The forum is filled with negative posts about the game, how about we change the trend and say some positive sides of the game. What makes you boot up the game and play everytime?
I know the game has its ups and downs, but my god the game is really beautiful. I have played GT7, but for some reason I keep coming back to Forza. Forza has this immersive experience which GT never has, the graphics and fidelity of Forza is UNMATCHED. Here are my 3 picks why I love the game:
Game Physics
Graphics
Underrated but I love the Featured Multiplayer System
Monthly updates (although I wish the hotfixes were more frequent)
Real dynamic lighting for time of day and weather. Great visual atmosphere driving in and out of cloud shadows that move lap to lap, and change with the weather.
Force Feedback on my wheel feels the best of the racing games I play.
Hate the way it feels on controller, can’t find a deadzone/steering sensitivity to my liking, save your breath I tried it all.
On my wheel it’s amazing don’t change a thing.
New content being added
I been gaming for 30 years and finally a company who wants to listen to our feedback and suggestions. Use our feedback for new games and you will go far.
The Gen-7 NASCAR models. They’re not perfect, but good enough to keep me painting them for years to come. I truly don’t need any other cars.
This may seem like an insane approach to the current game, but Forza has since FM3 been my canvas first, and a racing game second.
That’s what Forza is all about to me, or has been in the past: a game where players can do what they enjoy most, whether that is SP racing, MP racing, tuning, or painting.
If T10 could just get rid of the basic issues that have been around since launch, I believe that many players would return.
Featured Multiplayer - it’s great, much better than FM7, although lacking Drift and Track Day lobbies and track selection is too American
Forza Race Regulations - it exists and works most of the time, huge improvement compared to FM7 where there was no fair racing whatsoever
Tire compounds
24 hours cycle (although it could be smoother)
Improvements and balancing of car divisions
T10 keep adding new to Forza racecars, which is great
Ballast upgrade option which helps to get to 50/50 weight distribution
Forza things - Rivals, car sandbox factor, physics, community
Interior mirror alignment - since launch I’ve noticed that in most cars where you can see mirrors in cockpit - they are aligned perfectly so that you can actually use them during the race
It’s a genuinely good, fun racing game that whilst “simcade” is certainly sim-enough. The physics engine isn’t as deep as something like ACC but it gets all the most important and prevalent elements right without going into granular detail.
It’s great for just casual, varied fun and yet I can burn several hours doing all sorts of stuff. Compared to ACC I’d spend the same amount of time driving 1 car at 1 track practicing and preparing for 1 league race.
The community is actually very good. I’m only ever in S/A safety lobbies and driving standards are actually quite good. Very few people driving irresponsibly and I think the best representation of that is just how well multi-class racing works. The Open/Multi lobby has 4 classes in it and despite swarms of cars battling, people for the most part seem to understand how to do that safely.
The graphics/tracks. Especially iconic tracks like the Nordschleife, Bathurst, Spa, Le Mans. I really enjoy Test Driving at various times in all kinds of weather conditions and appreciating the scenery as I go.
The dev team has done a good job of absorbing and delivering on community feedback. FRR is one example, but I’d also highlight ghosting which has really improved racing (defeating rammers/spearing, safe re-entry etc), multiplayer lobbies and formats, changing the whole Car CP thing etc.
I loved the colabs with Mobil 1 in particular. Hope there is more of that in the future.
There sure is a big list of stuff that needs doing, but what we have is certainly good and delivers an engaging, fun experience.
I like the way the ffb feels with my CSW 2.5, it’s unmatched in terms of fun to play. I also like the graphics, although I know anything less than 1440p can make it look pretty bad. I got prepared ahead of time for this game and purchased a 3090, so 4k is doable for me and although it’s not what they teased us with, it still looks darn good.
GRID games hold a very special place in my heart and I really wish they would’ve went in a bit more serious direction to compete with Forza/GT, something like they did with Autosport but even more serious. Codemasters are GOATs at racing games and I’m confident it would have been a great game. When it comes to amount of content - sure, there are much less cars (although in general there’s still lots of content in Legends) - but the quality is always there in every game, unlike with Forza. When it comes to the controller feel - it’s easy to get used to and steering settings are much more flexible, I also think the camera plays a huge part in how the handling feels in those games.
I’m still playing it regularly after a year so it’s hard to be too critical (even though I want to be). I really enjoy the driving in it, the range of different cars you can try and the fact there’s a good group of online racers I regularly encounter at similar or better level to me.
I can’t let it go without saying it should be so much better though. It still feels like a game put together at bare minimum standard, with nothing which feels like it was designed to amaze. I still remember the feeling of playing the early FMs and the love and detail that had been put into them was obvious. This lacks that and I think that the way they appear to have approached the game will have destroyed a lot of trust.
