Syncing Data for Forza Horizon 2..... Stuck on Main Menu

So I love the game, we played frmo tuesday till saturday night. Then on sunday we went to play and all of a sudden all our vehicles are gone. So I go to reisntall and now it is jus stuck at the main menu saying “Syncing data for Forza Horizon 2”, it sits there for ages and then freezes. PLEASE HELP! I love this game but this issue is annoying! I have tried everything, erasing the games save files, doing a hard reset,etc… and nothing works. Anyone else having this issue the last few days? We can’t even get the bloody game to work! Keeps trying to get my save file from the cloud and then it sits there for hours or freezes. This is really annoying! I even started a brand new game so I have a save file on the cloud and one on my console and neither way works. We tried on my friends account with a new game and it started up but then froze 3 times last night.

mine has started doing exactly the same thing it was fine this morning when I went out I came home went to play the game and it just stays on the syncing screen not ideal since all of us have just paid £45 for it its been freezing in game for me as well and the graphics and sound glitch every now and then they need to sort it quick otherwise its gonna get traded in for something that works

My game has just done the same thing it froze so I reloaded and now ive got no cars inmay garage and its saying ive not done any of the main races when I only had 3 to do. Ive put a lot of time into this game so this needs to be addressed as i cant do anything it just sends me to a car meet.

im stuck when you first start the game and its just looking at all the cars like the huerican and p1 and it just sys loading please wait

I had the same problem but fixed it. yesterday was on xbox downstairs on wifi and stuck on sync so gave up even tho deleted data from upstairs xbox. tried now upstairs via wire im on fiber. nothing happened. I pressed the home button and without quitting the game went straight back in. it started to sync but need patience 15 mins got me to 57% I think its at their end the problem but still works with patience. anytime I thought it froze I hit home then back into game again. got to 100% didn’t seem to work it stuck. I quit game relaunched and sync was on for split second and I was in. hope this helps.

I got same problem, is there nothing to fix that problem? Gah serious i like to smash my Xbox one EVERY TIME i see that unlimited loading together with sync :s i have waited for 2hours and still loading :s and also its 3th day i cannot play :s

The game is actually syncing, it simply freezes. Does your entire console freeze, or can you still dashboard? The game should have NO reason to sync unless you are away from your primary Xbox and have made progress elsewhere. If you only play on your console, the game never syncs back to your console. It stores everything locally and keeps a back up in the cloud.

Two, I might start by trying to clear your console cache and do a full power cycle. Turn off like clearing cache, unplug power cable from back, hold power button for ten seconds, wait about a minute. Plug the power back in and boot up. If you have been away from your console and are getting a sync issue, you could try deleting your CONSOLE save data ONLY! I didn’t have to do this, but other’s have and Xbox Support will tell you to. You may also try removing your gamertag from the console and adding it again. Again, Xbox Support will tell you to, even though it’s probably unnecessary.

If you can dashboard, do so and the syncing banner should disappear. If it does not, hit menu scroll until you see your cursor on the first visible green option, then go up one and hit A. Now wait until the banner disappears and the game quits. Go to FH2 and Manage games. Check to see if there is any save data for your game and how large the file is. My save data is close to 35 - 40 MB.

Now, start the game up again. While you still have control there are a couple options you can try.

A) Hit A to cancel sync, and when the confirm message appears, hit “Keep syncing”

B) Let the syncing banner appear and the white line to travel three or four times across. [I’ve found mine froze on the fifth time almost every time.] Before it freezes dashboard, then re-enter the game. This will make the banner reappear and appear to start over. That’s not the case, your data is still syncing, we have simply prevented the process from freezing the game.

I found, after sitting on Xbox Support chat for around an hour and a half that eventually, the game loaded just fine without the sync and everything was there. The second time, returning to my primary console, it froze on me so I waited a couple minutes. Then I dashboarded, quit the game using step B, and started it up again. Guess what, no sync menu, went right in and everything was there.

FH2 has a massive file size compared to other games which may be part of the issue. Most [cloud] save files are 6 to 8 MB, and FH2 is easily five times the size. Unlike previous titles were you would see a separate file for your save, layers, paints, and tunes in FM5 and FH2 everything is lumped into one massive file. The Xbox One is supposed to seamlessly sync your data and complete gameplay experience with the cloud so it’s strange that it struggles with these large files. Unfortunately, with the way it’s set up I don’t think the developers can or want to make the save into 5 smaller pieces again. The issue seems to be a console infrastructure problem. I’ve written both Turn10 and Microsoft about it. I know I won’t get a response, but hopefully this helps you all out.

I think it is dangerous to assume this applies to all situations.

Trivia - even if the progress bar stops moving it can still be syncing. Brand new console. Syncing progress appeared to stop. After 10 minutes I chose to cancel. It went into the game but half my paints were missing. I restarted and it started resyncing again. Once again the progress bar stopped moving. Quite a while later it finished and went into the game. This time everything was there.

I suggest never cancel the sync. Always leave it. If it says faield to sync then deal with it. If it says nothing leave it to do its thing.

I been playing this game since release without a problem, until today. I’ve got this same problem. I was playing with no problems yesterday and now I can’t even play a game I paid for! Glad to see I’m not the only one with the problem, obviously not us. It’s the game with the problem.

I’ve also had this problem, since Saturday night. So angry, put so many hours into this game, love it, then this happens.

Syncs for like 5 minutes, then says ‘Loading Error. An Error has occurred, please try again later.’

WE NEED A FIX! PLEASE! My favourite game out, and I can’t play it!

Your issue is that you are not letting it finish syncing.

When you delete your gamertag you also delete all local saves so they need to fully resync. For Forza games this takes a long time. It will look like it has stopped doing anything, it will look like it has frozen but it has not stopped.

You need to let it sync and leave it until it finishes. It is not something that takes just minutes - it can take an hour or more. I did it with Forza 5 - you just need to let it get it done. Do not do anything else on the console either - leave it on the screen where it says it is syncing and do not touch it until it has loaded you into the game and you are sitting at a car meet.

Never, ever stop a syncing process - let it do its thing and only do something if an error message comes up on screen.
