It is hilarious how I keep reading good comments and remarks about the game everywhere: xboxera, racedepartment, random people in tweeter, comments on youtube videos… but as soon as I come here the game is suddenly unplayable and broken.
I hope Turn10 listen to the criticism over here but also listen the positive views of the game out there, because this game could bring a lot of players in the long term.
The game has a lot of bad things to talk about but It also has very good things.
Of course heavy critics of the game are more than welcome to express their opinion, it is their game too. But this place (and reddit) is a bubble that has little to do with the general opinion of the game.
Ill also add that what I’ve seen on youtube around this are smaller creators trying to hitch their wagon here. The bigger ones all did the normal shill rounds, Though this game was actually bad enough that even they were pretty critical leading up to launch.
Basically everything positive about the game is as expected, Better graphics, better handling, better Multiplayer(mostly).
But unless they really dive into the mountain of small stuff. Which that in itself is a daunting task. Their opinion doesnt have too much relevancy. Dismissing these small issues as if its all too minor and just expected to be fixed eventually is a fools errand. You shouldn’t base opinions on how good something is on what it could be in the future. Especially in a product review, that is defined as dishonesty.
Because most of the positive reviews are from outlets that are only going to play 10 or so hours and make a review. They are even more casual than the casuals. They see decent looking graphics and a decent physics model and enjoy their few races in single player. They aren’t part of the hard core crowd having to spend hours to lvl up 1 single car to get enough points to build it to find out if they even like the car or not. If not, hours wasted and onto the next. There is a slew of reasons but that is the big boy. Of course you’re going to like something if you haven’t played enough to encounter the bad. I liked my ex on the 1st date too.
Why would you go to all the effort of creating a thread just to downplay genuine problems and issues many players are having while they try to play this game?
Because there’s currently a concerted effort to convince people that a game sitting at 39% on Steam, hovering around two stars on the Microsoft Store, and has a Known Issues page that is six printed pages long and growing…is a smash hit the world over.
I never claim that I am better or that the game has not issues. I just say that there seems to be quite a lot of people out there that seem to be enjoying the game a lot. But in reddit and here it is all doom and gloom.
I find it very strange. And not very healthy. Going over and over about the same topics. If you don’t like the game, once you have complained about it, what is the point of playing the game or talking about it?
It looks like XBOX is looking for a different kind of audience with this game. With serious physics and serious multiplayer events. And with a leveling up system that requires something as disgusting as driving a near stock car. This change makes sense since FM7 sold poorly.
I am not a Forza fan I just happened to download this game on gamepass and I was genuinely surprised at how good the car handles and how good and fun the multiplayer is. And the game has some issues and I hope they will fix it. But I seriously doubt this game is made for most of you.
This is merely your perception. The perception of one player. Have you ever stopped to think wow there’s a lot of common feedback/issues raised by many different players here on the official forums and on Reddit. Maybe there are major issues impacting these players from playing the game. Maybe they are onto something around key aspects of the game like car leveling needing revision. And importantly that maybe I shouldn’t try overshadow what all these players are saying as they are either trying to escalate fixes or ultimately seek key improvements to the game they want to play and enjoy…
Well done on making anything you say hold absolutely zero weight, as if it wasn’t rubbish enough already.
You’re a self-confessed non Forza fan trying to talk down to people who’ve probably forgotten more than you know about the franchise, that is either an unbelievable lack of self-awareness or incredible arrogance.
Well I am a FM23 fan then. So I am now more forza fan that any of you.
The game has a ton of problems that need to be addressed, but I the game can not be reshaped to suit many of your expectations. It looks to me that Turn10 is trying to make game that can be taken seriously by the racing community. Until now it was not taken very seriously. I prefer not to explain why.
Exactly. Racing games thrive on the rise-and-repeat formula probably more than any other genre. What seemed like fun at the one hour mark can be boring as all heck by the twenty hour mark.
Whether many people realize it or not, the longevity of enjoyment is always the name of the game with racing games, even with the greatest racing titles of all time. Especially nowadays since more and more games are pushing live services, meaning you’re probably more bound to spend five times as long playing a modern game than you would an older title.
I mean, look at it this way. You play Project Gotham Racing 2 for twenty hours, but once you’re done, you’re finished with the game until you decide to replay it maybe a year or two later. On the other hand, Horizon and Motorsport probably each take about half as long to complete, but you’re expected to come back every week to check out new content for at least two to three years (maybe even longer in Motorsport’s case), and you can never restart your profile and career mode without sacrificing time sensitive prizes. It’s ridiculous what modern gaming has come to.
Like our expectations of being able to play a stable game that doesn’t randomly crash, or have infinite loading screens or cause players to lose hours of progress? A game we have paid for… How big is this hole you’re digging mate?
i’m losing my favourite game, you’re losing your mind again feels apt for how this game is and the current state of things. it’s starting to lose its lustre for me, as i can see flaws that weren’t as obvious to me as before
The game is performing very poorly, commercially speaking. I’m not expecting Horizon levels of popularity, but come on, it hasn’t even broken 5k players on Steam. It’s almost as low as hardcore sims.
Then there’s Game Pass users, both PC and console, but this game is next gen-only, so it doesn’t have as big a userbase to draw upon.
Microsoft did a fair bit of marketing for this game, so they most certainly weren’t expecting it to be limited to its niche.
I remember saying a while ago that I believed Forza Motorsport to be a dying/dead franchise. I stand by my statement. I’m even more convinced this will be the game to kill it. Microsoft has nothing to gain by keeping Forza Motorsport around when Horizon is much more popular.
I don’t think I ever pushed you on this, but I had never believed that. I still don’t want to believe it. But with things as they are now…yeah, now I have to agree. This game is a franchise killer.
