The german youtuber Andi Knight did a nice video comparing the new Cars in the Series Updates - FH5 vs FH4.
Series 2 to Series 13 in FH5 vs Series 2 to Series 13 in FH4
(he left out Series 1 because it was part of the gamereleases)
Update Recycling in Numbers:
FH5 - 67 New Cars
20 New to Forza
44 from FH4
1 from Motosport 4
1 from Motosport 6
1 from Motosport 7
FH4 - 62 New Cars
27 New to Forza
15 from FH3
4 from FH2
4 from FH1
7 from Motosport 7
5 from Motosport 4
about the 44 Cars gotten from FH4 to FH5
26 cars are most likely a quick and dirty copy/paste job and still have the british plates
14 cars with little updates got the mexican plate
4 cars are without plates
The numbers may give the reason why the Series Updates in FH4 overall felt better for the most people.
FH4 got way more cars completely new to Forza and a better variety of cars from older Forza titles.
original Video (Das Recycling in den Updates -german) from Andi Knight:
Hi, Iām Andi Knight
I did count the Extreme-E cars as one car, not ten ^^
Also, as Iāve mentioned in the video:
Both of the āNew to Forzaā sections have to be taken with a grain of salt, as these also include cars like the Mini FE and Viper AE in Horizon 5, and cars like the Hoonicorn Gymkhana 10 and McLaren 720S Spider in FH4. But it still made the most sense to include them there, as otherwise I there would have been discussions over āWhat counts as a new car, and which is just another variant of a car we already have?ā
People complained when they added brand new cars from a certain country and said theyd rather anything else, people complained when they added brand new electric cars and people said theyd rather have anything else that wasnt electric so im just happy theyre still adding cars, the car pass is over so its not like they are obligated to add anything (apart from the second DLC)
Perhaps the dev team may not feel āobligatedā to do anything further, but if they want to keep their game from being little more than a periodic roster update, then they are indeed obligated to do what is necessary to achieve that result. And honestly, no matter how much you try to spin it, having a post-launch content plan that consists largely of stuff that was just in the game prior is less of a winning move than you think and more of a tell about how disinterested PGG seems to be with regards to supporting this game. 44 cars from Horizon 4 is a joke - one that tops even the issues with the few new cars available.
What would be nice is if Chris Phillips or Mike Brown actually came on to these forums and explained why that is, among a few other things. Because you and ManteoMax can use all of the corporate spin words you like, but stats like that paint a picture you canāt control.
well if all the other stuff they added is just seen as āperiodic roster updatesā maybe they are wasting their time trying to please people that dont seem to be happy with anything
The reason why I made that video is not to complain about what cars weāre getting. Iām saying in my streams and other videos multiple times that Iām happy with whatever theyāre adding.
However, while making this video I realized that 2/3 of the cars weāve gotten in Horizon 5 via free updates so far have been cars weāve seen in the last game, sometimes even cars that have been in every single Forza Horizon so far, like the Agera and One-77. Those cars should have been in the game at launch, they just donāt feel like theyāre coming back, but rather like they were held back in order to be brought back at a later point. This was especially obvious when I saw that in Horizon 4, that trend was just not the case. The cars that returned from Horizon 3 into Horizon 4 is roughly a third of the amount of cars that returned to Horizon 5 from Horizon 4.
The way ive always taken it from their responses is that they try to balance the cars that come out over the course of the game, so yeah, cars will return throughout the life cycle but they try to balance those with new cars and try to balance the game at the same time. They obviously want to release cars every week (returning or not) so they mix them up and they only have a certain number of cars to pull from.
I suppose they could have held on to the wulang and released the eagle then and the wulang now to counter the ātheyre all returning onesā argument that we are currently seeing but they dont and probably wont go into too much explanation as to the reasons why certain cars are released when they are and why some cars are never seen at all because they have to respect the companies they are getting the cars from and abide by their NDAs in case they turn round and say no more.
We also need to remember that FH5 has the most players and so for a lot of folks these āreturningā cars are new to them.
Most players? How about paring that down to how many are actually returning to play the game now, as opposed to the supposed 20 mill that PG touts on the regular.
I dont know and am only guessing but Id assume that if this game started with 20 and the last game started with less then the amount of players playing this game after a year would still exceed what fh4 had after its first year and the proportion of new players would still be higher ?
and just because a car is returning doesnt mean that nobody wants it, i have seen people requesting the eagle and the ferrari and while they may not be the cars id choose Im sure theyre happy to see them eventually.
We also need to remember that while we can guess and assume this and that, theyre the only ones working from actual figures and data so while something may seem like a dumb idea to us they could have totally reasonable justifications why things are done the way they are, i very much doubt theyre releasing things by drawing them out of a hat
Again, unless the company in question is Tesla, the car companies will not care unless the game (or dev team) is so thoroughly offensive that associating with it is not worth the stretch. Beyond the likes of, say, a Grand Theft Auto, all that matters is that they come out a little ahead. So, which is it in this case? Is Forza Horizon too offensive of a game for companies to put much effort into, or have mistakes been made by the people in charge of securing content for Horizon?
One other thing:
Youāre missing the point. The community wants many of the cars coming back. But they also want to know why they were cut in the first place, and why so many of them were available just one game prior. These 44 cars and whatever reruns they have in the pipeline could just as easily have been in this game from the start, and post-launch development can be freed up to focus on newer stuff. That makes sense.
You assume every car company apart from tesla wants to be in the game but only they(t10) know who actually wants in , who they have to beg and pay a fortune to be included and who will give them money to have their car featured .
sure, id guess they could have thrown every car in at the start and never added anything but they decided to release them this way. We can wonder why but i very much doubt they will come in here and tell us their cooperate thinking.
Id like to know why cabanas and lime angel delight arent a thing anymore but companies just arent obligated to explain that stuff to us. In the case of T10 they probably dont want to release any particulars in case they sour future plans or plans with other manufacturers
I donāt know if you were around when Festival Playlist appeared in FH4 but rest assured, first several series caused the outrage of astronomical proportions. These forums here were burning non stop, due to bugs, difficulty, lackluster prizes and all the complains you can imagine.
And overall, weāve been getting a new car to drive into the game every week for close to a year now. And thereās still a new complain about ālazy devs and no new carsā every week here
I donāt know what an average FH player knows about cars, but most will not care about the cars coming from FH4 slowly. I donāt careā¦ I think thatās for the car enthusiasts. I donāt know if FH is supposed to be for car enthusiasts.
