obviously did… bad design choices, implementing gameplay systems that are going to prove to be unpopular, are completely separate issues.

of course it’s subjective.
that more people feel let down by it than are happy or satisfied doesn’t change the reality that forming an individual opinion of the game is ‘subjective’.
…as I’ve played the game, my initial opinion, which was completely negative, has changed, there’s things about the game I’ve grown to like and appreciate.

have a good one.

I agree; it’s the first Forza where I’ve had a good feeling on a wheel to the point where I no longer play on pad.

The basic structure of multiplayer is exactly what I wanted Turn 10 to make after seeing what was in GT Sport.

The game has a lot of bugs and design issues which are frustrating (some incredibly so), but I’m still putting time in almost daily so they must be doing something right at least.

While there are issues with this game I’m still enjoying it. I find the graphics are mostly good with some truly epic moments in the rain or at night with RT on. Yes, there’s some bits like the grass which aren’t as dense as the pre release videos but I don’t care. I’m not here to count blades of grass or complain that they’ve only used 2.2% more triangles to model the headlights compared to FM7 or that the stitching around the air vents is a little too red.

I’m here to race and I’m enjoying that aspect. It might be a bit wonky occasionally but I’m still having fun.

What I’m not enjoying is that people on here drop into every single positive thread to complain. There’s loads of threads for complaining.

Try and keep it on topic.

I play on XSX.The flickering on the home screen and autoshow screen seems to have gone,I only had a quick session tonight so dont know if it has been totally fixed.
Daytona feels good,I dont normally like ovals but the infield circuit is pretty good.
Im looking forward to giving the Delta Intergrale a thrashing on thursday,so all in all im happy with this update, though im sure i will be told I have low standards, lol.
I hope T10 can turn things around as I do enjoy the game despite the issues :+1:

Yeah same here,it feels better than 6 or 7 on a wheel.(Fanatec CSW 2.5 here)I can ‘feel’ the car losing grip and slow down a wee bit and 'feel it regain grip and powering the rear of a car out while maintaining control has never been more fun.The difference in handling between cars is astonishing and I really enjoy switching it up daily to a different car for a new challenge. The Carpg ‘grind’ doesn’t bother me one little bit because I couldn’t care less what level my cars are at tbh… turn10 keep the tracks incoming!!!

And take off the training wheels, I’m tired of 3 lap races… Let me design my OWN series in freeplay, because what the dev team designs in (ahem) career is too short!
