Loot crates (not that I’m being forced to buy them) … just not needed in a racing game.
Alongside the above…driver gear - another gimmick, could of spent the effort of creating a COD style avatar into other aspects of the game
Menus too crowded, not very intuitive - click left stick in to bring up next track vote? seriously…
Sound is broken, random patches when volume becomes quieter, then blares out louder after every 10-15 mins for a short period
Can’t spectate in a lobby…Endurance GT hopper - who thought it was sensible to have a 40 second timer post race? Ridiculous decision … not to mention the no requirement to have quickstop, thats not endurance racing, now its just a flat out elongated sprint to the finish (unless you damage your car)
Oh and worst of all - the progression system…I shouldn’t have to work for credits let alone “collection tiers” when I’ve paid basically 75 pounds for the Ultimate edition including VIP (which was so handy in FM6 for gaining credits)
Multiplayer it’s a step back from FM6 at least now. Single player it is much better with more choice of what to play if you keep series open when progressing to the next. This way you can go back and pick up ones you missed when you get the cars. The progression system is MUCH better. Getting a car pretty much every time you level increases your collection fast and encourages you to use cars you might have passed over if they are the only one you own for a series. Tiers don’t mean that much. I got Tier 5 in the first weekend.
Ia m calling BS on this yeah get a car everytime you level up i don’t want to race S,X,P and you can’t sell it either and really you have to do all the races !!!
Personally, I think it’s nice to have a decent sense of progression and reward. That’s been missing from the career. This might be the best career mode in the series so far.
I agree but I think it needs some more special events. Throw in a few more showcases here and there, few more autocross and stuff like that and add qualifying and practice, then for me, it’d be close to perfect.
I just want to mention I love the Endurance race mode. However, like the OP mentioned. 45 seconds post race is way to short. 3 minutes might be a better timer length. I know in the races I’ve played in this playlist top 1-5 will finish and 6-24 will DNF. Now on the topic of pitting, I’m not sure if I would like a required pit stop or not. On one side it would be nice because if you total your car you essentially get 1 free pit to repair, but on the other side the races aren’t really long enough to require a pit stop and if you force one, everyone will have fresh tires the entire race. Part of what I like about this lobby is you have to conserve your tires or else you will hate life towards the end of the race.
And cars that are prizes, not just 400k off (or at least that discount should go up each level, not stop at 400k).
I agree with the career mode , its one of the best ones, if a little too short. I quite like the Homologation system too, but for online racing we need both that and the old class system, signs are that’s coming.
Removing the hotlap ability + ghosts, and not being able to filter leaderboards by class as well as homologation ? a step backwards TBH.
I think the homologation absolutely has a place, and is overall a good thing, but I’d agree that the ability to do the old "pick a class, tune a car, and race"way of doing things is badly missed. I race online in a private lobby every week, and we love racing mismatched cars against one another (a pick up, Mini Cooper, and a Ferrari on track all at once is not uncommon). We lose that with division based racing, and even in a private lobby, it’s extra race to set races up by class rather than division.
For now, I have been enjoying the career, doesnt feel short at all when using the long or extra long length in races. And the driving itself is improved very much over fm6, especially with a wheel.
I don’t even have VIP and I think the credit payout is generous enough as it is. I’ve set the campaign races to Long since by default it felt way too short for me and set the AI to Unbeatable and can easily get a lot of credits. Plus, you level up very frequently since the XP required is the same every time and I mostly pick 50k credits over the cars or driver. Reaching Collection Tier 5 is extremely quick, especially if you do the showcases that give you free cars upon completion.
The career is the same check-the-box-from-the-list it has always been. It’s nothing but a series of unrelated races whith nothing at all at stake in any of them, only this time you have to check off these boxes before the game lets you check off the next.
You are right, when you step back and actually look at the career, its just a mismatch of do whatever you want (as long as its a certain class of car for the correct event)
This dude gets it. Career is just a checklist, as per always. They really need to do something about it to make it interesting rather than the grind it is now.
In many ways, FM7 is a hollow shell of FM6. I don’t think there’s really much improved at all - a little bit better FFB, and physics. The “dynamic” weather is slightly more dynamic. There’s now an in-cockpit view with no wheel and hands. These sorts of things are they type of improvements that you usually get in a minor patch for most games, not a whole new title.
That’s pretty much all I can think of that are concrete improvements. Nearly everything else is a step backwards IMHO.
This is a smart way of summing it up for me, I thought this earlier whilst playing the new game. The game is almost a sideways step compared to FM6 - graphically 7 is very impressive, especially on a 4k setup - but otherwise, not much has been done to improve on what made 6 such a strong title
Well, ok, I guess so, but I didn’t list it due to the overall graphics quality having to go down to support 4K. Also, I don’t play in 4K so I forgot about it
