Driver Gear - character customization feature

Driver Gear in FM7 (updated November 2018)

Driver Gear is the character customization feature in FM7. You can enter this menu from the Home tab or from pre-race options. You can switch gear as often as you like, and switch the gender for each suit. Your gear will be noticeable in lobbies and during races by other players. Suits are unlocked via random Milestone Reward option, as Rewards from Forza Drivers Cup career progress or special Rivals, Leagues, or Forzathon events, and from the Race Shop random sets since November 2018 (which replaced Prize Crates).
Notes:

  • See the lower right corner of the screen to toggle male/female body styles for each suit.
  • There are seven basic helmet styles, some with additional textures for themed costumes.
  • There are no suits that show faces (as seen with FH3 character choices).
  • Helmets and suits are a set; mixing isn’t featured, and players can’t paint them.
  • 36 Country flag suits
  • 28 Race Track suits (Brands Hatch, Daytona, Lime Rock, Sonoma are currently not listed)
  • 48+ Car Manufacturer suits (less than the 90+ represented by car models; no explanation or addition date provided)
  • 240+ other themes in Patterns, Team Colors, Pop Culture, and Forza Favorites
  • As of March 2018 additions there are nearly 450 known suits, including over two dozen DLC code suits
  • Loyalty Rewards at launch offered a Forza Motorsport/Horizon-themed suit for each Tier when you start but the revised Loyalty Rewards chart in November 2018 only lists Mod Cards.
See post #4 for images of Hoonigan, VIP, and Retailer pre-order bonus DLC suits, and NorCalNavyMike’s pics for retailer and promo suits.

This has been one thing I have enjoyed about Ride 2 and to see it make its way to Forza is awesome! Hopefully we get real driver helmets and suits like Ride 2 has.

It’d be cool if you could “assign” different characters to different cars, or in other words, have a modern-looking racer when driving a modern car, and one of the vintage-looking racers when driving a vintage race car.

I guess we’ll have to see when more details come out, but I believe this is what they are talking about when they say “loadout screen” before races.

I never really cared for this, but I have always seen people requesting this, so this will please a lot.
I guess it will be nice to be able to choose between Forza and Alpinestars gloves though.

Looking forward to changing the gloves a lot actually…

Do we have an option to choose gender?

Yes

Finally, no more photos ruined by historically out of place outfits and helmets. Woo hoo

You and Hiero… LOL

In-between painstakingly modelling scuffs on visors and the like, have they found time to improve the underlying game or is it just Forza 6 with weather, a few new cars and tracks and character modelling which most people won’t care less about as you can’t see yourself while driving?

Ive seen you complaining in a lot of threads recently and Id like to ask you…What the hell is your problem? We’ll get dynamic weather, driver costumization, actual pitstops (pretty likely) and 4K resolution. What do you want???

This^^^ be happy were getting new stuff and we barely know anything about the game yet!

What do I want? None of those things - they’re icing on a rotten cake. FM6 has serious problems which many people have pointed out again and again, and it falls on deaf ears.

What I want is for the underlying failings to be fixed at last. If nobody complains, they never will be.

I got fooled into buying FM6, I won’t make that mistake with 7. I have paid a lot of money on Forza and have every right to voice my criticisms so long as I’m not breaking any forum rules.

What underlying failings would those be, exactly?

What a great question. Hes talking about those failures but doesnt explain what they are. So please, enlighten us.

You are willing to pay $60 + another $60 or so for DLC, so total $120 for dynamic weather “already in Horizon 3, and base weather already in Forza 6” driver customization “DOES NOT EFFECT GAMEPLAY” and pit stops “again has no impact on gameplay”? Give me your email, I have some oil to sell you. Right from the fangs of a viper, it will cure all your ailments, you can get it for the low price of 159.99 plus tax and shipping!

Seriously I hope you realize no other company gets away with this type of hardcore asset and coding recycling. It is funny stepping back as someone who is completely unbiased and watch people buy the same game every year with dlc’s for the same cars just to be disappointed. If you want experience Forza 7 just go into Forza 6’s first person view and pretend you’re wearing a teletubby outfit and that the rain isn’t leaving because it’s an extra stormy D Y N A M I C day.

What do you want? Are you kidding me… How can that be a serious question? How about: Rally, dirt tracks, drag tracks, actual drag modes with a light tree and burnouts, drifting, drifting tracks, drifting modifications, trucks, baja racing, auto cross tracks, tire decals, window decals, light edcals, light tinting, track width, tire brands, tire width, more tuning options, more camera options, fov sliders, color sliders, new vinyl system that allows matte and metallic colors, point to point tracks, mountain tracks, road racing tracks, city tracks, umm customization?, and an actual story… you know, AN ACTUAL NEW GAME.

^Dear excellent moderators that curate these forums and keep the nonsense away, above is not a wishlist and does not need to be moved, it is a reply to a question that should not be taken out of context. And I mean everything I said genuinely and lightheartedly to cue friendly debate. Thanks.

You made some valid points…little things like being able to change the brake caliper colors, the ability to paint rims with the spokes being matte and the lips being metallic…the ability to actually drop and raise convertible tops on all convertibles…there is always room for improvement!
