I’m tired of it. For the past 7 years we’ve had to deal with underdeveloped games with buggy menus, terrible driving standards, and appalling server quality, all for the sake of those “sick graphics bro”. You’ve sacrificed everything that made Motorsport 1-4 great just so you can shove as many cars into the game as possible and act like you have the most to offer out of any other racing game, when in reality over half of those 700+ cars were old models that have been outdated for 10+ years by their newer replacements that you refuse to add. Oh but when you do add new cars, you add completely useless junk like vans and 4x4’s while giving FH4 cutting-edge racecars and supercars. I watched your so called “reveal trailer” in July and was disappointed to see only 1 new car displayed, and in particular you showed the Mazda B09 that’s been in Forza since Motorsport 3, as if that’s supposed to be an example of a “modern racecar”. Give me a break.
The Motorsport franchise has been a joke for far too long. This NEEDS to be the game where you prove to us that you still know how to make a proper, serious racing sim (or sim-like). Yet I can’t help but expect Dan Greenwalt to come out next year and talk about how this game has “an entirely new level of graphics and realism” like he’s done for the past 3 titles. Hey Dan, guess what? NOBODY CARES ABOUT GRAPHICS! We want an updated roster of modern racecars, improved online server quality, and features that actually encourage community interactions like a proper storefront, custom public hoppers, and player-to-player gifting. If Microsoft won’t let you develop the game the way you want, then either move to a different sponsor or just stop making the Motorsport games altogether. I fell in love with this series with 3 and 4, and it’s heartbreaking to see it falling to pieces the way it has.
I know the game is still in early development, and we barely know anything about it yet. But you guys need to understand that you have A LOT of people placing their final hopes in you with this next game, so please do not screw it up again. Give us the game we’ve been waiting for.
Very good. Now, like any other reasonable and truthful post from the past, this one will also get totally ignored by everybody for mysterious reasons.
On the other hand, posts where kids gush over how perfect a ‘sim’ forza is, will be kept alive by others of their breed.
Forza 7 seemed excellent… till the 1st glitch at seeker open, hockenheimring circuit… cant race the tracxk at all!!! only test drive allowed…7 games in Forza, and they still have glitches…how paTHETIC! no wonder it was $20!!!
I’ve been here a long time, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen a post “gush over how perfect a sim forza is”. Most posts are critical of the game and developer, but the mature thing to do is keep your criticism constructive and respectful …… Or the message will get lost and will be largely ignored… and that goes for life in general.
This coming generation will change none of the problems this + so many other series have created in this one, no amount of extra graphical power can.
Graphics have been just fine since near the end of the 360 era anyway, games like FM4 + original Horizon, Hitman Absolution, 360 GTA V and Assassin’s Creed 3 still look perfectly ok now.
Call me pessimistic but I have no idea what people are so excited about with these upcoming consoles, we’re still going to get buggy releases, live service garbage where games release as shells with little content and predatory MT’s, it’s just going to look a tiny bit prettier than now.
By current standards the Forza series on XB1 is a long way off being the worst series for that type of stuff but I agree it’s still gone downhill.
Realising that 100% in FM6’s Stories of Motorsport consisted of the exact same races 6 times through is a disappointment I won’t forget for a long time.
Would 120fps and ray tracing have made that better in any way shape or form? No.
Well, since the next game has a 99.9% chance of shipping with FRR, the “driving standards” bit is covered. At least until people learn how to game the system.
(although I trust Microsoft much better than Sony to create an algorithm, due to their machine learning developments…)
I have no idea how the game will play but, judging by the last few FM7 updates, they’re headed in the right direction. Furthermore, graphics is an absolute priority, since the Series X is the most powerful console and must live up to its name (Halo didn’t help).
I’ll happily take old 4x4s over most hypercars, supercars, and race cars (although what I really want are micro cars). I loved FM3, but I enjoyed 5-7 far more than 4. I’m hoping the extra resources of the new consoles allow for better and more weather effects. The puddles of 6 have been one of my favourite things in the series.
Oh, don’t you worry! It will indeed be a graphic showcase. But that doesn’t mean it can’t do both. After 7 it demands to be a complete game. I really don’t think they will take this game lightly.
I love your all caps quote that nobody cares about graphics. That has to be the most hyperbolic incorrect statement I’ve read on here in a long time. in fact almost everyone does care about graphics, just to varying degrees. and to sell games they have to look amazing. do they have to play great? that would be awesome, and those of us on the forum would love that. but far less than 1% of the people that buy this game are on this forum or are really big pure race fans to be honest. so it’s always going to be a struggle for those of us that want accurate racing.
myself, I think the Forza series has been excellent, for the most part. it maintains a mostly sim like racing style, while allowing the enjoyment of modifying and upgrading cars and driving them how you wish.
additionally, as a gamer of other game types I can assure you no game that I have purchased in recent memory has come out complete, solid or without bugs. it is just the world we live in with gaming. these games are unbelievably complex, have a multitude of features considerably greater than we’ve ever had in games. and to expect them to release in any timely fashion and be perfect is a bit ignorant of the world of gaming that exists today. I’m not speaking out my butt on this. two of my best friends work in the industry: one is the track designer at iRacing, the other one is on the Halo team. so I know a bit about how much effort goes into these. if you look back over the years those games weren’t perfect either, and they had just a fraction of the features and longevity that the games coming out today have.
i think The Forza Motorsport series is one of the few games available for racing that bridges that gap quite well. obviously you have desires for the game, we all do. but stomping around with all caps saying, nobody cares about graphics, is just silly. and more accurately, totally incorrect.
Constantly updating graphics is nice but doesn’t mean anything if FM5, 6, & 7 is all you have to show for it. As far as racing is concerned, FM4 is the last game that Turn 10 seemed to actually care about. FM5 was a rushed dumpster fire of a game that might not deserve to be called a tech demo, FM6 was at least better then 5 but lacked custom public lobbies (just why), FM7 is nice if you don’t care about seeing your lap times (how is digging through menus acceptable to view lap times when testing out tuning differences), oh and toyota. NOBODY CARES ABOUT UNNECESSARY GRAPHIC UPGRADES WHEN YOU JUST USE IT AS AN EXCUSE TO NOT DELIVER A GAME THATS EVEN AS GOOD AS FM4. As much as Turn 10 has disappointed this entire console generation, I’m out here being hopeful that they will learn from their many mistakes and release a solid game again… or at least make FM4 backwards compatible so we can have a good Forza again.
Yes. This is what most of the Motorsport community wants/needs.
Casuals are lame, devs should focus Motorsport for hardcore racing fans. Bumpers should be able to fly off, and windows should be able to break. FM8 needs to be a simulation like the first Forza.
Can we get an actual pit crew animation this time? You know… like instead of nice little rain droplets on my car that reflect the lifeless visor on my racer’s helmet? I’ve been curious as to why that effect was added and has remained, but of course that must be beyond my comprehension.
Nice graphics I appreciate, but just the same as many others I don’t agree with graphics “improvements” being the sole benefit to FM8. I stuck with FM6 from 2016 up until two months ago when I broke down and bought FM7. I don’t care for the track load times compared to FM6, nor do I understand why they’re so long because I’m running an Xbox One X on a 1080p TV at 60 Hz, not even 4k. HOWEVER, I do like the few new environments brought back/in for FM7 even though I almost exclusively run Tri-Oval and Nordschlife in Free Play. The track detail, for me, is rather irrelevant at first glance. I’m always too busy trying to avoid other cars and can’t be bothered to check the facial detail on the cardboard cutout fans outside the barrier. Peace of mind knowing that there are high-poly civilians watching me isn’t more important than me clipping around at Monza. I run 42mbps, so no, it’s not on my end of the connection.
I gotta say… like, how good can it look? FM6 still looks about as good as it gets on my screen. The cars and track can only look so good to a certain point. After that, graphics become meaningless. Hell, as others have said, FM4 looks pretty good itself to this day. I don’t want to hear about (in wrestling announcer voice) “A NEW LEVEL OF IMMERSION WITH DETAILED PIT CREW OUTFITS disclaimer there is no pit crew animation it’s still just some sounds of someone tinkering about with a screwdriver and compression wrench.”
