Come to think of it why shouldn’t Forza 5 receive monthly updates? The game is barely past the half year marker and
already it seems because of the latest Horizon installment we’re doomed to some petty rumors of sponsor updates
and that’s it, case closed wait to F6.
I’m loyal to the great fun F5 brought me so far and have bought every add-on but now I am supposed to buy FH2
because it has the Forza name? Horizon has nothing to do with Forza Motorsport: N-O-T-H-I-N-G! When first bought
the horizon installment I though well here we go another great Forza title while I think when I’m not the only one
when I say that instead of rolling out FH2 they should roll out more content for F5 or start building F6!
Or is F6 with weather and night/day effects already done? Oh by al means than go waste our time with another arcade
Horizon title. I’m clearly pist at the disregard for customer and Forza-loyalty thus far by turn10 and Forza. Hope I’m not the only one…
Sorry but Forza Horizon has a lot to do with the Forza Motorsport series. It has the same engine and even a lot of the same cars. FH is an open world version of the circuit-only FM. As much as I love FM and do also prefer it to FH, by now I’m way bored of the limited cars and tracks of FM5 and welcome the different challenge of FH2.
Look at it this way, if FH didn’t exist, we would have to wait 2 years for another FM title! I know FH is not the same but it is a good and fun distraction to keep us happy until the next FM comes…
While I’m also looking forward to FH2, it’s only because I’m optimistic that it drives more like FM5. The original FH drove like a Need for Speed game. Really dumb driving physics. It is not an open world version of circuit only FM. While the cars were sitting they looked every bit Turn 10. But start driving the car and its all Underground. I’m hoping that this has changed somehow. I’m worried that it will be the same. I think in order for it to be different, Turn 10 would have to be the sole producer. But again, I’m being optimistic plus looking forward to the scenery and such. I stopped playing FH about a week after I bought it. Figure I’ll try to give FH2 a fair shot…
History plus the announcement that regular monthly dlc has stopped.
…
The slowing down or stopping of content updates and even general support is the nature of the game development industry.
When it happens and at what rate may differ and time will tell what happens with FM5 but personally I am not expecting anything other than the Infiniti car pack.
Even though I would like to say I will stick with FM5 when new racing games come out history once again predicts I will be on FH2 non stop until the next game after that comes out (Project Cars and The Crew).
Yup, not sure I understand it myself. Car packs ended to early. To me, Xbox One is extremely boring at this point (of course, this is just my opinion).
Horizon is the next open world racer from Playground so that’s the next focal point.
It’s looking good and since nothing else decent is coming out before that, I’ll be picking it up but it’s still two months away. Again, another reason why I don’t understand the monthly support for Forza 5 ending a little to soon.
Granted, there is some evidence that previous overall car packs are not selling well (number of people on the “pack-only” car monthly rivals leaderboards). However, considering the level of content in Forza 5 and the number of people on the Nurburgring leaderboards, there is still sales potential to be had.
I don’t fully know what “more DLC cars in the weeks and months ahead” means quite yet, but I certainly hope for more than two Infiniti cars.
This. Short of persistent online games like MMOs … every video game has a finite life cycle and in order to continue to stay in business and earn profits, video game developers have to move on to new games and new franchises.
There will still be FM5 players, but not as many due to Horizon 2. With FH2’s high expectations (I’m even predicting it might be one of, maybe the, best racing game of all time), we will see alot of players flocking to Horizon 2 for a bunch of stuff, such as the highly-anticipated weather system that Forza fans have been waiting for ages.
As with the back seat Forza 2 took to Forza 3, as it took to Forza 4, as it took to Forza Horizon, as it took to Forza 5. It’s the cycle of games within a franchise. As a new one comes out, the old ones move aside.
Just a thought. To put a quick positive spin on this, just think that many of the trolls that plague FM5 online will move on to FH2. I won’t be thick enough to guarantee a “troll-free” online experience, but I can’t see many reasons why the multiplayer wouldn’t clean up a touch. Just a thought…
All I’m saying is let FM5 Take the backseat to FM6 not too that [Mod edit - WSD - profanity] arcade game Horizon.
Sure it has the same engine etc. But it’s a totally different game. And also let them focus there
efforts at a new Motorsport title instead of this.
FM4 came out end of 2011, FH1 came out end of 2012. When this happened, leading up to Nov 2013 when FM5 came out, how much content was released on FM4 from Q4 2012 to Q4 2013?
That will be the formula for FM5 content from now till FM6 launch in (i suspect) Q4 2015.
Unfortunately DLC support for every game doesn’t last forever. Anyway, as others around here, I was a bit disappointed when they put an end to the monthly packs. The upcoming (and free) Infiniti pack is a welcome addition, but I seriously hope It won’t be the last piece of DLC for this game. That’s why I have high hopes for the first week of September.
Great to hear. I also wanted to throw out that I think some of you may be underestimating a bit the time and resources that it takes to put out DLC for next-gen games nowadays. Particularly when the console itself is barely 8 months old and developers are still in their initial learning curve with the new software/hardware. The longer the console is out, devs will get better and more efficient and DLC will come more quickly … but you don’t just decide to put something out and have it ready in a few weeks. Particularly when your team is working on 3 games (at least) simultaneously. I know that there are different teams working on these games … but there are still limited time and resources to use overall.
