AI difficulty needs some serious tweaking

70% of the time I manage to beat unbeatable drivatars. Half of that time quite easily like most cross country and dirt events for example. But the other 30% just doesn’t make any sense. Mostly it’s speedy sprints on tarmac and rarely offroad. Bots are horrible at cornering, but the straight line accel is nuts! It’s like thay are on nitros or have 200-300 hp more. By the time I catch up to the first place it is race’s end. It plays unnatural, sorta feels like AI cheating. And it really shouldn’t be.

So basically what I’m asking for is difficulty consistency. Because jerking settings back and forth is a bit irritating.

I hope devs will see this. Please fix AI acceleration! It is very unbalanced.

forza has had rubberbanding for many years now. are you a new player?

I’m experiencing a similar thing. In some events I blast past the competition and in Cross Country events, I’m struggling to keep up.

It’s not a new problem, but it feels worse in FH6 than in previous titles. In part it might be affected by whether one’s driving a stock or pretuned car, but the inconsistency is very annoying.

Totally agree, I usually race highly skilled and one above. Had no issues with fh5, once I jumped into 6 , a different story. I would pass cars from 9th - 5th, once im in 4th, 1st -3rd are on rails and easily pull away, alot of times its picking the right car snd tweaking some of the setups.

Yeah, I’m pretty much always able to blow by the field in FH5 in Expert, but here on the same difficulty about the only way I’ve been able to win a race was with a shameless dive-bomb at some point. No matter the car I can be going full-throttle in a straight line and watch the top half of the field continue to pull away from me.

Agree re Cross Country. It’s always been a problem in FH but in FH6, some of the jumps are so high, that your car either flips or stops dead while the drivatars race on perfectly. It shouldn’t be necessary to rewind and then take a slight deviation to find you now land ok.

Agree with the OP. Difficulty is very inconsistent.

I have just come from Forza Horizon 5 and it is the same in that game too. I frequently moved up a level of difficulty and then after 2 or 3 races had to drop down. I think this could really do with being looked at by the Devs although I don’t hold out much hope given that this has been the same for years.

I am also finding the AI very aggressive in FH 6. For me, this is actually even more frustrating than the difficulty inconsistency.

Having said all this though, what a fantastic game this is. It needs a few tweaks for sure but a great job done by the Devs in my opinion.

Specs: PC, AMD 9800x3d, rtx 5080, 96 gb RAM, Moza R12 wheel base.

It’s the same problem as previous FH games, the AI is awful at driving so they have to turn the cheats up in order to make them competitive. And they keep turning the cheats up every game.

I’ve seen so much egregious cheating. AI parking on the apex and then rocketing away like they have 250 extra horsepower and twice as much grip is a common occurrence. I’ve had to bump the difficulty down to highly skilled (played on unbeatable all the way up to 5, where I played on a mix of difficulties from unbeatable to highly skilled) just to make the racing AI remotely enjoyable.

Just last night, I played a cross country race on highly skilled where the car ahead of me borked a corner, started fishtailing wildly on the straight (we’re talking 60 degree skids of pure panic), and was still pulling away from me. I was in the Ioniq 5.

There is no logic that can justify that.

Unfortunately, the new Forza Feedback Portal is hot garbage. Search before you submit a new request, it says, only no search ever comes back with anything and it takes forever to fail. To add insult to injury there’s no “contact us” link anywhere so we can tell you guys that’s it’s broken.

Don’t you people ever use your own products? Jira is bad. Like Forza AI is bad.

Drag races were where I found the most grief. Even on the easiest setting I found myself getting beat by the AI until I found a workaround with a near stock Honda Beat. Everything else was a piece of cake on Novice.

The Colossus was some amount of nonsense. Prob the worst example of no play testing I’ve found.

One or two of the cc races in D class aren’t great either

In FH5, I played at Expert difficulty. In FH6, I can’t win many races if I dare to play on Above Average difficulty.

especially The Colossus, I can’t catch 10 out of 12 AI with my fully modified car on AVERAGE difficulty.

As someone who has played motorsport for 20 years at unbeatable level and competed against top drivers in MP i agree.

The AI is very quick, too quick in most cases. I’ve had to drop down a couple from the top and even then I’m struggling in most races.

I thought it was just inexperience with Horizon even though I’ve played them all casually.

The only way to compete is to choose and build a car with the best possible launch. Once you’re in front the AI drops back. Same old Forza.

Anyone else hating the ai driving both ramming off road and unfair power and grip like one minute they slow then next min they pull a 30 second gap i spent 1 hour getting rammed and pushed off goliath rather triggering and a kill joy ::confused:

I did the Colossus at lunchtime. I thought if I put them on Average, I ought to be all right. Nope, not even close. I was immediately relegated to 10th, where I stayed for the whole race, with 9th occasionally being within name range. Given the nature of the Colossus (not much technicality nor much chance of players using the usual tactics to deal with the drivatars), I wasn’t surprised. I’m dreading to think what the Goliath might be like when I do that.

I suspect part of the problem is drivatars in madly overpowered cars.

Road and dirt racing is mostly all right, although I had one instance of shoving in a race on a time attack circuit. Cross-country is still a massive pain, which is often not helped by the excess of jumps. At the spaceport, the drag race was a farce with one drivatar three-wheeling a win in the RJ Anderson Trophy Truck.

I was hoping there was going to be some advance in drivatar behaviour, but obviously I’m just being naive.

They are super aggressive in road races. They dive bomb just like people in multiplayer

I finally started winning a few races in Expert on B and A-class, but starting out the game I felt like I didn’t have a prayer in most of them. The first 4 or 5 cars constantly pulled away from me even if I ran a clean race. One other thing I noticed is that I’m getting rear-ended all the time by the AI in braking zones, even when I start braking exactly in the marker. I don’t remember that ever happening in 4 or 5.

I hear ya. I tried to type what im about to type in the portal but clicking on bug reporting led me to a blank page. I played over 5000 hours of Forza since FM4, 3000 of them in FH5. Muscle memory gone because cars feel heavy, jerky, like im driving 5 miles deep under the ocean. FH5 easily a top .01% rival racer. Now in FH6 (even though ive beat those single player races and made it to legend island) an average friend of mine can hang with me. Im probably whining but can we just press a physics do over button and lemme have another 3000 hours of fh5 physics/feel and snap precision?

The difference between the levels is pretty stark for the Colossus - I had dropped from Expert in FH5 to Above Average for most of FH6 so far, but lost the Colossus by 5 seconds. Rather than mess about all day, I dropped it two levels to Novice - I won by 15 seconds over 2nd, and 4th-12th were still only 97% complete when they got DNF’d.

It certainly doesn’t bode well for the Trial when it launches.
