Got a Couple Gripes...

First I should say the game looks and plays great, gj at that.

Not so good is the ‘Prize Crate’ system for Driver Gear, something is really wrong with it. For the past month i’ve been buying the 5-pack crate and getting the same stuff over and over… and over… and over. If I see ‘Riveting’ one more time i’m going to equip it, hop in a Bugatti, and ram a wall at 300mph in the hopes the driver will be ejected through the windshield, die, and be deleted from the game. I know, I know, it’s random, but at some point I started seeing something that looked like a pattern, seeing the same stuff over and over again. I’ve got all but 81 (iirc) of the DG, maybe 6 left to get that are common or uncommon (who knew Prorata Yellow would be so hard to get ), so most are super rare or legendary, hard to get… oh look, a ninja suit! AGAIN!!! No joke, i’ve gotten the Band Leader 8-10 times… the GREEN one. Still haven’t gotten the others…

I’m going to save up 50M-CR and buy all 5-packs and write down everything I got, multiples and all… $5 says I get 1 DG I don’t already have, and i wouldn’t be surprised if it was ZERO. Stay tuned.

I’m also collecting all the vehicles, and I gotta say that the current system for locked cars is uncool. Basically a lot of cars are sitting on the back burner with no way to acquire them. (*A couple locked cars, one being the Bugatti Veyron, can be bought from the Milestone Rewards with a discount, but that’s all I’ve run across the last 2-3 months.) Would it have been so hard to make a way to earn al the cars without waiting months and waiting for some special event? Why not have multiple ways to get all the cars? The bottom line of the current system is you may not get all the cars, or even some of the cars you really want, any time soon IF EVER.

*I read the Porsche 911 GT3 RS thread and will weigh in on it here… that was messed up. One group of players shouldn’t get special consideration over the rest of the players, either everyone gets a gift or no one. I’d been wanting the 911 GT3 RS for S-class racing for a long time (and to add to the collection of course), but since I’m not part of the TORA thing I don’t get it and have to hope I get it some other way? Weak. Just weak. Almost as weak as the argument that you can rent it if you don’t own it… you can’t customize the car to your wishes, which is pretty much the major point of this game.

The 911 GT3 RS was just given as a Bounty Hunter prize for anyone who participated.

If you do that, please, share the data with us too. It would be interesting to see the statistics of the crates system.
I did my own statistics in FH3 about the spins, but one moron (I don’t want to name any names :)) forgot to move the excel file to another drive, when he formatted the Win10 partition, where that file was located.

I’ve collected all the cars I can (714). The other 50 remain locked, so I have to wait for special events.
League rewards, Rival rewards and the Specialty Dealer (ha!).

After the 100 DG achievement, I’m not interested in collecting any more suits.

I’m going to sound like a jerk for this, but:

Why does anybody care in the slightest about driver gear, badges, etc? It literally means nothing to me. Nothing. Yet I see post after post about how people are actually spending in-game currency on this stuff. It makes no sense to me.

Is there something to the driver gear/badges/etc that actually matters that I simply haven’t been clued in on?

People like what they like. The same could be said about someone who buys a Porsche Cayman over a base model used Toyota Corolla, or who spends money on a computer/xbox and Forza rather than saving it for retirement. It matters to some people, and doesn’t to others.

That said, as far as I know, there are no in-game perks aside from having the gear or badges. Obtaining them is just a matter of preference.

That’s fair, and quite often “tone” doesn’t come through when read on an internet forum.

It was out of genuine curiosity that I asked the question - since so many people seem to spend in game currency on driver gear and the like, I wondered if there was something to it that added value that I simply didn’t understand.

Sounds like there isn’t, but to each their own.

Yeah, no worries and I figured it was out of curiosity. Hopefully my post didn’t come off as defensive, it was more intended as matter of fact.

You’re right though, there’s nothing to be gained beyond the 100 gear achievement and having them.

When you get them all and you level up you get the choice of 5 very good mod cards instead of the suits. I take these every time I can’t afford the car.

Good point, although it isn’t when you get all of them. Somewhere around 80 or 90%, just like when the cars repeat only. I still have a few older Pop Culture suits missing and have been getting the mod cards for so long I didn’t think about it.

I’m trying to get the mod cards as an option but it seems like there is an endless supply of driver suits as rewards.

Not endless. They will end sooner or later (you can keep track of them in the driver gear collection sub-menu). Just keep choosing the suit as a reward.
By the way, you can easily shorten the waiting by buying the country flags driver gear crates, that are available at the moment, which should give you all the country flag suits. If you get a duplicate, you will get your 12k automatically back (sell value). There are 3 crates (#1, #2, #3), which divide the available countries into 3 subsections (alphabetical order) - makes it easier to chase down the missing suits.

The badges used to mean something. You had to work to get them, it was fun to use after you earned them. Now? I’ve played many hours and have a handful of the findable ones, I’m not even sure how to get them at this point. The suits are a fun idea to me. You actually have a driver now and get to show him or her off. It’s a bit silly but I enjoy changing the suits all the time haha. The badges from day one ticked me off because they not only killed off the car leveling but made the badges useless.

We don’t care about it, we just buy crates because we already got all of the cars :frowning: :frowning: :frowning: !

I guess that’s another thing I don’t understand, is how in the world you guys are getting all this money! I view the in-game currency as gold because I don’t make much despite being VIP. The valuation system for the cars is pretty wild compared to past releases and everything is pretty expensive now. I don’t have hours and hours to play but IMO it seems like the grind is much worse than past games…yet there are tons of people who have “all the cars”.

No but I waste money on crates just because the credits are useless once you have all the cars. Collecting the gear is just something to do. Do I care? Not really but I may as well. Crates or random so yea you get the same stuff over and over obviously. I would not waste money on crates if I was still collecting cars.

These crates have fixed prizes each round.

People may like the driver gear but why then complain about. If the driver gear portion of the game bothers you then don’t participate in that part of the game.
Personally, i think the driver gear is a compelte waste of time and just wish they would get rid of it all. How much of the developers time and effort is put into creating the hundreds of driver gear in the game? This time could have been spent elsewhere. I wish I didn’t have to look at it all the time whilst loading a race.
I can’t imagine it going away though, it seems like it is now part of the Forza experience. Even Gran Turismo has added it too.

It wasn’t seen as developers wasting their time. It was seen as a cash cow. Then Battlefront 2 happened and soured the whole thing. That’s why they were going to add real world credits to buy stuff in game and then went quiet. They may still add in the ability to buy gear with real money, but i doubt it by now.
So in that sense they didn’t see it as a waste. However we all saw it as yet another idea that IS wasted effort. It doesn’t affect the game in any way except the time spent on gear could have been spent making sure the game worked properly.
Which clearly they still haven’t managed.

I got the 911 GT3 RS twice and downloaded it but it never showed up in my garage. Wasn;t surprised at all. I;m getting used to this game
