I am becoming more and more frustrated with drivatar behavior. But not with them being unbeatable. I find that to be a challenge. Often an unfair one, since they appear to be using rockets for propulsion and rails for guidance, but challenge nontheless.
What I am bothered with the most, is their erratic driving. I fully expect to crash into, or be crashed by another player, when there is a sharp corner. But the way drivatars drive first few miles after the start, it makes me thing they are having seizures. Unlike the corner problem we, the players, have with each other, there is problem with drivatars on straight parts of the track. They are all over the place. If you are going to drive into someoneās rear end while accelerating on a straight, itās almost certainly going to be a drivatar using entire width of the road to correct ⦠something.
Who, or what, is this driving based on?
I understand devs making drivatars accelerate slower or brake more for a corner, as a way to reduce their difficulty. But what is this left, right, left, right driving supposed to achieve? Am i supposed to believe that they were trying to light their cigarete with the car lighter and it fell between their legs, so now they are in a panic mode, trying to get to it before it burns their nether region?
The trial AI were strange even by their standards this week, 1st race I was in 2nd halfway around the first lap but the one in 1st in a Lola (like Maidoll says not the best car of itās type) was uncatchable, donāt know my 1st lap time but my 2nd + 3rd laps were either side of 1:01 which is a pretty good time for a Classic Racer and I gained practically no ground on the Lola at all.
Then Reservorio? In first before we even went under the bridge and I was well out in front when I left Mulege, set an unspectacular time in the late 2:05ās and the closest AI finished around 10 seconds after me putting them around the 2:15-2:16 mark.
Agreed. Itās nonsensical. I tried S1-900 solo racing the same track for about 15 minutes last night before I gave up and turned the game off. I used a tuned car that consistently gets me in the top 0.0001% for the rivals version of the race. Impossible for me to win on pro mode (not unbeatable mode). Even when I avoided the ramming AI, I couldnāt finish better than 4th or 5th, sometimes 7th. Gaming is supposed to be fun. This game isnāt. The devs have lost the plot.
Your post highlights something the āGet gud!ā crowd doesnāt realize, or care about, and that is all difficulties (below Unbeatable), have been effected by the bugs weāre seeing at the very top.
To recap, those bugs are the AI appears to have infinite acceleration, better launches regardless if players are in AWD, or RWD cars, etc. This means, itās most likely a systemic problem running through the (central?) AI system at all levels and needs addressing. Iāve tested the lower difficulties and while they arenāt as severe as seen in the harder ones⦠I still witnessed runaway Drivatars who separate from the rest of the pack and are going too fast for the type of vehicles theyāre using and/or the course thatās being run.
If these bug were just limited to the Unbeatable difficulty, it may have been acceptable to have them there to provide a āchallengeā to the best drivers in the game⦠But even then, itās not remotely fun in its current iteration, and weād still get criticisms about them being āunbeatableā, but for all the wrong reasons weāve been discussing. And guess what? Theyād have legitimate concerns like everybody else who can see whatās going on and donāt need to just āGet gudā.
I think people are not understanding me. I am saying in some races you get broken Ai. In other races itās fair. In the fair races you cannot bring a knife to a gunfight and expect to win.
But best thing that can happen here is they fix the broken bits so they can then say any remaining difficulty is their intention so it can be judged on a fresh basis.

I think a good game need to use its mechanic and gameplay to teach player āhow to get goodā. Give hints etc.
In the trial it often have a cars restriction.
The game is hiding a āknifeā in car list and it misleading people to use it. (PI or stats or AI running fast with it etc)
In aracde game things are simple. Look at the car price.
but forza didnt work like that.
Yes for old players we know AI are misleading so we dont follow their car choice or speed.
but most of the player dont read this forum. In brings lots of problem in coop PvE races.
I just had to try the colossus to realize how obviously rocket busted are the drivatars. It wont matter how good my driving is, there are always two AIs that speed up in ways i cant even understand, and i was even more annoyed when i realize one of them was a frikkin TRUCK. And there it was, taking corners at hyper speed without even losing traction at all. Amazing. Of course, if a truck is able to do that on corners, and have rocket boosted exhausts, lol, forget about catching it. The other AI was just the batmobile, because i couldnt even see it on the map due to how far it was already.
Then i tried the goliath, and the marathon, piece of cake, sure at the beginning i did struggle a bit to take first positions, but once i did that, my driving skills alowed me to keep pushing distance between the AIs. But no way i can do that in the colossus, for some reason unless i lower the car class to B at least. And still it is tedious as hell. I just dont understand this game.
Iāve always played forza on unbeatable, and I was one of the players that said the ai needed to improve⦠But geez these ai are on a different level now. More aggressive with ramming as you pass, dive bombing corners at speeds they were never going to make. I now have study the track and race before I choose a difficulty. Especially circuit road races I donāt even dare to try it on unbeatable. Same goes for sprint races with a tight first corner as you loose to much time with traffic, while the front runners get a massive lead.
This is something new or I just havenāt noticed it before. AI is trying all the dirty tricks to slow you down. Forza Horizon 5 AI shenanigans 1 (Pro difficulty)
Far out, thats a new one, doesnāt even seem like a computer - thats human behaviour which is kinda scary in a way.
This behaviour is exclusive to H5 from my knowledge, sometimes the AI would swerve and attempt to block you in the trial in FH4 but outside they were fine.
Iāve seen crazy measures from the AI to slow me down, like brake checking me, swerving off the driving line to block me before I get side by side to them and Iāve heard that they divebomb players sometimes but Iāve not experienced this yet.
Yeah have seen this and other strange things too. Its rare but it is there. Sometimes drivatar steers 90deg left/right and goes offroad or stops in middle of road. Its stuff u can see in online mode so if they use real player data to train ai they should clean dataset before
Did you use rewind after the 1st start? Looks to me more of a glitch than AI ācheatingā,in that the cars to the right hadnāt rewound back to their proper start point and so went into reverse on restart.
Donāt normally see reverse lights come on for rewinds - never seen it happen in any races Iāve done yet. Not done a whole load of the off road races (other than the career basics) so could be a thing just not seen it myself.

Iāve had a few races where itād be nice if the AI were going in reverse a bit more. I did get an achievement for beating unbeatables on 6 different tracks the other day though, so was pleased about that.
The car in front of me was reversing before the rewind. I couldnāt believe it and needed to double check, so I used rewind and on second attempt others joined in as well.
I can win on Pro level, but the cars still do 300mph to catch up with you, they just give you more chances to make 2 mistakes. Just tested it, made 2 mistakes, and still won. Goliath/Pro. Got half way round the track was way in front, then they did 300mph, caught up, I went on the grass, but they didnāt pass me. So Pro would be OK as Unbeatable if they changed it.
