This comment is like something from 2019, almost all of this game’s + FH4’s longevity + continued engagement are based around that 1 new car per week, it is not done for the benefit of the players, they’d be dropped straight into the autoshow for players to purchase at their leisure if it was.
I would have thought someone like you in particular would know that by now, at some point between FH3 + FH4 it was clearly decided either by PG or MS that that would be how the series would now try to achieve continued engagement from as many people as possible.
Please do not defend it like it’s a weekly goodwill gesture that’s done out of the goodness of their hearts.
Personally I think this game has a ludicrous amount of cars already, regardless if they are new or existing. That’s not to say I disagree, in fact I agree with practically everything everyone has said here except for one post. It also seems fairly reasonable to expect a new series of Horizon to showcase unseen cars, especially those that have long been desired.
Given the existing list of cars the best thing I think they could do is rebalance cars to make some uncommon cars more competitive. Additional offer more car customization options so they players can modify existing cars in new ways.
Take it another step further and focus on gameplay which encourages players to use these cars such as custom lobbies where car restrictions can be put in place.
Well, barely anyone asked for vehicles from China and anyone asking for EVs never mentioned Extreme E once (and trust me, I know, I tend to look at of the vehicle requests on the forum at least once). It’s blatantly obvious the Chinese manufacturers and Extreme E paid Playground to include them, and while this isn’t uncommon practice with racing games, it still feels shallow, especially when there are numerous vehicles announced four years ago that have yet to be added to the game.
And I don’t plan on going into it much more than this next sentence due to forum rules, but EVs and China are both controversial, so there was always going to be a push back. Tripling down by adding many Chinese and electric vehicles in rapid succession on top of not adding highly requested cars and cutting and readding popular cars from previous games only guaranteed an uproar. Turn 10, Playground, and Microsoft get no sympathy from me in that regard, any PR talk from anyone upstairs isn’t going to work. This is one of the times where silence from Playground is probably smarter than flapping their gums with excuses no one with a decent sense of logic is going to buy.
Technically, any video game with licensed vehicles is made for car enthusiasts in some regard. Otherwise, video games developers probably wouldn’t even bother dropping thousands of dollars on licensing, because they could easily build a model based on an existing car instead, tear off the badges, give it a ripoff name, and call it a day and a thousand dollars saved.
youre assuming these forums are the only place they accept car requests from but even if they did pay playground or MS to have them included, so what ? thats great, at least t10 didnt pay them and that would be cash they could reinvest in adding other cars or paying people to fix bugs etc
Ive no idea where there were cars announced 4 yrs ago for this game ? They tend not to announce cars, however people see things and assume somethings coming when there may have been no actual plans to release it or the plans change outwith their(t10s) control.
All im saying is we have zero data as to why cars are released the way they are and unless youre part of the contracts division of MS or T10 then we probably never will know why one car gets added while another isnt. The only illogical thing is assuming we know better cause our truth suits us more
youre assuming these forums are the only place they accept car requests
Max has said time and again that the forums are the only place where requests are collected for data anymore. Reddit, Twitter, Instagram, and especially YouTube comments have no barring on the data as far as I am aware, unless this has changed again.

You completely misinterpreted what I said here. Like, you didn’t land on Mars while aiming for Earth. You landed on Jupiter. I was referring to cars announced in the real world by the manufactures, not by Playground or any other affiliated party. I’m taking cars like the 2019 Jaguar XE SV Project 8. Been out for three years, exclusivity licensing deal with EA is done, so where is it?
yeah Max probably knows better where they collect the car requests from, so if thats what he said then okay.
and
ahhh okay that makes more sense, but that comes back to why is one car included and another not, the princess was out in the 80s and they havent added that but if I take youre car for example, seeing as EA had an exclusive license that i assume they paid for, maybe Jag are looking to get the same deal again from whoever wants the car and maybe T10 or MS arent willing to pay that when they can get 10 others for the same price or maybe EA have first refusal and havent refused yet or maybe … there could be a million reasons, what im saying is we arent likely to ever find out specifics because if t10 turned round now and said we arent adding that cause Jag are being greedy and wanting a fortune for it maybe Jag pull the rest of their cars etc
all we can do is guess or assume and theres no point in that cause well never find out if we are right wrong. They obviously have a plan for what and why they do what they do and we arent likely going to find out what that plan is but they have entire marketing departments of very qualified staff working on that so we just have to assume they know what and why theyre doing what they do.
Its pretty presumptions of us to assume we know better than entire departments of qualified staff when we dont have any of the data they do and have zero knowledge of the road map they are trying to follow.
I don’t think that needs you to be a car enthusiast. If I buy a car I don’t want a fake car, I don’t want a fake XBox, or a fake TV. You don’t need to be an enthusiast to want the real thing, but you need to be an enthusiast to care if the cars came from FH4 or not.
Somebody should make a poll, do you care that the cars came from FH4 such as Alfa Romeo, or do you only want new cars.
Somebody should make a poll, do you care that the cars came from FH4 such as Alfa Romeo, or do you only want new cars.
That’s a little different from the situation currently at hand. There’s a difference between vehicles that couldn’t make it in at launch due to licensing reasons, and cars purposely withheld. Alfa Romeo is in the licensing issue camp, while something like the Aston Martin One-77 was definitely withheld.
You don’t have to be “highly qualified” to recognize when things are off, or wrong, or to even recognize that the “highly qualified people” are making the wrong calls consistently.
You’re being obtuse about this. Willingly or absent-mindedly is up for debate.
Pretty certain. The complaint is around stuff like the Nissan Sentra, which we know is a car which it’s extremely likely could have been included at launch. Alfa is different as the fact that there are no Alfas strongly suggests a licensing issue.
Also, while you’re not wrong completely wrong about your car enthusiasts rebuttal, my point still stands. Why bother spending thousands of dollars on licensing an actual car if you thought your main audience didn’t care? You may as well be lighting cash on fire if that were the case.
In short, are Horizon games made for car enthusiasts. Yes and no. Do you need to be one to play and enjoy the gameplay? No. Does a decent size of the audience play because of the cars? Heck, yes. If there was any other game with an open world, good physics, extensive car list, but had better presentation and less malarky from its developers, I’d jump ship immediately.
In my opnion FH is a game that mostly appeals to kids, is heavily and intelligently used to promote brands BUT also happens to also appeal to enthusiasts.
The game teaches you very little about the cars you unlock and most of the time is spent ripping their insides out, changing their characteristics and/or fitting ugly after market wheels. I try to rock more purist builds, but a lot of these cars once they hit the track are in name only.
If it was a game mainly for enthusiasts it’d have a 330 Spa or a Singer on the cover, not a Senna or a One. (In my opinion)
Also re: Alfa, the 33 Stradale alone might be one of the most legendary Forza cars ever. In FM5 I used it in multiple classes for circuit and drag racing. It’s still highly sought after. …by enthusiasts.
‘things are off, or wrong or making the wrong calls consistently.’ are all your opinion, theyve been doing the same with the releases since FM3? and they seem pretty happy with the way things go as theyve done it this way every game since. So it would be obtuse to think it would be any different this game.
They try to balance the car releases as per their road map and objectives that we have no knowledge of, so we cant say its wrong or silly, we can say we dont like it or its not to our taste but theres no point in trying to second guess them when we have none of the facts they are working with
