For a franchise doomed

I’ve loved the forza games since f2. But its clear to me after half a year of xbox one the franchise is doomed. Its no coincidence all my xboxone friends no longer play the game, compared to december when everyone of my buds were on. Forza has destroyed the concept of simulation by creating meaningless currency, no consequences, no poor marketplace, and scaling back the forzavista. Anyone else wonder about the ability of the franchise to revolutionize the race sim industry again? My bet: sales fail to keep up against competitors as years pass

GameRankings and Metacritic review aggregators also show a steady decline from 93% positive FM1 to 80% FM5.

“Doomed” is kind of a flexible term. Forza could last another 10 years or another 2. I’m hoping it lasts another 10 or more. Meanwhile, I’ll enjoy playing FM5 and look forward to the next Turn 10 title on XBox 1.

This is a matter of opinion. Which I disagree with. I am still enjoying Forza 5 and I don’t believe it is doomed either. To say that after it’s only been out 6 or 7 months is rediculous. It’s a new console, new technology. The game had to be made specifically for the xbox one. Many have still yet to buy an xbox one, some can’t afford it and some aren’t interested.

I don’t see any better racing games out for any console or for the PC either for that matter.

I agree, at that’s not because it’s the only one. For me it’s a fabulous game.

Forza isn’t doomed (yet) but when project cars comes out I think this will be left for dead until forza 6 is released. Unless turn 10 can quickly make some improvements to forza 5 i think most people will fade away from it

Its starting to look that way.
My team has been going since forza 2 and has around 40 members. With the execption of myself they seem to have lost interest in forza 5. Granted only 10-15 own it but they hardly ever play now.

Just take a look a the leaderboard, all the usuall names are missing. Iv been playing over 9 years and got to know these names .

Its looking like an end of a generation. When ever i go into a lobby these names are not there also. They have been replaced with “snipertotheface2004” this is forzas current generation of players and now t10s target market. They will be guns on the cars next and people 360 no-scoping for the lead.

The hardcore have left. Fact

I guess I’m one of the oddballs who feels this is the best Forza yet. Sure I wish there were more tracks, hopefully they’re on the way. I raced all morning online in the GT lobby with full grids of fantastic drivers. Completely full grids. I have no complaints with Turn 10. As KILL3RCURTIS said, they were under a insanely short time frame to get the game completed for the console release. I don’t think Turn 10 has had the chance to fully explore the capabilities of the XBox One, but we know they are working on the game and making improvements all the time. I’ll think they’ll step up to the challenge of Project Cars. Personally, I’ve only seen PC footage of Project Cars. I’m not trying to sound like a jerk or anything, but if there is XBox One or even PS4 footage please share a link because I honestly havent seen it. I also feel the hardcore are still around. Times change, people change, priority’s change. New faces (gamer tags) are a good thing. This is just my opinion of course, to each their own, so I’m feeling a lot more Forza to come.

I have my criticisms of FM5 but I think the franchise is far from “doomed”.

The Xbox One doesn’t have a large user base yet, nor does it have a whole lot of games.

Forza 5 has its issues but a lot can be attributed to the constraints necessary to get it out at launch.

I think Turn 10 knows what they want for the franchise and just weren’t capable of delivering that at the time. It’s not doomed by any stretch of the imagination.

To say it’s doomed is beyond me, you have to look at it from this perspective in look at what they did in the short amount of time they had which is amazing, I don’t get why people are complaining when simply Forza Motorsport 3 was the same way with less cars and less tracks and what do you know, Forza Motorsport 4 bounce back with more cars, more tracks and more features.

Yeah… forza is obviously beyond the point of no return right?
Clearly doomed. Just like CoD when Titanfall was going to be released… Cod was doomed then right? Oh… wait… there’s no decent alternatives to Forza on the same console…

While sarcasm is a great defense, and comparing apples to oranges always works… I would argue that forza lost an opportunity to expand its fan base. Now there are less people getting on evry day from what I’ve seen in lobbies the last few months. Furthermore, there will continue to be less players on because the game is lacking compared to its predecessors. There isnt even an incentive to stay necause the econmy in game is fundamentally flawed. Of course they will make more titles to come (while its profitable), but as fans of the game leave and lose faith in the brand the company will fade to obscurity. Or another rival will take over its fan base. The fact that it took the market place 6 months to release should be a warning to all that would use their emotional based arguments to doubt. (See above passionate defenses who ignore writing onthe wall) Turn10 is done improving this game. New cars sure… but only cause they can makea quick profit. But the greater audience has already left, and turn10 is probably looking at their next (hopefully better but probably not) title/paycheck. Its a business… what do you expect?

The fella far left looks like the irish actor who plays the barber in the “gangs of new york”. Cant remember his name but thats him for sure.

The simply ignored the players when they made this game, its all about in game money making these days but its not just forza, all games are now holding back content with the purpose of selling it as an add on which in the past would have been included in the release and add on stuff would have been extras.

Forza should have progressed from singe player racer to full blown online racing sim, it was an easy process to make, each year they could have made it more easier to create and run your own series, meaning you could have qually sessions and races set using this qually session rather than having to drive around getting yourself into position so you have a correct grid to race, the party system microsoft game them also does not help,to this second im not sure how they mucked up something they had working on the 360 but the XB1 is terrible for online gamers, it is designed for the sit at home all day person that spends 24/7 of his time player single player games or watching tv, why else would they build a console with the ability to switch between tv and gaming quickly, its so fat boy doesnt miss a pizza advert, lol

sadly i fear gaming as we used to know it is dead, its now all about the cash, if it makes them money they will make it so dlc car packs and tracks will feature more and it wont be long before you have to pay for designs and tuning.

For those that do not believe look at Fifa, Ultimate team gets there full attention due to the money it makes, Clubs has been broken for ages yet no fixes and yet the continue to make sure UT works and has updates.

soon you will buy the basic games and anything you want will be paid for…looks like i might have to by a wii,lol

G-Zus! This forum should have a counter…DAYS SINCE LAST DOOM & GLOOM COMPLAINT THREAD.

Somehow I doubt the counter would ever get higher than around 3-4 days. Honestly, there are faults with this game, I am the first to admit that but we have already talked about them until we were blue in the face. Isn’t it enough by now. After all it’s only been what? 7 months!
