This seems to be a recurring issue from forza horizon 3.
The drivatars in this game perform far outside what is capable of their cars. Im sorry but an Audi ttrs will not and cannot out accelerate an agera rs in a straight nor can a stock aventador or a ford focus. Yet the drivatars still can do this just like in fh3. Not only is this annoying but really really unrealistic. Im not claiming to be a amazing driver but come on your telling me i cant out run a focus in the fastest car in the world? Also the drivatars break event rules. Event set to x class yet they are all in s2. This and a recurring issue where in street races where if you are driving a hyper car the ai are all in lower end vehicles. However if you drive an upgraded car like a classic muscle car they drive hyper cars like 40+ pi above you.
TLDR; ai drive their cars outside what the car can ever do and they do not follow event regulations. Street races ai car choice doesnt match what you drive and often is never fair.
Please guys at turn ten im tired of getting out run and out turned in a car that is literally at the top of everything.
Has anybody found the Drivatars EXTREMELY hard to beat on this game? I am not the best racer, nor the worst, but playing agains âNew Racerâ drivatars and finishing 10th-12th on most races (making close to no mistakes) all seasons, all type of events, is this going to change? no point in racing if no matter what, I will be dead last every race. Played every FH game, canât remember this being the case before
You donât understand balance, apparently. Agera isnât the fastest car in Forza world, because then everyone would be driving one online. Thatâs why a lot of cars are capable of reaching 10 in acceleration, not just Agera. Iâm not arguing that the game always matches drivatars fairly, but itâs ok when similar PI cars are competitive and not just automatically outclassed by the Agera, because itâs âfastest car in the worldâ.

I understand that yes but the statistics arent 100% accurate besides the fact that yes the agera may not accelerate that fast to 100 mph compared to awd but i challenge you to make a ford focus or an audi ttrs out accelerate ANY koenigsegg after 150mph, turn faster and brake quicker. Its not possible. Also did i mention my agera rs is you know X class. The ttrs im racing is 982ish and the focus is like 938. Balance isnt a thing in this game otherwise we wouldnt have a 1800+hp aventador. These ai cheat a hatchback is not better than a hyper car sorry. Upgraded or not it can not keep up.
Iâd try changing your car. Some cars in the game simply arenât competitive, while others, particularly the AWD variety, blitz past the competition with ease.
YesâŚthere is something wierd with the drivatars in FH4âŚcompared to 3 or 2.
I find the Street Races to be the most difficult with fast carsâŚthe AI is OP.
Now, I am no pro racerâŚI used the âstandardâ difficulty settings and just change drivatar difficulty. While in most races I manage to win agains Above Average or even Highly Skilled, if I use a certain car class or performance rating, I am having issues even with Average Drivatars.
So farâŚI think that the drivatars in races with high performance rating are overtuned.
Disagree Entirely. I was expecting to come in here and see people complain about the exact opposite, I think they are honestly to easy.
To those struggling try downloading a tune, racing AWD, and start using the guide arrows as suggestions rather than law. I just switched from pro to unbeatable and am having a great time progressing.
Having the same issue. Kind of frustrating if it doesnât matter if you play unbeatable or new racer so I sticked to unbeatable for the extra money.
A buddy of mine was asking me how the game is and I told him I like the game except one thing he can see for himself when I come by later for a gaming session. So after we finished installing FH4 on his console I changed the difficulty to new racer and handed the controller over so he can play and experience it first hand. Couldnât wait to see his face losing on this difficulty tbh. He started a race - finished first - 20-30sec ahead, looked at me and asked, what the problem is? I was like: wth is going on? Took the controller and I immediately had the feeling my car felt different. I drove to the next race and finished it first - no problems at all. Set the settings to expert to get some Forza Points and wheelspins and we could play and enjoy the game the whole night.
Coming back home to my console, I started a race and got wrecked again âŚ
In my situation, the tunings were the exact same. We just installed FH4 on another xbox.
Another thing I noticed at home was the matchmaking system in pvp. I matched a 464 Polaris RZR XP 1000 EPS with my 700 VW Dessert Dingo and I lost. The cars were almost even in speed but he had a far better acceleration. How is this possible? Should the strength of the cars not be equal? Shouldnât I get matched with a 700 car? Or was my car downgrated to stock 438 but still showed up as 700?
I also did not find the drivatars really difficult. I play with âabove averageâ
But for exemple, I tried the âretro muscle carsâ summer seasonal championship and I did not finished first in two of the races. So some cars types/models are not as good as others.
I race unbeatable with no assists. Difficulty multiplier = 115%. Some tracks are more difficult than others, but Iâve finished first on all of them after a little tuning and a little practice. If youâre struggling, race in lower classes, like B, practice, gradually remove assists because assists slow you down, download my tunes because theyâre awd and donât need assists, then when comfortable move up to higher classes.
I am disappointed that once again the devs have bent over to pressure and still insist that manual with clutch is still a faster car and have tied bonus % cash to it once again. Same with TCS and anti-lock brakes. The fastest cars in the world are all automatics these days with TCS and anti-lock brakes and yet the devs still cannot let go of the idea that they are slower. Of course what they will not admit is that they do not pay well for any devs except the ones doing eye candy and the reason there are game-play/AI issues across every iteration of the game is that they never pay the devs that update the base code as well as the art guys. Just once I would love to see a press release for a Forza game that says nothing about the eye candy and talks about all the fixes and updates to the game-play that reflects something other than Jeremy Clarksonâs outdated opinion that a human is faster than a computer when to comes to shifting.
In any case, I was driving on average just for the lower hassle but the summer series had to bump up to highly skilled. The races took a few tries but changing which off-road buggy I used made a huge difference. I have not tried the FH3 trick yet of starting a race at new racer, then restart and change the difficulty to want you really want. In FH3 this broke the AI and they raced at new racer ease while you got credit for racing at pro or unbeatable. I did it for every goliath race and it worked like a charm to grind cash and levels.
This argument is nonsensical; the bonus has nothing to do with fast vs slow, it has to do with difficulty.
Turning off assists doesnât necessarily make you faster or slower, but it makes the game harder. Can you go faster with clutch? Maybe, maybe not. But it definitely makes the game harder, as the clutch is one more thing to manage than with regular manual, and certainly more than automatic. Same for TC and ABS. Try driving an Agera RS without TC and beating your own laptime with TC turned on. I think youâll find it much harder without TC. That is why there is a bonus attached to disabling it.
The fastest cars in the world use TC/ABS because it allows them to drive faster, more easily. It only makes sense that disabling them makes it harder, and thus should provide a bonus for difficulty in the game.
As far as automatic vs manual: what fastest car / race series uses automatic? Paddle shifters and no-clutch, sure, but automatic?
I get the impression that you want to have all the assists turned on and also want maximum payout. Is that all this is?
I had the opposite experience. Usually in lesser FH or FM, there 's one dudeâs avatar on my friends list whoâs always miles ahead of everybody else by the time Iâve caught up with second place. This time, heâs always near the mid-pack. And since upping the difficulty, the avatar seems to be falling back. Used to be P5âish while by now heâs always finishing P11âish.
Only thing changed from my side is using a steering wheel with TCS/ABS off and manual (no clutch yet).
Street races are pretty âeasyâ â I used the Lambo Huracan and have won all but one. That track was a power circuit and my lambo has been slightly tuned for less speed and more acceleration. The lambo is very awesome to drive.
Came here to post almost the same. The difficulty levels are ridiculous. The drivatars never make a mistake and plough ahead. Iâve had to set the difficulty to âAbove Averageâ and just barely win without making a single mistake during a race. Take mate matters worse, I get teased with the âyou are winning the races, try increasing the difficultyâ message. Yeah right.
I thought âThe Crew 2â had unfair AIâŚ
I completlely agree. In street races especially, the drivatars are just spaceships.
Also, all of my street races have been filled with Audi TTs and Ford focuses. And because probably their stats are bumped to match my Senna, they are flying around. There must be something wrong with how they are getting the drivatar data, I honestly hate playing against those cars over and over again.
That seasonal Derwent Sprint. Has any team ever beat the AI? Not a chance.
Seems Playground Games have concentrated too much on making a lovely looking game and completely overlooked the AI.
It doesnât matter your settings or level of skill it seems. I come from FM7 and I play that without any assists. The only things I use are normal steering (controller), auto-trans (same reason),FP Only and only set the drivers to pro. That said⌠FM7 race tuning actually gives you the power to play against cars in your class, weight, power, etc⌠(IE:Consistently better races)
All of that just makes every issue the OP brought up about the AI and cars in FH4 even MORE glaring.
Those of you trying to fine tune (what a joke in FH4) their races through settings will see how the varying levels of AI will: Start off the race fast and steady, pull back at 60% to give you a window (this window changes in length and distance to the end of the race based on your difficulty choice), then they will try to chase you down again to the finish. Hit the window and pass the leader and you win, miss it and you will never, ever, ever get another chance to pass⌠Actually, this isnât too bad and I think itâs an improvement over the AI in FH3 AND FM7 which hold a steady pace the whole track, then depending on what difficulty you selected will slow down x% before the end of the race and you better hope you stayed top 3 for the final quarter mileâŚ
That said. That damn VAN that I canât get by on a hairpin because its got magic brakes to slow that 4000 pound shell down for entry, magic anti-gravity weights inside that keep it from rolling over and a billion horse power to get it OUT of the turn⌠but my cosworth is just what⌠not better than a utility van? This is insulting to think that in this day in age, this 1998 approach to racing like its âVigilante 8â is acceptable in a game someone paid 100+ dollars for. Donât even get me started on being able to change suspension and tire pressure but not being able to bind a key to see my telemetry âyetââŚ
I get this isnât FM7⌠But it feels more like hydro thunder than a Forza game.
Honestly at this point just give me the ability to shut off all AI, tune cars and enjoy the courses in winter mode or in the mud because thatâs all I bought it for anyways.
You are bang on point. Iâve never felt so cheated by the AI outside of Crew2. I will carry on playing FH4 but wont trust the AI and will consider my purchase of the inevitable FH5 unless Playground Games acknowledge and fix the AI in this game
