I have been able to sync every other game that I have.
I am unable to play FH2 as I am stuck on the syncing data fro Forza Horizon 2… I have not even moved to 1% yet.
I have tried everything that has been stated on this thread and still no go.
I have figured it out disconnect your console from the internet, load horizon, select offline, it will then load, do a few races and then connect to the Internet, go back to game play until you unlock car meets then you can go online and finally restart your game it may have to sync one last time but it will load right up and the problem is fixed that’s what worked for me #SnowThaGamer
Well I did SnowThaGamer’s method and unfortunately it did not work. I lost everything and I am currently restarting the Single player mode beggining to finish trying to earn all my cars/stats again. The best of luck to anyone else having this problem hopefully you find a better solution instead of being out of luck like me 
I have the same problem except there isnt even a progress bar for my download, its just stuck on “Syncing data for Horizon 2”

so i am huge forza fan but also gamer. playing witcher 3 atm having couple of issues, searched and found clear local files was a good opinion fixed the problem and now i cant sync any games forza H2! gets to 79%, goes to a “We were unable to sync your data with cloud just now” 80003005
HELP?
Note to everyone dont trust cloud.

Horizon 2 is the worst game in history to sync.
I’m honestly waiting for more than an hour already for the game to complete the sync. And I swear that I don’t lie and not exaggerate!
I’m really waiting for more than 60minutes for the game to sync and that with a download speed of 100mb/s.
It is a complete insolence to put players through this. I mean how can that even happen to a team like Turn10? Why aren’t they fixing it? Seriously, more than 60minutes to sync a single game. I just need a couple of seconds to sync games like GTA V or The Elder Scrolls Online, games that have a much bigger open world and a lot more to generate.
I’m really enraged that I have to throw away more than an hour (so far, I don’t even know how long it will continue to sync) of my life time with waiting to play a game that already destroyed my save file with more than 100hours spent on. I don’t even know why I still keep trying with this game…

I have the same problem. I deleted my profile and redownloaded it and lost all my game saves. Now i cant sync anything. Pretty much lost all progress in every game because the syncing does not work
I had this issue just now after deleting my profile, performing several hard resets, and disconnecting and reconnecting my network. What happened for me:
Started game.
Pressed A to start.
Sync screen popped up.
No percentage change. Just a white flash moving across the percentage bar.
It stayed this way for 30 minutes.
I pressed the Xbox home button.
I went to achievements.
All my achievements were still visible.
I clicked on the FH2 icon.
Same thing as above with no progression change.
I pressed XBox home button again.
Went to friends.
Selected compare games using a friend with FH2.
Selected FH2.
I saw the progression comparison between us.
I hit the XBox home key again.
Selected FH2 icon.
This time it showed 20% and was moving.
It’s EXTREMELY slow but it is moving.
It’s at 61% currently. Hopefully it does not get stuck at all.
If it gets stuck at 99% I will use friend comparison again and see if that helps.
Sync was stuck at 61% for quite some time. Opening achievement app didnt work anymore. Opening the trueachievement.com app and selecting my Forza 3 game profile triggered movement again until 83% where I got a failed to sync error notice.
I clicked try again and was not getting any movement on the status bar after a couple minutes. I used the xbox home button and selection the trueachievement.com app again but this time I went to my Forza 4 game profile. This triggered trueachievement.com data sync. When I went back to FH2 using Xbox home key the progress bar was at 12% and moving fairly quickly. Every 3 minutes or so I would hit the XBox home button open trueachievements.com then hit the home button again and select FH2. I kept repeating tjis and it got to 95%. It reported the sync failed but it loaded FH2.
It appears the sync completed even though it rwported failure because I was in the car I last drove, my stats are accurate as far as I can tell an, my money is right. I am not sure if I am missing any cars though.
Jumping to the trueachievement.com app seems to have forced the sync to progress and complete. Lengthy but I hope this helps someone else.
Been having the same problem for the last two days. After coming here last night and reading the comments, I decided to do what snow owl and other have said. Leave it ALONE and let it sync on its own!! Tried everything as mentioned above and nothing worked. Left it alone and in 30 minutes, it was at 100%. Stayed that way for another hour and it finally synced!!! So the best advice to all is to let it do its job.
Have just had the same issue guys, enter the game, press A and leave it, I’ve just done this and after being to annoyed with the game to attempt anything, it’s finally working
While reading this thread (which was very helpful and a relief to know it wasn’t just me) I had it attempting to sync in the back round for the past hour, moving my analog sticks every now and then and it’s currently on 99% but that’s more progress than I had last week
Also, make sure you sync from the cloud not your previous attempts
Ended up going to sleep, left it to do its thing, just woke up and it had come up with an error message, so I quit the game, tried again and it synced within 10 seconds and I’m now sitting in the drivers seat of my cars
Start the sync and walk away guys honestly works

Right I need help I stayed at my brothers house for a few days and wanted to play Forza horizon 2 on my account so I downloaded my account then went to sync my Forza account this is where it all goes wrong it did what it normally does but when it got to 100% it stayed there I left it for three hours then I gave up got home the next day tried to play Forza on my account I had lost my level all my cars my progress everything in the progress screen it’s all reset but if I go through a speed trap or do a skill train it pops up at the bottom of the screen with all my old high scores etc but I have nothing now how do I get my stuff back because I am so annoyed at turn 10 for not helping me with this I just want to play the game like I used to I put so many hours into the game now it’s all gone HELP PLEASE SOMEONE
I found that atleast in my case, I kept pressing try again after it says cant find your latest saved data, eventually it crashed, so I was like, Ok, well then… About 5 minutes later I go back on, and it starts syncing I think, I feel it failing, then it changes to the porsche screen, Im like yes! About an hour later I finally get in… Be patient peeps

M’fraid you’ll just have to keep trying.
You might try clearing up Alternate MAC address and Persistent Storage, along with the fresh boot/hard reset method, but it’s a long shot.
Good luck and keep trying. Mine finally synced after not syncing at all (the screen wouldn’t pop up) for weeks.
Currently having this problem. Went to go on Forza 5 this morning and it looks like i’ve just lost all my data. Absolutely shocking. Put so many hours into Forza 5 all for nothing. You should be able to backup your progress. I think I clicked a game save from when I cancelled my sync and it started a new game asking me to adjust my brightness (didn’t actually play the game though) so I’ve just been screwed. Instead of the cloud backing up my save its just ended up syncing the wrong one, so now I’m pretty sure my cloud save and the one synced with the one on my hard drive are both are fresh saves -_- last time I experienced anything like this was on my PS2 when I turned it off too quickly. This should’nt be happening.
Anyways, since I got screwed over I thought I could still drive my cars on Forza Horizon 2. This game now also needs syncing. Chose my old save this time so I’m not screwed over. Now it’s syncing but stuck on 100%. I better get my save otherwise I will not be happy at all. I didn’t pay 50 quid for a game to then be back to square 1 after 1 year of owning it. In future, Microsoft / Turn 10 should show us the % completion in each of our saves, ive ended up syncing everything with a fresh saves and I can’t go back. Appauling.
Edit: Forza Horizon 2 has synced after being stuck on 100% for about 20mins. Still have all of my data. Don’t even think I’m going to bother getting my Forza 5 save back as I’ve herd loads of horror stories.
On a side note, anyone notice you don’t need Xbox live gold to play online on Forza?
Sync issues with Forza Horizon 2.
So eventually the Xbox asked if I want to use local save (newer) or cloud save from three days back. So I toke the local save.
Well, I don’t understand how but it was empty file. All my 82 hours of progress was gone. So I deleted local save and loaded cloud save.
But it already had sync my 0% progress to cloud. So that is how I lost my save game.
If only there was a way to restore old cloud save. I mean you or xbox support could delete the latest cloud save and replace it with older one.
I mean it is the cloud. Nothing should be forever lost. The data is out there.

just started to have the same problem myself.
And with forza 5
it eventually worked horizon still isn’t.
if it wont sync, then that’s the end of my relationship with the xbox one. (nothing but trouble)
which is a shame, because im looking forward to forza 6, but its so temperamental
now I prefer my xobx to my playstation, but is so much more easy to use, and it just works.
