I’ve been grinding, and grinding, and grinding for days so i can buy a p1, or modern indy type car. I’ve put countless hours into it, and haven’t spent a dime so i can save about 1,500,000. Now after all of this, I’m finally there and I don’t want to spend a weeks worth of mindless driving on one car. I think these types should be like 500-750k. It’s a little ridiculous that you have to put this much time and effort into this game for ONE car. Not to mention you only get 16 races for said car, which will probably add up to 160k ish. That in itself is so broken. No i’m not complaining, it’s just my opinion. Anyone else agree?
Edit: tier points would help as well if it didn’t take like three times as long to advance to the next tier!
IMO they were seeking to extend the life of fm5 by extending the time it takes to earn cars. Once you’ve acquired all the cars you’ll quickly get bored and have no incentive to race and earn more money (well not necessarily, but many would feel that way).
Having said that they still made changes due to the huge backlash and accusations of ripping off customers with real money once they decided the epic grind was not worth it.
As it sits right now I think its fine. Using fm4 as a measuring stick it was far too easy to make money, especially through the SF or auction house (which is why they are gone too). Most of your money in a racing game should come from racing, and it should take more than a couple events to step into a new car…
I had about 12 million credits + all the cars I had to buy when I was finished with my career, so I can not say that it is difficult to earn credits in this game.
Between car affinity and VIP bonus, I can get most of that in one day of play. Granted, I have more free time than most people, so one day of play can literally end up being 6+ hours on whatever game I’m hooked on at the time, but has far has FM5 goes I haven’t had any real issues with lack of credits.
Forza rewards also goes a long way. I semi avoid collecting on that, just because the rewards have been so big to date.
I play on two different accounts, and quite frankly, I’ve got more than I know what to do with on both, but if time is an issue, I could see how people might not what to spend all of it grinding.
I’ve easily gotten 2 million or so in the last 2-3 days just working through career a couple of hours each day and not ‘grinding’. Just play the game with limited assists and drivatar difficulty turned up and the money will flow in with no need to grind.
I’m not talking about the tokens/boosting your experience thing if that’s what your thinking. It comes with the LE, but yeah, they sell it separate for people that didn’t get the LE. Basically just upgrades your account with a few perks, like 70,000 credits per level up instead of the 35 or so that you get normally. Used to be more useful in past Forzas though, when you got priority in the auction house and storefront searches, and you got a number of gift cars from T10 with it.
But yeah, it’s pratically free with the LE. You’re mainly just paying for some extra car packs and some stickers if you got the LE. It’s a bit of a bad deal if you buy the VIP separately though.
Rivals and Free Play - you should use them if you would like to earn credits faster.
I earned well over 6 mil credits ( back when VIP is paid the same amount that current normal is paid.) I bought most of my cars at the 1/2 price sale weekend that is about the same cost of the cars cost now. (about)- 3mill for the '62 GTO- 1.5 mil for 2 Indy cars(3mil total), not to mention almost every car that was needed for career (minus a few muscle cars) and Zonda that was over a mill, a V8supercar, a R18 (2.5mil), 787B ( over 2 mil) every GT race car (1.25 mil apiece) …etc. I never was hurting for credits- just wanted more cars than I needed to have. I had over 50 cars right after the dec half price sale. (and yes as tier 6 I got 6mil, but I got over 12mil credits now so for all intentions I still have that in my bank) putting in laps on the track you like to race or want to learn with minimal menu time - earns plenty of credits. I paid for a 5.8 mil credit care full price.
So I would say VIP to the now new standard is pretty even steven-
33-35k per level up ( I don’t remember pre update it was in the low 30’s) - and the cars prices are very similar post update compared to when I purchase them on Half price sale weekend-
the OP just needs to utilize some of the other features to get credits, and personally racing and hotlapping isn’t grinding for me until I reach my limit and I’m struggling for the tenth, for an 50+ laps… the I just change cars/ change tracks ( maybe)/ change class and repeat. Free play 25-50 laps with 15 other cars on the track- lapping as if your running an endurance race, passing cleanly is fun.
I wonder what the percentage bonus the OP is running? This is more than likely another impact to credits earned. A good tune Sclass and lower car on long Free plays in lower classes (D-S) should be an EASY pro or un beatable drivatars (50-65%) 25 laps gives you plenty of time to pass. and you more than likely will lap most of the field multiple times. Assists for me are 40-55% (pending track/and or car). Affinty is what it is pending on the manufacturer that your using can be as much as 25%- and if your “grinding” for credits why wouldn’t you use a higher percentage.
Just imagine what it was like to shell 5.8 mil for a car.
The tier system is something entirely different and discussed on multiple threads.
I think you earn too many credits in the game as it is. Getting that special car should be an event, not a casual thing. At the moment whenever I start a new league, I can just buy whatever I feel like. Getting a new car, and being able to race a certain league should be something you nee to work for. But that’s just me I suppose.
I understand people have this opinion and I respect it. I just think this is the huge minority. Most people don’t have the time to spend struggling to get a new car that they NEED to progress through the game (career mode) let alone not have money to buy the cars they actually WANT to own. It’s tough when you need to choose between the cars you want to own and the cars you need to own. And if you have to buy a 1mil car for career and will never use it again, you can’t sell it.
I understand most people on these forums probably agree with this post that earning credits is too easy - that’s because most of the people on these forums are hardcore Forza/gamers. The reality is that most of the people playing this game are casual gamers that probably don’t even know about these forums or rewards for that matter because heaven forbid Turn10 actually put something in the game and/or packaging referring people here and to the free rewards site. Maybe an in-game message?
Personally I have never been a big fan of racing games, especially simulations. But when I saw the previews for this game, I knew I had to pick it up. I bought 8 games with my Xbox One (10 if you count Powerstar and Killer Instinct) and this is by far the game I have played the most. I got hooked. My OCD kicked in. But now I feel the “grind”…and it feels more like work.
Its very easy to earn money and I’m sure that even the most casual of player could figure it out GOOGLE/YOUTUBE. get your fastest car and drive in circles a lot.
The time struggling to get this or that car argument is invalid as you can buy with real money any car in the game. That argument and peoples sheer laziness to actually play any game thru has lead to mircotransactions in almost every game and it only going to get worse. Lazy and impatient people have ruined the way games work, does anybody remember when you had to play a game to win and could not buy the best of the best and just walk thru the game.
I would highly suggest not buying car with tokens because i believe that economy is broken no way someone should be paying $20 worth of in game tokens for a car.
Except for horizon maybe (some point to point streetraces gave you like 100k in one run) it has never been as easy to earn credits as it is in forza 5, I started playing on December 23rd (after having waited for my second xbox from amazon as the first got damaged by dhl during international shipment for three weeks) and have earned around 55million since, its really easy to earn credits as the others have said, the OP must be doing something wrong - just try the methods described by others
Take advantage of Rivals and Free Play. You are severely limiting your credit earning potential if you only play career mode.
Tier points are based on you completing different functions within the games. It’s not really a “timed” thing. Go to your rewards and look at what you can do to increase your tier points to get to the next level. A lot of times you can complete those items really quick and get a good boost for your rewards tier.
I don’t want to sound like a jerk at all with this next statement, but I think you just need to learn the in’s and out’s of the game/rewards system. There is so many ways to get credits in Forza 5, you just have to know which ones work best for you.
With VIP status, credits are a non-issue. In career mode, I spent about 700k on a car to do a series in the Exotic category. By the end of championship series, I had made over 700k more than paying for the car. If I did not have VIP status, I still would have made in the range of 400k to 500k still making the car very reasonable in price. So, I don’t really think the in game currency is a problem with everything readjusted.
One big thing to remember is that the per-race payout and XP to next level is dependent on distance driven. So, what I have found is that I make money way faster when using faster cars because I travel over a greater distance in a faster time. So, if you want that Indy car, save up for it. Do all of the career Indy races and after that series, I would guarantee you’ve made a big chunk of credits back.
Nope. It is pretty easy to earn the credits so they don’t need a fix. Now granted I have VIP so I earn double but I have not been able to put a lot of time into the game. Right now I have about 33 cars and close to 4million. So far in career I have only made it through D, C and B series with som B’s not yet gold. I did one of the Hot Hatch series again not all gold. I forget what level I am at but it is not too high. So again no what you earn does not need fixing that has already been adjusted from launch. The game would have been better with a functioning auction house so you could possibly get a better deal on cars.
