How do we reach the devs? Boycott?

Anyway the game runs on pcs and Xbox series not on YouTube… I’m playing with wheel (Ts-Xw) and I can confirm the force feedback is a big step ahead from FM7, I have 26 hours hours of played and even if i’m not having all modes and all track from FM7 yet I’m having a blast cause the gameplay is fantastic!

Wait so the popup of race difficulty from horizon is now in Motorsport? Nobody genuinely wants that

The first thing I felt was “Is this a beta?” The graphics look absolutely subpar, especially next to GT7. They had how many years to develop this? Super janky presentation, especially the way you need to grind EACH INDIVIDUAL CAR. This is untenable. Turn 10, what happened to you?

Speaking from industry experience, boycotts typically don’t work.

Even if everybody on this forum agreed to refund and never play the game, that’s still likely less than 1% of the people playing.

We don’t know how well Forza Motorsport will do but Forza Horizon 5 has 33 million players across its lifetime.

A relative handful of people aren’t going to change the entire design direction of a AAA title, one which already has a large chunk of its next 6-12 months of work mapped out in JIRA tickets.

A wise person said a little while back (sorry I can’t find the source, but it was a prominent journalist/creator) that “you can’t change the world, but you can change your world”.

If a game or product isn’t meeting your personal standards, you’re free to step away from it until such time that it improves to the point where it’s worth your attention again.

No single, dozen or ten thousand strong selection of people is going to have enough inertia to change the entire course of a game’s development, especially when said people often can’t agree on what direction a game should go in anyway.

I am sure Turn 10 are reading everything posted on this forum (Max does a good job at relaying it all, no doubt), and where there is capacity to do so, things can and will improve. Look at Forza Horizon 5 and how the last year or so of updates have been great. Just don’t expect the entire game to change, but perhaps some quality of life improvements and additions are due and I’m sure we’ll see some in the coming months.

What do they define as “players”? That number comes up a lot, but how many of those players went further than the intro screen or initial races?

That’s not true. Video game developers listen to and change course for relative handfuls of people all of the time. It’s just that those relative handfuls of people have YouTube channels, Instagram and Twitter accounts, and are often reached out to by said developers to help promote and drive business towards their product. Activision, EA, and Ubisoft do it all the time, to the benefit - but usually more often detriment - of everyone who doesn’t have that capability to influence.

It’s more like six months, and even those updates have been pretty spotty and mixed, brushing up occasionally against being brilliant but often retreating into their safe, comfortable harbor of offroading excess and incessant chores. That game needs to take strides and steps that I can’t see them ever doing, especially when they can rely on their community to fill in the blanks for them through EventLab.

Turn 10 and Motorsport does not need to be following in Playground Games and Horizon’s footsteps, but they’re doing so, and that’s a problem.

The kind of person I was referencing right here.
The game could have taken 25 years and they would still blame the vague higher ups for rushing it. As if theres no reasonable expectations that should be set on a project, whether you’re in a contract, or its your boss. In this case. They had more than enough time + + + + +. The game was delayed internally for at least 3 years that we know of. But again. Devs are never responsible for the quality of work they put out, no matter if they have all the time, money, and manpower in the world.

T10 should’ve been more open about the state of many features.

Imho the AI is the biggest elefant in the room. Instead of praise from Chris Esaki he should’ve been honest and admit it’s in a poor state that shall improve once “machine learning” kicks in. It’s the same crap as always.
2-3 lead AI on strong pace that die off once overtaken, useless field, unnecessary aggressive constantly brake-checking or pushing from behind. Combined with the FRR approach of the title the AI is an embarrassment.

The whole upgrade/tuning section is bad offering way too less transparency. Spider graphs do not work if the foundation is still the old PI system, T10! Values increase, decrease or do not move at all due to the same old issues (gearing isn’t considered, Forza aero alters braking/handling numbers more than it actually does, fine-tuning brakes results in “NA” values and so on).

Car leveling might be a progression feature for Career Mode but given the 500+ cars it’s just to excessive. Everyone saw this coming miles away!

Outside of this grind the game hasn’t much meat on the bones. “Live service” career after the small Career, no oldschool class hoppers in MP, no custom MP with AI.

Outdated car models that ouze Xbox 360.

Graphical & performance issues that should be the easiest ones to fix.

I agree with a lot of this comment and I’m enjoying the game, but I just want to clarify: when people say “outdated models,” they’re referring to 3D car models and textures which are not up to spec with the current generation’s technology. Think old-school Lara Croft versus the new, significantly more realistic-looking character models. Obviously nothing in this game looks as dated as Lara Croft in 1996, but some cars definitely appear to be modeled with lower-resolution meshes and textures.

It isn’t that older cars shouldn’t be in the game. It’s that they should be modeled with the same fidelity as cars which were newly scanned just for this title.

There is but the spider graph does not react to it. And everything in the car upgrade system is focused on this stupid graph.
It might show a 5.7 for speed but since the gearing isn’t reflected the real value (km/h mp/h) could be anything.
Flaws like this are as old as the series. That’s why raw numbers (actual top speed, lateral g and so on) are the reliable ones. They should be prominently displayed, not a graph which is based on a flawed system.
I mean, there are engine swaps without the possibility to look at the power/torgue graph. Without extensive meta knowledge of Forza as a whole there is no way to know which engine is better.

A complex system like upgrade/tuning should become more transparent, not the contrary.

Boycotts would work if boycotts were actually done - but yes, as you noted, getting enough people to actually be part of a boycott is a pipe-dream.

Other wise people have also said:
What you put up with, you end up with.
What you accept is what to expect.
What you tolerate, you perpetuate.
What you permit, you promote.

It’s become so common for games to launch badly that most people just accept it, and many even praise & defend it - showing that standards across the board have plummeted so low that rock-bottom is a step up.

…So, as we’ve repeatedly seen, quality only continues getting worse when we don’t collectively hold anything accountable to higher standards.

After this company has been working on this same series for more than 18 years, things should have improved much more than this by now.

Long-time fans of the series (& of the genre) have already waited years only for the “wait & see if it improves” clock to be reset back to zero again.

Instead of making leaps & bounds forward, it’s again one small step forward with many big steps backward.
…and that common pattern disproves the idea that “things will improve.”

Is more like it was created for Horizon and is now part of Motorsport too. Numbers are hidden behind buttonpresses to have clean ui. In Horizon the numbers are more prominent. Wrong people doing wrong job  Way too many buttonpresses in general

To see these numbers it needs 3 extra interactions

Then to refresh these numbers (simulated) u have to install the part it doesnt update like the others without installing so it’s 1+ extra interactions and u have to remember what was installed before

Hm.
The thing here is, I saw very positive behaviour, but also what you described.
I had some very close and intense battles with the AI, but also moments were I thought “what?”.
The most noticeable thing I experience quite often is they leaving the track quite often, sometimes even multiple at the same time and place.
At turn 2 on Homestead Miami and after the chicane at eaglerock for example.

Brake checking, if it doesn’t happen too often, is normal.
Do you expect never to get touched on turn 1 at the start when everything is crowded?
Happens here and there and I never got punished for that, because it’s not my fault.
Maybe I was just lucky, but didn’t experienced that for now.

But the AI actively tries to avoid contact in battle, but also refuses to brake early, even if it would be the only chance to avoid leaving the track, wich results in battles I win on the inside of a corner, while the AI on the outside avoids me and runs out of track.
Pretty funny, but happens pretty often.

Not sure about the AI being terrible or not, guess there is always room for improvements.

Get what you are saying. But FM 8 feels like FM5 when it was released.

A new GFX engine with an unfinished Forza attached to it.

I primary just play GT class online. I haven’t even bothered with solo career. Have zero interest in it.

So spend all the time on GT lobby.

And it’s broken. In a sense it’s just rushed and with odd ball decisions on what is and isn’t enabled… no damage …

And a complete balls up with the track rotation. Plus random weather and time progression isn’t enabled.,

It just stinks of T10 rushing to get something out for launch that hasn’t been play tested at all

Thanks for explaining a bit.

Reading further in this thread even more confirms it was rushed out of necessity.

  • spreadsheet guys giving order and a date

What some say about upgrading and not seing things to compare engines and stuff even more tells same story.

No “polishing” phase was there for this game.

If I would have purchased I would for my own health just relax and realize the facts.

  • surely there will be updates running a couple a week or something
  • probably one before tuesday when big crowd play

“Second, caling other blinds wont fix anything, it only shows that you are uncapablle to listen to others and respect opinions that dont agree with yours, not just it, not mentioning the lack of respect with people with disabilities”

LOL he isn’t calling people blind, he IS literally legally blind lmao. You can tell because he said: " I as a blind gamer love somethings they have done and hate others."
