As title suggests, being a Forza fan since Forza 3 up to Horizon 1, I took a hiatus from the series since the controversy around the Xbox One and how Forza 5 was short on content and microtransactions were galore turned me off at first. However, after seeing the trailers and the reviews of Forza 6, I decided it was time to bite the bullet and get the console with the game, and I am really enjoying it so far.
Now that I got the console, looking at my “rewards tab” it just doesn’t feel right having 2 games be completely empty in the case of Horizon 2 and FM5, which makes me wonder if I should even pick them up to at least fill the “rewards” for them, since I would assume FM5 is redundant to get at this point, and knowing Turn 10’s release schedule, there will likely be a Horizon 3 in 2016. It is just the inner completionist telling me to get these games for that.
FM5 is completely redundant at this point unless you really really want the achievement and rewards points. The vast majority of FM5’s content can be found in FM6.
Horizon 2 however is an outstanding open world racing game which is heaps of fun. If you like those kind of games, like Midtown Madness or Need For Speed, but also enjoy the more realistic physics of Forza Motorsport, Horizon combines the two in a very polished package with lots of content. You’ll keep coming back for more.
Horizon 2 has a free demo on the Xbox Marketplace too. Definitely give it a try.
I’m sure it would be worth it. Fh2 is a great game, really fun. If I knew you in real life I would just give you forza 5 and fh2. I don’t trade in games, so they just sit in a box for years before I throw them out or donate whatever I find lol
Yeah FH:2 is certifiably bonkers; I love it, and that’s coming from someone who considers himself a bit of a purist when it comes to racing games. I’ve had FM6 since Sep. 13/14, and I still haven’t touched it as Horizon continues to take my time. A lot of fun, and I’ve barely touched the Porsche content (just one Bucket List item) and Storm Island, though I did rally-up my '69 Fairlady for a Cross Country event…
I still go back occasionally to play forza 2
Only forza i never played much of . .missing most of the achievements …just to try and fill some of the rewards bank spaces
I know exactly what you mean. I owned and played every Forza since FM2 including Horizon 1 & 2. I’ve been going back and playing 2 & 4, I even went out and bought a second copy of FM4 two weeks ago because the copy I owned was extremely scratched and wouldn’t play. I lost my copy of FM3 so I’ll soon be going to get that one also. That will complete my collection of owning all Forzas. I’m actually going to attempt to fill the remaining points that I can for my tier rewards.
I’d get FM5 if it were me. It would make an interesting comparison with FM6 if not an entirely positive one. I’d also get FM2 which is still on the shelves in some stores. I got a second hand copy a couple of months ago for $5 - in perfect condition which I just couldn’t resist. You can’t beat the Rewards program for incentive in this game - it’s got me going on more than a few occasions.
Forza 5 is only worth it if you want the rewards. I did enjoy the game more than some people, but Forza 6 is a much more polished game. It offers everything Forza 5 has but it’s much more complete. I didn’t care for Horizon 1 that much. It was obviously done with a very young crowd in mind. It was annoying at times. Because of that I considered passing on FH2. I am really glad I bought FH2 though. It is a great game. It took me some time to get used to driving through corn fields in a classic Corvette. But once I got past that, I really enjoyed the game. The fun factor in FH2 for me was one of the best in the series.
I did the same thing. I got back into Forza with 5 after a hiatus for 3 and 4 and went back to those games because of Forza Rewards earlier this year. It was somewhat of a grind but it was also very rewarding in the end to finally reach 12.000 points and being able to always be the maximum level for the next game rewards. I’d say go for it, contrary to popular belief Forza 5 is a really good game with enough content and microtransactions were eliminated a month after release. And you don’t need to actually complete it to get all rewards points, although I did that too.
I’m in exactly the same boat. I started with Forza 4, which I absolutely loved. Then my wife got me a copy of Horizon for Christmas the year it came out, and I loved that, too (to my surprise). Got an XBox One last week, specifically for Forza 6. I’ve decided to skip 5 altogether, but I will be getting FH2, for sure.
FM5 and Horizon 2 are two games you absolutely do not want to miss out on at all. Horizon 3 probably won’t be out till summer 2016, that gives you plenty of time to explore Horizon 2 and you will absolutely LOVE it. There’s just too much to do - the map and the sheer amount of stuff to keep you busy in that game is overwhelming.
As for FM5, get that too. You might find engine sounds to be slightly more appeasing and some tracks actually look better in part 5. Just my opinion. Though, you’ll want to go back to FM6, cos’ its a complete game and the track/car roster is VERY impressive, not to mention the improved physics and several aspects about sound that have indeed been improved. Excellent particle effects this time around and the career mode’s very fulfilling.
Just get those two games man, you will not regret it at all.
FM5 only if you are intersted in making your Forza Rewards higher ( 300+ cars might be worth 5 million of credits in next release) plus 3000 points
FH2 definately!!! Super fun - let go, anything goes kind of game -or get serious and do some rivals. Its a great game much longer lasting then FH1 for 360 (which was a blast in its own right)
