Do we ever get to upgrade our cars for any of the series races? So far compact and japanese street kings has me select a car for the series, but does not allow me a single upgrade. So whats the deal, we have to race all cars stock? Upgrade cars in shop for free mode only or am I missing something. Also, why are there cars in Forza Vista that allow you to view engine and others that do not?
Yes cars can be upgraded in career, but some of the race restrictions wont let you take it to the top of the class.
You have to exit the series and then upgrade and then go back to the series. This will work, as long as you stick to the class for the series.
For example, my first compact series started you out at C class 300 i think. Any upgrades i did over 300 wouldnt let me race. And sense it was stock when purchased, i couldnt upgrade a single thing for the whole series. Ot was a recommended car purchase for the series also. Anyways, seems strange to be a c class 300 series, and cant upgrade to 399 lets say like in other previous games. No fun not upgrading anything.
When you buy a car at the beginning of a series it comes pre-upgraded to the top of the class restriction. If you want to upgrade yourself, before you start the first race go back to the main menu screen, go to upgrades and then use the reset to stock setup option. From there you can re-upgrade to the top of the class restriction but in your own way.
It’s probably best to not even buy the car from within the series, since you will have to pay for the forced upgrades. This is a real clunky way of doing things. I get that T10 is trying to make the game more “accessible”, but this is silly.
One thing putting me off in the campaign so far is how the P.I. limits were chosen, it’s literally the top of the class the the highest P.I. car belongs in stock. This means that championships like Rally Day Heroes is limited to 500, where a good portion of the cars have a P.I. right at the top stock (ex. 2015 WRX being 499). Most of us don’t want to race cars bone stock and raising the P.I. to a class higher would make it a lot more enjoyable. Just my two cents
Thats just how amazing the 2015 wrx STi is hahah,
I’ve found some to be limited to the middle of a class. Took the time to tune a car only to find out it needed to be lowered by 50 P.I.
It prevents you from making a good campaign+lobby car, that’s for sure. Easily fixed by making a second tune tho.
It would have been nice if they eliminated PI limits for races and did it like in FH2 and you could race most races with any car and it would just choose your opponents to have PI near whatever your car was. I hated to have to always modify a car up to the limit of the race it was in. Why cant I have it the way I want it and race against similar level cars. FH2 had this part right.
You don’t have to race bone stock you can always go to free play and setup the cars and race how you like. I like that they have the limits then you have to setup you car to compete within the limits. FM2 has a different player to cater to mostly the ones who upgrade there cars to ridicules levels then race. A lot of race series are setup to limit horse power, weight etc. Those kind of limits should be in the single player campaign.
Ive found that the upgrades the cars start with are pretty unsatisfactory. The best thing I did was take off all the power mods and put better tires on the car.
Speak for yourself. Sometimes it’s nice to explore the capabilities of a fresh-off-the-dealer’s-lot new car. Myself, I like to keep cars as close to stock as possible with just a few “realistic” racing modifications (i.e. roll cage).
However, I do agree that, as others have suggested, it would be better if there were no PI limitation and the game just served up a field of cars comparable to whatever you’ve chosen, a la Horizon 2. It’s always better to give the player more options, especially when it can be done so easily, and I’m frankly surprised they didn’t go with this system since they already used it in FH2.
Ok doing career all cars virtually same lvl?? example d class 400… I noticed all the cars were 400… lil bummed by this feels like horizon… what’s the point of upgrading
So you buy a car it’s upgraded already… am I missing something?
The suggested cars it gives you to purchase in career mode are pre-tuned (to make it easy for noobs who just want to progress through the career without much effort). Just back out to the main menu and buy/tune your car how you wish. Then go back to the career mode.
I’ll give it a whirl… that’s a pain… should give you option of buying car then upgrading… thanks for the input
It does.
When you buy a car, it asks if you want to automatically upgrade, race without upgrade, or upgrade manually.
So basically every race event I join and car that’s recommended in the series I choose, will be auto upgraded for me each series? Where is the fun in buying a car, making it competitive on your own without the game holding your hand so much. This feels backwards. Not enjoying the game at this point. Rather go back to FH2
^ I agree, its lame that I have to go back to the menus as the Auto upgrades suck.
Do the auto upgrades show what parts were changed? In past versions I recall seeing a list of parts
